If it could get worse, it did. The practitioner they finally found for my child is leaving so no new appt. But they waited to tell her after two weeks when she had one pill left and cannot do a refill because there is no new practitioner in place. This triggered a visit to the ED! And still no meds - this is unacceptable! read more

Avoid Valera Health at all costs. My experience with Valera Health was not just disappointing--it was dangerous. Their complete lack of professionalism and clinical oversight nearly caused a medical crisis. Without any warning or plan, they abruptly discontinued my Vyvanse prescription, a controlled stimulant, without implementing any kind of tapering process or providing medical supervision. No wean-down. No guidance. No safety net. I was left to detox cold turkey from a powerful medication, which resulted in a severe crash that could have been entirely prevented with even the most basic standard of care. When you're dealing with mental health, especially controlled substances, there is no room for negligence. Valera's handling of my case showed a shocking disregard for patient safety and basic medical ethics. I trusted them with my health, and they put me in serious danger. If you value your well-being, I strongly urge you to look elsewhere. They'll be lucky not to hear from my attorney. -- Joshua D. read more

Good luck trying to get a response from anyone. It's impossible to get in touch with anyone to change/cancel appointments.

I would not recommend Valera Health. I saw one of their providers, Dr. Gladys Kigigha, for what my sleep doctor called "medication management" -- so Dr. Kigigha could essentially oversee my taper off of a medication I had become reliant on for sleep. Dr. Kigigha asked me zero questions about myself and only read several questions from a form. When I finally told her why I was there to see her, she refused to offer any taper guidance and completely brushed me off. Part of my request included writing an Rx for this medication and she was reluctant to do so because, she acknowledged, people can become dependent on it. While I understand her reluctance -- she stated the problem herself! I had already become dependent on the medication, and here I was following the proper channels to responsibly taper off. I asked if she could at least offer a taper schedule even without writing a prescription, but she refused to do even that. She knew tapering inappropriately carried risks, yet she just decided to wash her hands of me than to actually do what a good doctor would do and help. Instead, I left feeling very alone. I have successfully been tapering off this medication alone, but I am still so dismayed by the lack of support. When I emailed Valera Health about this issue, there was zero response. Mental health care should prioritize patient safety, especially with medications that carry known withdrawal risks. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here. I would urge other patients in similar situations to proceed with caution or seek a provider willing to offer comprehensive, compassionate care. read more

I'd read and listen to the other reviews -- wish I had. They echo my experience. Took several correspondences over many days to get scripts sent in properly. Ended up going elsewhere. read more

I would not recommend Valera Health to anyone struggling with any kind of mental illness. I was referred by my physician to use a therapist with Valera. I liked her, she was nice, but not helpful at all. Anything I talked about, she would simply tell me she was emailing me a worksheet. That was it. I could google worksheets and do them myself if I thought that was helpful. Not only that, but she cancelled my appointments last minute regularly. Then, I had to reschedule an appointment ONE TIME, and I get an email from Valera saying that I'm being "fired" from that therapist. LOL. They said I could contest it, but honestly it wasn't doing anything for me. Then I got a referral for a psychiatric nurse practitioner to talk about my ADHD diagnosis, and talk about starting medications. The NP was very nice, but she made some weird faces when I talked about certain things with ADHD. It let me know that she was going off her textbook knowledge of ADHD, and probably didn't do any kind of research into how people with ADHD struggle, especially when they are diagnosed late in life. She finally agreed to start me on medication, and then we went to telehealth appointments every 3 months to check in. Several times, I was scheduled for a telehealth appointment, and then on the day of my appointment, suddenly I didn't have one. Sending them messages is ridiculous, because it takes forever to get a response. One time, I scheduled a telehealth appointment during my 1 hour lunch break at work. I went out to my car to connect on my phone, and it wouldn't work at all. I never received a call from the NP to check in and see why I was late. I even tried to call the main Valera number, and the person who answered was like, "Oh, weird. let me try to call her and I'll get back to you." and nobody ever called me back. Apparently I wasn't even scheduled!!! Several times, the provider cancelled my appointment last minute, which is really frustrating considering I plan my entire day around that appointment. I have to do it at home, because the connection on my phone is unreliable. Then recently, I missed an appointment. It was an accident, and I thought it was scheduled for several hours later than it was. This was the first time I had missed an appointment. I received no message or call to check in. I messaged her and apologized, and asked to reschedule. I also asked for a refill of medication, and that message was ignored. I sent several medication refill requests through the app, and also messaged her 5 different times because I had now been out of my meds for several days. She finally, after 12 days since I initially messaged her, responded to tell me that she will be refusing to refill my medications because she hadn't seen me within the allotted timeframe, and I should contact my pcp for a refill for this month. Nothing about how SHE cancelled last time, and how she's always 10+ minutes late to my appointment, or how she tells me she will schedule something and then not actually do it. Thankfully, my pcp sent a refill for me the same day I put in the request. I am absolutely done with Valera. It's not worth it. I will find a different company, and see if my pcp will continue prescribing it for me in the meantime. You CANNOT mess with people's mental health like this, especially when it comes to controlled substances. For the week where I was without my meds, I was in danger of harming myself. I could not stay awake, and when I was awake, my suicidal ideation got so much worse. Absolutely bananas how they treat patients with mental illness when they are supposed to be HELPING US! read more

