What I have appreciated the most from this school, is that they don't tolerate bullying. I admire and appreciate this. Waging peace. Also, when something goes wrong, they take action and go on to communicate with parents about the situation and how its being handled. This school has my respect and trust. I have reassurance that every student matters to the school. How beautiful! Also, my daughter is the happiest she's ever been and I thank you Saint Gen for giving her the tranquility and the feeling of belonging we longed for. This school is unique. I appreciate all your hard work to make each child feel safe and like they belong. May god bless this school now and always. Thank you for everything!

Ms Sanders is a great teacher. My child has thrived after being in her class. The school as a whole is wonderful the staff knows our child and is very attentive. Truly it is a small net community but very diverse. They learn how to present and read, math, and write with some grammar by Kinder. Very impressed, parents its a family effort, so if you are willing to support your child with the homework, that is fantastic, if not daycare has your back for daily HW. I am looking forward to culturing my childs growth with St. Genevieve.

Liggett Street Elementary School - Cat injured and locked underground

    Liggett Street Elementary School

NO CATS ARE BEING HARMED OR TRAPPED AT LIGGETT ST ELEMENTARY…read more This story is full of misinformation and false accusations. No cats are trapped inside the school and no cats are being abused by staff. There is a large number of feral cats on the campus. There is one building that the cats were going underneath that access had been blocked. That building is used by the school's youngest students who are also developmentally disabled. The cats have urinated and defecated all over these student's playground equipment. The school has instructed the students to not approach the cats and will not tolerate any abuse of these animals. The principal's main priority is the safety of the students. There are tin cans of cat food being slid under the fence of the school directly onto the developmentally disabled children's playground, which is a major safety concern, and the staff are removing the cans immediately when found. The barriers preventing access to underneath the building(s) that were destroyed by misinformed vandals were replaced with reinforced material that would be extremely difficult to remove, and cameras installed to monitor the access points. No cats are trapped under any buildings, and the school, like the people posting here just want the cats removed. Removing the cats and immediately releasing them into to the surrounding neighborhood is not a solution, as the cats will just come back. These feral cats and the students of the school cannot coexist on the campus as it is an obvious safety issue. The school and the district hiring a private firm to remove the cats and bring them to an animal shelter is the only viable solution. No one is harming the animals at the school and the photo of the injured cat, which is a sad and horrible image isn't proof of any wrongdoing by anyone working at the school. Someone living by the school has stated they will be photographing and videotaping the school all day "to monitor the situation" An adult taking video and photos of young children at school is extremely troublesome, even if they claim its being done out of concern for the cats. The bottom-line is, there are no cats trapped at the school under any buildings and no cats are being harmed by staff. but the school is not a cat sanctuary, and these cats must be removed for the safety of the students.

To any parent searching for a school to enlist their children to or transfer their child to be…read moreaware of what sort of school Ranchito is. I have had a long list of problems since my child began attending this disaster of a school. Of course a child's upbringing begins at home I am sure many parents are aware of that. Still that does not absolve our children's school from any form of responsibility that they have to our children. First and foremost it begins with the principal who at the top maintains order and governance as the spearhead giving direction, order and proper discipline to not only the students but to their employees and subordinates. Mr. Edwin Molina is anything but a proper leadership figure for this school. He makes parents aware that he is upholding children's education and growth into proper upstanding members of society although it's far from that. The school is plagued with many problems only fueled by his incompetence as a "principal" and why do I say that? Mr. Molina is one of the first to call DCFS on any parent at suspected child abuse at the home. Does not make the proper decisions in making sure it is actually true. Still granted it is correct to make sure a child is not a victim of child abuse. What about when there is on site child abuse? Bullying? When your child instead of coming home with a smile on their face of having a good day at school? When your child arrives home that they were ignored by a teacher or teacher's aide? When you hear your child express that a child had his eye poked out and the child responsible threatens to hurt and kill others at the school? That the child only got a suspension, a slap on the wrist? That the principal is nowhere to say a word? At that point its enough and parents take consideration to what school you entrust your child to. It is not fair to anyone's child to get a principal who is nothing but far below acceptable and irresponsible. This school is nothing but complete and utter disappointing as a proper school.
