We had a black tie outdoor summer wedding in the SF Bay Area (Nestldown) for 90 people + a welcome reception. Not only did everything run smoothly with no hiccups and a gorgeous atmosphere, we also got to truly enjoy the day instead of worrying about running the event, thanks to Thomas and his team - Nelson, Bonnie, and more. Working with Thomas was one of the best decisions in our planning process, especially as two busy professionals. His team handled all vendor sourcing and coordination, our wedding website, invites, and so much more. We interviewed several planners and chose Thomas because of his design sense and gracious, kind attitude. He is a calming presence, makes himself available, checks in when needed, and accommodated our requests. He gives honest advice, and is very thoughtful about the guest experience. Guests complimented every aspect of our wedding, from the beautiful design and personalized it felt to us, to how smoothly everything went. Thomas's design sense is impeccable - we had a unique aesthetic vision but felt a lot of other planners' style wasn't what we were looking for. Thomas immediately understood our creative direction and found the perfect vendors and venue to bring the vision to life. Vendors really love working with him, and they all did an amazing job on our wedding. Though he is based in San Diego, it felt like he was local - he has great relationships with Bay Area vendors, and traveled to SF several times during planning (at no additional cost to us) so he could be hands-on and available. He also has team members in SF which made logistics seamless. Thomas is a warm, friendly professional, talented event planner, and supported by a fantastic team. We absolutely recommend Thomas to anyone who wants an elevated, design-forward wedding, especially busy couples who need real full-service planning support they can rely on.

Thomas truly thought of everything. He anticipated needs we didn't even know we had and was incredibly detail oriented. Thanks to them, we didn't have to worry about a single thing and could actually enjoy every moment of our wedding weekend. We're still getting compliments about how beautiful our wedding was, and we know most of it is because of Thomas and his team. You will not regret hiring Thomas--do it. Honestly, I'd marry Jordon all over again just to attend another Thomas Bui event!

That sense of calm was so helpful, especially in a moment where everything can feel overwhelming. Thank you Korie for making my day so much better, you were the cherry on top! What stood out most was how detailed she was and how confidently she knew exactly what she was doing. She had a clear plan, handled everything smoothly, and always knew what needed to happen next to keep the day running effortlessly. Most importantly, she knew our venue very well, had many years of experiences working at Paradise Point so everything was just so fluid. Even though there were small hiccups here and there, Korie knew how to solve it without having to bother me. Thank you for making sure I felt at peace on my wedding day. I would highly recommend Korie to anyone looking for a coordinator who goes out of her way to make sure all of your needs are taken care of. She made a huge difference and helped make our wedding day feel stress-free and well organized. Before my wedding, I interviewed a number of people and Korie stood out the most to me. I love that she is always so energetic and lively, I need that kind of person around me. Always nearby to make sure I was taken care of with whatever I needed. Thank you Korie for giving me a magical experience the past weekend, I can't thank you enough! :)

Another newlywed couple with nothing but glittering remarks for Victoria. She is a consummate…read moreprofessional and we are thrilled to share our experience with her here on Yelp: The first thing you have to appreciate with Victoria is the fact that she is with you every single step of the way. She is excellent with both phone and email communication and is certain to make sure she is working within your comfort zone. She has built quite a rapport with San Diego's top event planning and catering services, and she shares this high quality with her clients as needed. Her strategy, though intimidating at first, makes our reflection on this event a very positive one: "I am going to front-load a lot of this stuff far in advance," she opened up with. The tasks were daunting, but looking back, we would not have done it any other way. My wife and I were up to the challenge, and completing a lot of the planning about 6-7 months in advance not only relieved stress later down the line, but allowed for Victoria to really work her magic in ensuring that every detail of our events were flawless. Victoria was incredibly flexible. She helped us plan both a wedding ceremony in Hawaii and a reception event in San Diego. A lot of resources were needed to pull both events together, and Victoria made sure that things ran seamlessly, even combating a last-minute rain storm in Maui! Victoria works closely her fiancé Paul Barnett, who works as a photographer in the San Diego area. One review on this site felt that this was a conflict of interest, but nothing could be further from the truth. Paul is a wizard with the lens and when given the opportunity to work with the thorough planning of Victoria, magic happens. Their planning chemistry not only makes them more fun to work with, but also results in a unbelievable product. We cannot say enough about Victoria's abilities. Utilizing her talents to help plan our wedding was the best decision we made for our special day. THANK YOU, VICTORIA!!!