horrible services and when you initiate to get your records from them they will literally make it extremely impossible, I been sending messages and calling their offices in so many places and because I state my name they already have it to where they will put me on hold for the call to drop after hours on hold, they won't ever provide the records I'm entitled to have to me or no other provider. The therapist will lie about you and use made up emotions to destroy your credibility when all you just simply want is your records read more

Absolute garbage. I only use it because it's the only thing my insurance takes. The providers barely speak English and the customer service people have no idea what's happening. This is why some things just shouldn't be online only. Luckily I just need them to fill my meds. If you're actually struggling with mental illness please PLEASE get real help. read more

Valera Health's care--or complete lack thereof--was not only unprofessional but genuinely dangerous. I was abruptly discharged with no warning, no follow-up plan, no refills, and no transition support. I was simply cut off, left to figure things out on my own, despite being on psychiatric medication that requires careful management. Worse still, they abruptly changed my medication without adequate explanation or monitoring, which caused a serious chemical imbalance and destabilized me emotionally and physically. Then, just as suddenly, they stopped the same medication entirely--without any tapering or support--causing a severe chemical crash that put me in a frightening and unsafe mental state. I reached out repeatedly for help--by email and by phone--asking for guidance on tapering safely, seeking answers, clarity, and medical advice. I was completely ignored. Not a single response. Not even an acknowledgment. When I brought up issues with the provider I was seeing and asked to be transferred, that request was also ignored. No alternative was offered. I was essentially told to deal with it or leave. When I shared that I was experiencing intense anxiety, it was dismissed as something "in my head," as if I were being dramatic or imagining it--an incredibly harmful response from any mental health provider. Valera Health's approach to care is, in my experience, careless, dismissive, and incredibly unsafe. They abandoned me during a vulnerable time and left me without the tools or support to manage my mental health responsibly. I would never recommend them to anyone seeking real, compassionate, or even minimally competent mental health care. Please be cautious--your safety and well-being deserve better. read more

If I could rate this place zero stars I would. I only ender up here because of my insurance provider. The first "Provider" they put me with I had to report to NYS as they put literal falsehoods in my medical records. The Second provider You have to remind 4 to 5 times a month to send in the prescription that they claimed to have sent in. In my case it was a medication you cannot just go cold turkey on without serious health complications. I should not have to beg to get my prescription filled. The Communication of the entire organization is subpar at best. Not to mention each month you have email their billing department to remind them to apply your payment to your profile. Save yourself the trouble and just find an in person doctor. read more

AVOID VALERA HEALTH! they will contribute immeasurably to your distressful situations by repeatedly promising to call you or follow up without ever doing so. they did it to me knowing I was dealing with the recent passing of my father. After my first hour-long meeting with a therapist Jan T who affirmed repeatedly the time and date of our next meeting, I was ghosted by Jan T and made several calls subsequently where I was promised by a rep I'd get a call "usually within three business days." Don't waste your time it's now been months and four phone calls and lies from them and today more of the same when I called. read more

