I'm not even sure where to begin with writing this review. Heather is an AMAZING photographer. She shot my brother's wedding back in 2013, and did an incredible job at his wedding that when it was my turn, I knew she would be ours too. My husband and I got married in July of 2018, and while Heather hadn't shot at our venue before, she came to our final detail meeting to scope out the location and do prework. She didn't have to do it, but it was another opportunity for us to meet in person too before the big day and go over the photos we wanted. Heather is incredibly professional and kind, yet also has the right around of direction to herd family for family photos! Getting 25 people in one photo is no small feat, but she is up to the task and makes you feel at ease. Throughout the day she was incredibly sweet, checking on us to make sure we were okay, but also giving us direction for when she found the perfect shot. Smiling hurts after a while! So when we were getting a bit tired she was flexible and made it work. She is helpful, dedicated and thoughtful which made her such a joy to work with. Not to mention, the photos turned out AMAZING. We have had so many compliments from family and friends; they are all obsessed with them! We are too, of course :) We loved working with you, Heather! read more

Heather was so gracious to accommodate a reschedule of our photo shoot when we managed to get delayed by LA traffic on our way to the shoot location! We're not from the area, and we didn't expect to be stuck in traffic for 2.5 hours longer than we had planned. :( But like I said, she was sooo gracious in offering up her personal time to do our photo shoot the next morning, and the pictures are amazing. Love how she captures the light in the photos, and she was great at putting all of us (me, husband, and our two boys - 7yo and 4.5yo) at ease. Would highly recommend her for families in the Oceanside/Carlsbad area or anyone passing through, but I would not recommend trying to book with her on a travel day. :D Give yourself extra, extra time to get through that LA traffic! read more

Just got our wedding photos back, and they are incredible! They were delivered less than a month after our wedding, and each one of them is so special and perfect! read more

Heather is amazing! She shot my sister's wedding in 2013, so when I got engaged she was the only photographer I wanted for my big day! Heather did an engagement shoot for us in Laguna Beach, she made it very fun and natural (my husband hates photos and he ENJOYED himself). When it came time for our big day, Heather and her assistant did a great job capturing our wedding. When we got the pictures back my husband and I were SOOO impressed! We also just found out that our pictures will be featured in Ceremony Magazine 2019! I HIGHLY recommend Heather for your big day! read more

Thank you so much Heather!! Your skilled experience was exactly what I needed. I'm not comfortable in front of a camera but your great direction before and throughout the shoot helped me (and my family) relax and have a fun time without even having to think about what we were doing. These are the best 30th wedding anniversary pics I could have ever gotten!! As I told you, I got married at 18 and a friend took a few snapshots of our wedding for us. Some with heads half cutoff the top and some of people in hotel lounge area we didn't even know. Snapshots like that. Lol! (That's what happens when you have a 16 year old friend take your wedding pics. ) Since then I've always wished for a beautiful pic of me and my husband to display like the beautiful wedding photos I always see on people's desks at work. Thanks to your amazing work I now have soooo many beautiful pics it's gonna be hard to choose which ones to display. We will treasure our photos for years to come! (looking forward to scheduling another shoot with you for my extended family real soon!) You helped make my dreams come true! That's a pretty incredible thing!!! read more

Heather is a phenomenal photographer. She is also very easy to work with, and very discreet in a wedding setting. Her prices are very reasonable, especially for the quality, and the inclusion of all of her editing as well as all digital and hard-copies. Heather photographed our wedding in Feb 2008, as well as a bridal session a few days before. Both sets of photos are fantastic! Very artistic with some very unique shots, plus all of the regular shots we wanted. I loved working with her because she is level-headed, calm, and is good at directing you to get the best shots. She had the photos completely edited and ready for us just two weeks later! We liked our pictures so much that we hired her again a year ago to take pictures of our whole extended family at a park. Again, the photos turned out brilliantly and everyone enjoyed the session. We will be hiring her again, and I suggest you hire her too! read more

