It was a perfect fall day....a little cool under the trees but bright and sunny. There was an amazing playground, like I've never seen before....a merry go round ( not open when we were there) and indoor bathrooms!! There was a vendor selling Arepas , a delicious Venezuelan homemade pocket of dough with assorted homemade fillings. There was also a vender selling Banh Mi (Vietnamese sandwich) on homemade rolls. We got to meet Christine who runs her baked goods business under the name Chicky's! Her scones are amazing. The park was clean and had a good amount of parking spaces, several benches and tables and garbage pails.

We headed over to Rec Park just to relax and see the carousel, which was unfortunately closed. We just walked around and enjoyed the beautiful setting. Plenty of open space and with a beautiful pool, ball fields and tennis courts with multiple paths to walk around. I especially like the huge playground with not just one but two areas for the kids to play and climb and wow... they were all out enjoying the the pay structures and using the slides. This is just a lovely enclave in the middle of a city to find some nice resting and strolling areas. I hope to come here one day and be able to take advantage of the free carousel. My wife and I were headed to the Ross Zoo but opted out at the last minute due to the rain. This place is not designed for a couple of senior citizens to walk around but since I was here I decided to take a look outside. The outside walk through was magnificent and I could see my three grandchildren (one girl, two boys) truly enjoying all the touch and explore exhibits. Sound, flowers even a small playhouse. This type of exhibt really forces the children to use their sensory abilities including their imagination. One obvious observation is the tremendous use of color here. The design will surely captivate the children KUDOs to the team of the Discovery Center of the Southern Tier.

I loved all the pretend play, from doctor's office, dentist office, the bank, the car shop, the vet, the grocery store, etc. Sure some stuff is pretty outdated/old, but at the same time there were some features we hadn't seen at other children's discovery museums, such as the flight simulator. We had a fun time and spent maybe 1.5 hours here.

Unfortunately, the weather interfered with our ability to see as much as we had hoped, but we still had a great time! There is a nice visitor center with a variety of historic and nature info available, including some great info on the CCC work that took place in the park (there's a really nice interactive model of a CCC camp too) and how and where the park name is suspected to have been derived from. There is a real snake to look at, as well. A very nice playground is located nearby, and this section of the park also offers easy access to the Loysalsock Creek and the beach with a snack bar, plus multiple picnic tables and shelterhouses. It's beautiful even just to look at the valley walls and the creek itself. There are several gorgeous vistas available, some by foot and some by foot or car. We especially liked the Loyalsock Canyon Vista, which can be reached on foot or by car. It is located next to the Rock Garden, which is a very neat grouping of giant rocks and boulders that is a lot of fun to check out. The park also offers camping and plenty of trails. Worlds End is located within the Loyalsock State Forest, so there is also a lot more that one could explore in the area.