As the Father of the Bride, I was very concerned with the total package and the cost of doing a wedding in California, when we live in Saint Louis. Frankly, I was skeptical of the value of having a wedding planner - but soon came about face and highly recommend this now. We had no idea what to expect and how difficult things would be, and started looking at doing this on our own. Our daughter lives in SD, works full time and is going to school full time as well. There was no way she could do the planning, have my wife research the venues and make the connections and still maintain her sanity!. We decided that a wedding planner was necessary, and our daughter found out about Victoria from a friend who had her help with the planning of her wedding. When we first talked, I was impressed by Victoria's ability to calm my fears of cost spiraling, keep things on a rational level and still develop ideas to make this a truly special event. She dealt from a business perspective with me and from a designer and planner with my wife and my daughter. Victoria gave us an estimate of the budget we would need, and we came pretty close to it, despite making many changes to the specifics. Victoria has great contacts, has significant experience with all aspects of the wedding and got involved in the planning right up front, recommended outstanding people to help us with the music, decorations, meal planning, invitations and the theme of the wedding. It was PERFECT! The best thing was that, after all the work we put into this wedding, Victoria took over the rehearsal and the wedding day and ran everything so that we could relax and enjoy the wedding. She made our big day the best time we've had since our wedding 34 years ago, and it was definitely worth the effort and the cost. She made the whole process easier. She never criticized our decisions, was as involved or as remote as we needed, and when it came to crunch time, she was definitely the best. I highly recommend Victoria for planning and executing the perfect wedding day - whether you are from way out of town, as we were, or close by. From our experience, I would definitely recommend a planner and highly recommend Victoria as the best in the area. You cannot go wrong.

Although it has been a year, my husband and I are still reminded of the disappointment, sadness and…read moreembarrassment that was caused on our wedding day due to our hiring of Yvonne as a "day of wedding coordinator". In the days following our wedding, we were informed by multiple attendees of her inappropriate and unprofessional behavior. Family and friends of ours could not believe that she was our "day of coordinator"! Many of our guests witnessed her lack of attention to the details that were important to my wedding day. From the moment our vendors arrived to set up the beach deck, to the actual wedding ceremony to the start of the reception.... Her duties were neglected....Rather than assist in making sure things went smoothly and as planned....she instead told my friends who arrived early to help out that details were NOT her responsibility, she indulged in alcohol, stood from a distance on the deck and just observed the ceremony, then went on to dance inappropriately, intimidate guests, and request songs she wanted to hear to the DJ at my reception. It was very obvious that she made her priority having fun while fully neglecting the actual duty for which she was hired! Yvonne and I met the week before my wedding and went through a binder with a list of expectations and obligations for which I paid her $350 to complete. She made no mention that she was going to be incapable of fulfilling those duties. I am still appalled that she did not hold up her end of the agreement. In addition, it took her over a month to return my day-of binder to me. She first said she mailed it, then after multiple emails, she finally said it was not mailed and that she would drop it off at my condo. I should not have had to spend so much time trying to get it back from her! Furthermore, it became an even wider eye-opener when we received our wedding video and pictures from the day. She is clearly visible in the background of the video and pictures standing off to the side with a drink in her hand, grinding on our guests, and appears completely intoxicated - not acting professional at all. A true embarrassment! When I found out that she had to be asked to leave the reception, I was in disbelief! In the time since I was married, I have had 4 friends also get engaged. When they inquired about hiring a wedding planner/coordinator, rather than be able to recommend her, I had to be honest and tell them NOT to hire her. It makes me sick to my stomach to think about the fact that I paid her $350! Don't try to get a refund from Yvonne directly, file a claim with the Better Business Bureau and then go through small claims court in San Diego. Contact the Small Claims Advisor at (858) 634-1777 to guide you through the process. This is a free service. When I went through Yvonne for a refund, she tried to make me sign what she called a "refund agreement" which is pretty much a gag order to prevent myself and anyone I know, and all my wedding guests from speaking about her and her service. It was a bogus document! Also, the file she sent me had someone else's name on it... Save your $$$ and hire someone else! Message me if you want any more details of information.

I'm leaving this review to help any prospective brides make their decision, as I did not see a lot of reviews from married couples who booked this venue when I was looking. We got married at St. Paul's Cathedral down the street and came here for our reception. We were enamored by the gorgeous interior which required minimal decoration- it's already so beautiful! When planning, I was initially matched with a planner who was newer, so it was slightly difficult to get connected to the vendors and plans I needed. However, my planner later got switched out for Sara, who is very experienced in the wedding business and connected me with affordable vendors and answered all my questions! We chose the filet mignon with prawns and pesto chicken as our entrees. I didn't try the chicken, but my filet was absolutely amazing! One thing to consider when booking city cruises, you will not have a say in your DJ when picking your package. The DJ that was chosen for us pronounced my wedding party's names incorrectly, played some songs that were on the do-not-play list, and started packing up early, which was really awful. I would've appreciated the opportunity to vet my own DJ, as I was reassured this DJ was top notch which was not the case. However, all in all, I have no regrets with choosing the Abbey as my wedding venue and would encourage others to do the same! We felt we got great value out of our package and our guests had an amazing time. The venue was gorgeous, the food was good, and everyone had fun. Thank you so much for the great experience!