We have used Heather as our photographer for the last 9 years, and I cannot say enough about how fabulous her photos are! Heather is amazing. I was from out of town looking for someone to capture my family being all together For the first time in 10 years. It's a little intimidating finding someone through reviews and not knowing them. Heather though has been amazing. She was great with communicating and with the photo session. Keeping five kids under ten and six adults together and happy during the whole thing. I highly recommend her. read more

Heather is an amazing and gifted photographer. We've used her for family, maternity and newborn photos and every time the photos have turned out beautifully. Vallentryne photography was our lead photographer for our wedding in La Jolla Village just a few summers ago. Wow, what a talent and so easy to work with. They showed up early, stayed late, and kept a constant smile and good vibe throughout our entire wedding day. Excellent eye for mixing photography and art! Your wedding pictures won't be the same old boring, just like everyone else's photos.

Heather has a great eye and really knows how to capture your true beauty. My photos were more than I could ask for. I had to laugh when I saw them because I'm not use to seeing myself look that beautiful and sexy. the photos give you a great boost of confidence and also allows you to appreciate your body. I've always wanted to do a shoot like this and thought what a great opportunity to do when I turn 30. It will be something I cherish forever and can share with other woman so that they can also feel proud and confident in their bodies as well whether it's a gift to themselves or for their significant other. read more

Heather at Vallentyne Photography is super professional and an all around great photographer. We have never had any professional shots of our family, ever. So I was sort of nervous about what to expect in the outcome. Let's just say, I was more than pleasantly surprised. I generally hate pictures of myself, but Heather manages to capture shots that are really lifelike and real, as opposed to fake and posed. She's good at letting the pictures sort of happen on their own. And that I really love. Our two kids under 6 also responded well to her so that's always a huge plus too. We were taken to 4 amazing locations, and got amazing pictures from all locations. I am using her again for a very special party we are planning next year. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to every person I know. If you want amazing quality photos and a very professional photographer, contact Heather. read more

Heather just competed out family photos for this year. We could not be more pleased! She was fantastic to work with from setting up location and making suggestions to the very impressive final product. She has a warm and friendly personality and makes the process feel as fun and natural as possible. Patient and creative with capturing young kids too! read more

Heather photographed our family's portraits. We have two toddlers... not easy photo subjects! Heather was able to get such sweet portraits of them; with authentic, true expressions. I think it's her calm, pleasant demeanor... such a warm person :) I cherish the portraits she took so much! I love Heather's style; and her mix of posed portraits and more candid images. She does a really great job leading you into the pose and I never felt awkward... She has a natural way of getting the shots she wants. She is very experienced and does a great job finding the best light at the location as well. The ordering of our portraits was super easy as well. You will not be disappointed to choose Heather as your photographer! read more

We chose Heather many years past as our wedding photographer as we were drawn to the images that Heather captured; Many years later when we were back in town to visit, Heather is still our top choice for family portrait :). Heather's skill set is unique. Her photographs captured mood and emotion along with artistic composition. Heather is very classy. We are very thankful to have her capturing moments of our life journey. Thank you Heather! read more

Heather is the best!!! She captured the most beautiful moments at our wedding and she is such a joy to work with. She is extremely professional and very organized. I cannot recommend Heather and Vallentyne Photography enough! My husband and I used her for our wedding a few years back and not only was I so appreciative for the job she did but I was also blown away beyond my expectation of how the pictures turned out. Vallentyne photography was professional, caring, and very talented. I can't wait to use them again in the future for my family portraits. I still go back and look at her blog because Heather's talent is so mesmerizing. read more

Heather is amazing! I booked her for my wedding in Del Mar and could not be happier with the results. Initially I was drawn to her artistic style and use of light. I wanted sunset photos, so knowing how to use light was very important to me. She is also very reasonable considering the incredible quality. My husband and I are not very comfortable taking photographs, but Heather quickly put us at ease with her calm but confident demeanor. I highly recommend booking Vallentyne Photography! read more

