However, we arrived and found the museum was closed for renovations, so we went to the temporary site. The highlight of the displays was a video of the Roman times in Nijmegen, however it was only in Dutch with no subtitles. There were some other displays available, but the descriptions were only in Dutch and German. We found another video on display, which wasn't working. We were really disappointed in the town of Nijmegen and its museum.

This is the main city theater in Nijmegen. I played two nights here with a touring show and I was…read morenot really impressed. The building is a 1960s postwar build, and I'm not sure how much it has been renovated since then. I don't know what it's like on the audience side but backstage is very small and cramped, the toilets have some kind of problem so that the bathroom SMELLS and the orchestra pit is a very deep and dark hole under the stage. Not ideal at all because you can't see anything that's happening on stage or communicate with them at all! The balconies of the theater hall are decorated with wicker, which I found very odd. I'd never seen a theater decorated with wicker panels before. Maybe it was a much cooler accessory in the 1960s but it just looks super weird. All in all, I am not a fan of this theater. However, as it's the main theater in Nijmegen you won't have much choice if you're a theater lover.

Came here for two reasons curiosity and what else do you do on a Friday night in the middle of no…read morewhere. Located right next to the hotel where I was staying the Valk Hotel in Duiven. You actually have to exit the hotel walk across parking lot and there it is. In fact the hotel has a couple of slot machines off to the side in the lobby. So as you enter the casino a lady hands you a red square piece of paper with some writing on it. Can you say I don't speak Dutch? Anyway this is not Las Vegas but it was packed just the same. There was a woman walking around on a microphone but had no clue on what she was saying. My colleague put some Euros in the slot machines and that kept him busy for awhile. He could not tell that he still had money in the machine as he tried to walk away. In the end he made his donation and we left. Of course I had to check out the ladies room before venturing out in the cold. They were clean and no wait. As for the casino they say it opened 2 weeks ago. Congrats to you and the people of Duiven.

Let me set the scene: Two nights ago, my best friend of almost 20 years wanted to do a hair dying and movie/snacks night with me. Can't leave the house as she has 3 kiddos under 6 who are all in bed. I agreed to let her tamper with my hair (which has only been touched by professionals in the last 8 years or so since I've had a couple of bad blonde experiences) but should have suggested face masks and manicures, but I digress. We dyed her hair a neutral brown with some lovely cararmel-y and cherry notes. Turned out great, got all her grays covered... Next up moi - we wash and dry, and I am left with a golden sunset for roots, which really is a lovely color but does not go with my skin tone. I look terrible. :\ So I walked into COEF (another great friend goes there often to get her hair done and recommended them), and chatted with a couple of people, when Theo came up and mentioned he was also a color enthusiast, and had experience with thick hair (his hair being super curly and very robust looking), I trusted his word and made an appointment for the next day. NOTE: This was an expensive appointment, but Theo really took care of me, using Olaplex throughout the whole process to ensure the least amount of breakage, plus a cut, wash and blowdry. He also got to use the new No. 7 oil from Olaplex which I highly recommend. My hair looks, feels, and smells lovely, feels healthy and strong again, and we had a pleasant time chatting and getting to know each other. I am definitely going back, and I absolutely recommend Theo. He's really passionate about hair, takes his time to make sure the client is happy, is kind, easy to laugh with and just a general overall great hair-care guru. He saved my hair.