Short Version : Inconsistent care, questionable diagnoses, and unprofessional discharge. (Read more for details) Medium Version: My initial experience was great, but care became inconsistent with frequent therapist changes and unprofessional situations. Additionally, I received a questionable ADHD diagnosis and limited cultural awareness from psychiatrists. Looong Version: Again, initial experience was great. The first person I spoke with was kind and seemed genuinely interested in what I was looking for in a therapist. My first therapist was excellent--the best I've ever had--but it went downhill after she left the company. The next provider had someone else in the room and seemed to be speaking from her bedroom. I requested a specific time slot with the following therapist, but after one session, they told me they couldn't accommodate future sessions. I had another great therapist, but they left the company as well. The next one seemed relatively new. I was discharged unprofessionally--I informed my therapist I'd be on vacation for about a month, then received a discharge email without warning. Finding decent psychiatrists was equally frustrating. I was diagnosed with ADHD and prescribed Adderall after basically just answering a questionnaire. I felt a deeper assessment was needed. A year later, another psychiatrist said I didn't have ADHD, admitted to having no experience with the disorder, and claiming if I had it, I likely would have been diagnosed as a child. There was a clear lack of awareness regarding gender and cultural bias. I requested to switch providers, but three months later, they informed me they had put in the wrong request. I never got another provider. I also recently requested a copy of my medical records and had to chase them down just to get confirmation that my request was received. We'll see if I ever get them. read more

They hung up on me for trying to make an appointment, everytime you can its a 45 to 60 min wait

LITERALLY ZERO STARS. I have been struggling for a while and finally got the encouragment to seek help and my doctor referred me to this program. I will be telling her the next time I meet with her that this is NOT a program that should be recomended. NOT USER FRIENDLY! I called many times to get my insurance uploaded so that the therapist I booked with could see my records, I called to find out how to even see the profiles of different therapists, I called to find out how to reschedule, switch or cancel appointments, even to book them. I WAS OUT OF "NORMAL BUSINESS HOURS"! No I was not, I would check and I was calling within business hours, I was never able to get a hold of anyone and when I left multiple messages over the course of multiple days I NEVER got a call back! And APPARENTLY the only way to get it scheduled is to start the begining process of signing up as a new user EVERYTIME, then your therapist is the one that sets up the appointments and can switch them on you if they want. My therapist during the consultation was amazing so I don't fault her for any of these issues in fact she suffered from this programs lack of tranparency as well, unable to access any of my medical records even though I had been referred to her. I am slightly deterred from using any online therapy programs ever again. I am beyond frustrated because what was supposed to be getting me to a better place added to my many stresses and problems. DO NOT USE THIS PROGRAM. Please do the research yourself to find a route that will actually provide care and support to you or those you know that are in need of care. read more

As a former employee, I can attest to the patient reviews of this company. Valera does not answer their phones, they do not answer emails from Patients, providers and insurance companies. TERRIBLE SERVICE! ZERO STARS! Not only did I wait over 5hrs for a call back, but when I finally had my appointment the provider gave me a script for a medication I had already taken that I told her didn't help at all. I put in an offical request for a new provider as it was clear she was not a match for me. She clearly didn't listen & her personal feelings regarding ADHD medications didn't allow her to do what was best for me as her patient. My request was denied and then when I told them I will never be coming back, the receptionist said she will put in for a discharge request, I would have to see if it would be approved. I told her do that, I definitely won't be contacting them again. I'm still getting messages about scheduling appointments though. read more

