IT IS MY OPINION that this urologist DAMAGED ME FOR LIFE! I first had a failed prostate microwaving…read moreby him that he said worked on 90% of patients.(Another urologist told me that 60% was more accurate) He then said I HAD to have a Transurethral resection of the prostate or TURP for "definitive" therapy. It made me worse than I had been and because he failed to realize that I was not properly numb, began to operate on me while I felt the instruments enter my body and the cutting of my prostate begin. He didn't bother to wear a surgical mask at that operation, nor the two others that followed it either. (see photo) Just 3 weeks later I had TURP 2 which only put me back to where I had been. When I had another failed spinal, I was put under general anasthesia AGAINST MY WILL. 3 months later I unbelievabley had TURP 3 and it did nothing. I began to develop PEYRONIES Disease only a week after it, that he never bothered to check me for, despite me having classic symptoms of it. When I had severe testicular pain, he explained it away as just infection--no-- an INGUINAL HERNIA that I suffered from much longer that I should have had he FIRST checked for that with such an obvious symptom. I had near emergency surgery for it by another physician. He had not told me that the drug AVODART that he prescribed sometimes caused breast enlargement or Gynocomastia and when I asked about it,, I thought he brushed it off by saying it only happened to 1/2 of 1% of patients....well that would be 100% of ME. How carring or sympthetic was he to my embarassing situation? He joked about my "man boobs" in the presence of his female nurse, who was later my student. How is that for "professional tact?" I asked about help for sexual problems from the first operation on and 13 times got no direction at all. If he ever bothered to ask other physicians or do any research on that, he never bothered to tell me. I found help at a major treatment facility in Birmingham on my own and had to have a bladder neck operation to fix another complication of his 3 failed TURPS. MY advice? NEVER have any operation wtihout getting a second opinion first. I was a fool to not have done that. It is my OPINION that I would have been BETTER OFF to have never let this guy touch me or to have gone to see a veternarian. KNOW THAT WHAT HAPPENED TO ME COULD HAPPEN TO YOU ! Do I believe he DELIBERATELY caused any of my trouble? Absolutely not....but it all DID happen and it could happen to you.