Heather Vallentyne photographed our wedding at the end of December in Escondido and we couldn't be happier. She was a professional from the beginning of the process to the end and was so personable along the way. There are a lot of 5-star photographers on Yelp in the So Cal area, and my fiance at the time and I called/emailed/skyped over 10 of them -- Trust me, we've done the leg work for you, go with Vallentyne Photography. Heather was nice and real, not a "saleswoman," and talked about her love for telling the story of a couple's day through photos. She got to know us via questionnaire and through our Pinterest wedding board page. She showed up day of on time with a great second shooter and was patient and efficient throughout the entire process. Also, the pictures (1,000 of them) came within 2 weeks of our wedding date and are very high quality. read more

Vallentyne Photography was amazing to work with for my wedding on August 3 at Hotel Laguna in Laguna Beach. Heather and her assistant did an amazing job capturing great photos of the guests and every aspect of the wedding. Heather Moreau is so talented and literally captured every shot I wanted and many more. I absolutely love my photos. She was easy to work with, a good listener, and very professional. She took my pinterest board and recreated every shot I wanted and many more. We walked all-around downtown Laguna Beach and she captured incredible photos! Vallentyne Photography was professional and responsive to all my emails and phone calls. Vallentyne Photography went above and beyond my expectations and I would recommend her to anyone planning a wedding or anyone who wants stunning photos for any occasion! read more

Warning: you will feel like a model after your shoot with Heather. She's truly amazing at what she does. I recently had a boudoir session with Heather after I was recommended to her by a friend. I was a little weary about taking these types of photos and was so nervous! I thought I would be completely awkward, but right from the get go Heather made me feel more than comfortable. She was so good at directing me in the right angles for the most flattering poses. There were so many great photos to choose from, I was worried that I wouldn't like many since I'm super critical when it comes to photos of myself but that wasn't the case. I would highly recommend Heather for any type of photos, she listens to what you want and truly has a creative eye to make the photo turn from good to absolutely stunning. She works in the lighting in such a natural way the the entire composition of the photo comes out so well! Her studio was great since we were able to get in a variety of looks in a short amount of time so I had plenty of options to choose from. I'm so happy I'll have these photos to look back on when I'm older and Heather made it such a great experience. read more

We were NOT disappointed.............We hired Heather at Vallentyne Photography after reading the reviews on Yelp because we had decided to move up our wedding date and was in need of a photographer on short notice. Heather was amazing with her initial questions to establish our vision for the pictures and subsequent follow up on what we had in mind. Heather arrived early and had such a warm and inviting way about her that we were instantly at ease in front of her and with all of her great direction and poses. I am NOT comfortable in front of a camera but she really made me feel welcome and natural. The small and intimate ceremony was captured through her lens without her even being noticed. She also took candid shots of our family and friends which really told the story of our day! Our pictures arrived as promised and needless to say we were delighted with the final product..........a beautiful pictorial of OUR special day. thank you Heather for your kindness, professionalism and creative work!!! read more

Heather is an amazing photographer. I booked her services to take some very tasteful photos for my husband's birthday. From start to finish she was the utmost professional! She made me feel totally comfortable and relaxed. She assisted me with poses to capture my best physical features and helped me to pick out the clothing that would work best for the type of photo shoot. I wish I could have purchased every single photograph she took. They were all gorgeous, sensual, artistic and everything I could ever have imagined! If you've ever thought about doing such a photo shoot but where too shy or worried it might not be what you envisioned, work with Heather! She will ensure that the both the experience and photographs are cherished forever. read more

I wholeheartedly recommend Heather and Vallentyne Photography! Heather took our family pictures with my 2-year old son, and I could have sworn we didn't get any good pictures because he would not sit still! He ran all over the place, never stood in one pose for more than a second, and it was impossible to get him to calm down. I kept apologizing to Heather about my son not being able to sit still and she was so patient and kind and reaffirming, and kept telling me to "not worry about it" and "I'm getting great shots" and "he's doing great." When I got our proofs the following week I could not believe it ... she captured so many beautiful and amazing photos of my son and our family. In fact, it was hard to pick my favorites there were so many! Heather was very tolerant and easy-going with my son and she was able to put me at ease (but she has two young children of her own so I'm sure she understands the exasperation that comes with trying to take pictures of young kids!) If you have babies and children, I would definitely go to Heather. We have kid #2 along the way, and I can't wait for her to take pictures of our family again. read more