My healthcare provider Simone Peart did not care about my wellbeing nor did she provide me with adequate care. She was very combative with me during sessions, had an extremely hard and inflexible wall up that didn't allow me to feel comfortable to open up to her. Her outreach to me was very poor and she in fact lied about provider to patient care policies so she didn't have to answer to me or do her job. She is likely burnt out and in it for the money. I believe she totally felt as if I was being needy and not doing my part of the therapy. I had simply asked for more support while respecting her professional and personal boundaries and she was passive aggressive towards me. I was failed by this provider. Simone has the potential to be a great. Great as in a somewhat motivational speaker or poet as she uses flowery and sometimes uplifting language, but when it actually comes to trauma based work and cognitive behavioral therapy, shes lacking. She is also lacking in empathy. Therapy is not her path. I have expressed my grievances with Valera and have had no follow up as of yet. read more

This place is unprofessional and do not care for patients and there time. I don't know how this establishment is even around. No one knows what they're doing or what is even going on. The NJ provider was essentially a robot. The biggest issue was Valera Health might have the absolute worst billing process and system I've ever experienced. The website they direct you to doesn't show anything! The app only allows you to pay an amount without seeing a bill. I was with them for about 2 years. Their sketchy billing practices caused me major stress and anxiety. Absolutely horrible experience, I would call and argue with them to change the way they bill and to go back to the previous method, which was billing your co-pay before the session..And then my therapist who I thought actually cared about treating me up and left without warning once she got her independent license. She tried to pawn me off to another therapist.. I told her I wasn't comfortable starting with another therapist after getting used to her method of treatment. Truly painful, please do not use this service. I had some bizarre billing issues with my insurance where I suddenly had a $1,200 bill from Valera. I was blind sighted by this and attempted to call them back after they sent a vaguely threatening email. I've never posted a review on yelp before but after my experience with Valera Health I feel like I need to put out a warning. There is no positive aspect to being a patient here. Scheduling an appointment was fine originally but trying to change it.... I couldn't ever get through to a real person over the phone or even through the portal. I got charged a cancellation fee because no one reads messages or responds to the phone so I was considered a "no show". I think I got through to someone twice throughout the entire time I was a patient and that was after waiting an hour plus. During visits, I had to argue with my provider over medication changes each time I saw them and 90% of our appointment was us just sitting in silence while they read through my file. The worst of it was that zero of my prescriptions were filled on time. My first request didn't get filled for an entire month because the only communication Valera would respond to was during scheduled appointments. These were essential medications that, due to their ineffective system, I did not have access to for weeks/months at a time. Please, if you have any other options don't use this service. read more

This company is horrible! I had my first appointment all set up, did all the paperwork, etc. and they cancelled it a couple of hours before it was to happen. RUN away from Valera Health. I used them for 2.5 years, and last year began experiencing issues with the doctor sending claims to insurance for differing lengths/kinds of appointments than I actually received(I've had the exact same appointments for the entire time with them). They started sending me bills for way more than the appointments I had agreed to or was used to, and despite many contact attempts they auto-charged me anyway. I am four months into trying to get my money back for three different appointments and am ignored, not replied to, and sent vague scripted responses. they are committing insurance fraud and will not communicate or take responsibility to fix the issue. They will charge your insurance for wildly different amounts without any advance notice to you, and are legitimately impossible to reach via phone, email, or any other method. read more

DO NOT USE VALERA FOR MENTAL HEALTH CARE!!! I love my provider. At first, when you are signing up everyone is very friendly and helpful. Once you give them a card, it is apparently fair game to charge you any amount they feel like. Once you get to that point it is LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE to get anyone on the phone. No-one every answers. If you pretend to be a new patient, one of those people will call you back pretty quick. They will even be so kind as to start an email chain with the billing department. However, anyone in billing or customer service is only capable of reading from scripts and making sure you pay the maximum they think they can get away with. "Escalation" of your issue results in the same person sending you an email ten minutes later stating "My supervisor said...." followed by the same nonsense you already told them was unacceptable. Eventually, they will charge your card without permission, for an amount they weren't entitled to, and then refuse to credit it. They will continue sending you scripted paragraphs as to why they are allowed, they will copy and paste those paragraphs onto social media posts you make, and no-one will actually address your real concern. Meanwhile, your "mental health provider" is raising your anxiety levels through the roof, making your financial fears worse and not offering any real solutions. COMPASSION????? HA! read more
