During the first appointment I received a lecture for knocking on the door (to ask a question) a few minutes before my scheduled appointment. The place was empty! I had a stool sample to return by a specific time but I had to schedule an appointment. I explained to her there were no appointments available and the time frame to submit the stool sample would expire. Her reply...you have to make an appointment to drop it off!!! Such a waste of TIME. I'm traveling to get the test completed in CA to avoid her pathetic demeanor. This individual represents Quest Diagnostics, it's apparent Quest Diagnostics doesn't really care about the services they provide. It appears that they are saturated with business and can treat customers as a number rather than treating sick people with any humanity. Do yourself a favor and drive to CA to avoid this utterly poor care.

That is when their problems and discomfort really began. After interacting with the staff and physicians at this organization I am much more confident that there is good health care to be found in Southern Oregon. I and my friend have learned more about cancer, its' treatment and what to expect from said treatment from the nurses here than from any other person or resource available. They treat their patients with a kindness, compassion and consideration that I have never, ever seen before. Truly amazing people treating even more amazing people. The doctors are thorough and professional. They take time to make sure all their patient's questions are answered (you just have to know what to ask!) Brought to the Asante Health System by OHSU in 1999, it is a regional resource for basic and clinical cancer research into new methods of diagnosis and treatment. I did plenty of research on my own before choosing a Mirena IUD but she made sure that I was aware of all the pros and cons of this particular method of birth control. (I'm getting it primarily because I take blood thinners and it can eliminate periods, which would greatly increase my quality of life. ) She also discussed my overall state of health and we discussed scheduling a series of appointments (post insertion check up, a full annual physical, cholesterol, fasting glucose because diabetes runs in the family). Ute is VERY thorough and looks at your overall picture of health. She is focused on you and you alone once she gets in the exam room. One thing I love about seeing nurse-practitioners is that the appointments tend to last longer than with an MD (I still love the MD's here, too, though!) Longer appointments are especially good for women who might not feel comfortable discussing intimate health information within just a few minutes of meeting someone. When it came time for the actual insertion she used some lidocaine jelly which GREATLY eased the discomfort relative to the first time I had an IUD placed. She was patient and let me breathe my way through the rough patches before proceeding. I'm really glad I met her today and I look forward to seeing her again. She's respectful, a good listener, and a great care provider. I've mentioned it before but I'll say it again: We women in Southern Oregon are SO fortunate to have the Women's Health Center. I was told that it was going to cost me $100.00 because my Dental Insurance would cover it. I'm already into this Low Cost Dental for 12K out of my own pocket. But I paid the $100.00 because I needed my teeth to fit. The lady that worked on me said Norm this $100.00 will be good for 6 months . It this doesn't work just come back in. If you get another bill just bring it back to me. Well the hard reline didn't work but guess what? I got a new bill for $150.00. When I called to tell them what was said about me paying the $100.00 and not having to pay again. I was told the doctor that help me with the hard reline was wrong. I owe $150.00 because my Dental Insurance won't take care of it. If I pay them another $150.00 it will be good for 6 months. I called my Insurance Co and was told. We can't keep paying for a service if they can't make it right. If I don't pay this $150.00 I will end up with bad credit. So far nothing has worked . I'm out 12k for a piece of crap sitting in my dresser drawer. Not a happy camper. What would you do?

I was immediately given tests by two EXCELLENT technicians, one of him were a name badge: Ramirez. Fortunately in the ambulance, I was given both IV sailine and an EKG, which was fine. The sailine IV restored me and it's a darn good thing! After the text finished with me, I was put in the giant almost empty waiting room of the ER and told it would be somewhere of between 6 and 24 hours before I could see a "service provider", which I think may be double speak for a medical doctor!!! Yes, you read that right. I was brought in by ambulance and I was told I needed to sit upright in a wheelchair for as much as 24 hours. Now some of you know me. What do YOU think I said to that????????? I politely said, "I am going home and going to sleep. Sleep heals me. What I am NOT going to do is sit up in a wheelchair or lie on the ER floor (which did not look sparkling clean but maybe it was just old) for as many as 24 hours hoping that s-o-m-e-d-a-y maybe I'll be seen by a medical doctor." The corporate management of Asante is, in my humble opinion, moneygrubbers who do not give a darn about patients. They have a demonstrated track record of that via the various lawsuits and out of court settlements they have had to make. I feel sorry for the doctors and nurses and other staff who have to work there. I am glad for all of the patients that have gotten good care because of the kindness, compassion, as skill of the people who work in Asante, including the good doctors as certainly all of the RNs and other staff who actually do their best to help patients. I wish we would get a different medical group here in the Rogue Valley. In the meantime, my husband and I are primarily working with Provident had receiving very good treatment.

Their receptionists are also unfriendly and disrespectful. Also, my concerns to Dr. Bates were dismissed by them, as they responded only with a one paragraph letter that completely ignored my complaint. I feel they left me swinging in the wind. Creekside Family Medicine in Medford Oregon is NOT a safe place, in my experience.
