My emotional-support animal was wearing an ESA harness, yet an employee attempted to deny us entry, even though I personally watched several other customers enter and leave with dogs without being questioned. Unfortunately, my travel route required me to stop at this location twice. During my second visit, I overheard the same employee whispering to another worker about me and my animal. She said that she had already addressed us before and was now going to "let us do whatever we wanted." Shortly afterward, the other worker approached me and demanded to see my dog's "papers." Meanwhile, the other customers with dogs were not approached or asked to provide documentation. I explained the situation to employees at the neighboring gas station, and they told me they had heard about similar experiences involving this location. The way I was singled out, watched, discussed, and confronted made me feel unwelcome and racially targeted. Spend your money somewhere that treats every customer with equal dignity and respect. If you are Black, I strongly recommend taking your business elsewhere.
