There is a lot of parking in the garage and an elevator to take you to the right floor. I was grateful to the other kind ladies that gave me directions. I went thru security quickly. Stood in line to check in. All really smooth and efficient. Big room with lots of screens to update you on information. Although I was selected for a judges trial, the case never came to fruition and we were cut loose just before lunch. I made $30. Excellent.

There is security at the entrance, so they will ask you to pull out all your electronics out of your bag to put in a basket that goes through a machine. You get cleared, and you proceed to go up the escalators to the assembly room where you check in, and wait. (Make sure to check in every day that you go in, so they know that you were there). The staff were all friendly with happy-go-lucky faces at 8 in the morning. Once you check in, they tell you where to sit to wait for your bailiffs. There was coffee in the back, and magazines to look at on the right hand side of the room. The projector screen at the front of the room has a few slides playing on repeat about what to expect and how much you will be compensated. Here in gwinnett county, it's $30 per day, that comes after a couple weeks in the form of a debit card. Around 9am, we were assigned seating arrangements, and I got seated one seat to the left (I guess I got lucky, haha). Anyway, we waited another hour or so before we were called into the courtroom. There were about 40 of us, and they only choose ~12 people for the jury. The attorneys asked everyone general questions, then asked individuals specific questions, which took forever. We took a 15 min break where we went back to the assembly room/used the restrooms/ etc. Then went back in around 11:50am. The attorneys continued to asked questions til 12:30pm, where we took our 1 hr lunch break. I ate something in the cafeteria downstairs which ill review as well. Back to the court room, they ended up only asking 28/40 people individual questions because they had already had an idea of who to choose to be in their jury. They took 30-40 min to decide the final 12. Those who were not chosen went back to the assembly room, and got dismissed. By the time I left, it was already ~3pm. Before, if you were dismissed from jury duty from one panel, they would have you wait for the next panel to open up, but as of recently, if you get dismissed from the first panel, you are done for the rest of the week. You wont be summoned for jury duty for another two to three years. Hooray! We are all great citizens. All in all, minus the waiting, this was a great experience, and I hope to be selected to be part of a jury one day. The building smelled like the airport, and was really nice and neat. There were restrooms everywhere, so dont worry about not being able to find one. On a side note: if youre like me and you forgot to call in before jury duty and missed a day, you can just call to reschedule. But dont miss it on purpose. I literally forgot til the day of. I can't complain about the poor telephone receptionist either, as she always had a pleasant voice and provided answers (when possible) to my questions. I can only imagine the grief she receives on a daily basis from disgruntled probationers and their loved ones. This office location listed (showing 1/24/17) is incorrect. They are actually located at 410 W Oak Street in Lawrenceville.

It's literally an adult alternative high school, no those old episodes of Maury where all the bad ass kids come n tell what they did then the drill sergeant comes out yells profanity at them then takes them to the back... Yup just like that except will pay fines, and aren't always allowed to leave the state. Most of us are ashamed of our crimes, and they treat most of us there like child murders. Then when you're not friendly to them it's a problem. I hated my three yr probation but I got the fuck on after. Gwinnett will suck the life out of you if you let it. Officer Robertson n Greene were straight, very understanding and wants they want you doing your best.

I was able to get some specific answers from the city codes people here and they were quite helpful despite the fact that they had a guy who was throwing a fit in the room. Apparently he begin remodeling on a house before he applied for the proper licensing and now he realizes it's going to cost him several thousands more dollars than he had anticipated....I feel for the guy but it's not the city worker's fault....take it up with your state representative... first off i'm from ohio and the jails up there are like adult daycares compared to gwinnett county…read morejail, even the justice center downtown cleveland is way way cleaner and better run then the crap show at gwinnett. they have fruit flys all over the entire jail, the showers are beyond disgusting, they do nothing if your withdrawaling off opiates, i slept on the floor in booking for over 3 days with 29 other people in a 15ft by 15ft cell with no blankets no water and using toilet paper rolls for a pillow and my stretched out shirt as a blanket, the food is absolute slop and almost inedible, the showers are absolutely disgusting in every pod/tower there are fruit flys everywhere and all they do is put fly sticky strips out which do absolutely nothing to kill the gnats. it's completely unsanitary and almost borderline human cruelty the way they treat people. it should not take 3-4 days to check somebody into the jail, and get to there pod!!!! it's literally just a money machine they do not have any dignity or respect for any human beings that walk through that door, i was assaulted by some mentally unstable person in one of the holding cells for no reason other than i looked his way, he punched me in the neck and stomach 3 times because he was schizophrenic and they did absolutely nothing for me after the assault. the showers are completely unsanitary and the most disgusting thing i have ever witnessed, certain deputies keep you in lockdown for the entire day with no showers allowed, because they are lazy and don't want to do there jobs and treat people with some dignity and treat us like absolute human waste. it was thee worst experience of my life they have no programs for inmates to get better no aa or na classes no anger management nothing for inmates to actually get better that want to get better and succeed in life. they put lights out at 11 pm then wake you up for breakfast at 3am then serve lunch at 9a.m. sometimes 8am then dinner at 2-3pm. if you are a pod porter that serve the people in your pod and clean up after everyone you get no time off your sentence which is an absolute scam. i was literally sick from the time i got into booking after sleeping on the floor for 3 days untill after i left a month later. the female deputies actually have sympathy and understand jail sucks and try to make it the best situation possible and are caring and will talk with you but the males deputies are a complete different story they keep you locked down for over 24 hours per day sometimes longer without allowing you to shower. most disgusting foul place i have ever been. do better, we are all humans some make bigger mistakes than others but that doesnt take away that we are human beings and deserve basic necessities. they threw me in the hole for 3 days and gave me food loaf because i told them i was having a hard time sleeping. theeeeee worst experience of my life bottom line. i would rather die then go back to that garbage place. oh and certain deputies will make fun of your disabilities even if you suffer from short term memory loss from a severe anoxic brain injury and lock you down in your cell for over 48 hours for asking for a cup of juice with your meal. ewwwwwwww. do better we are all humans treat us with some dignity or quit your job and find another job where you can be aholes all day. good day you foul swine

Well for those of you who have never attended traffic court on your own behalf....welcome. It moves…read morepretty quickly here. They are very organized and on a very rare occasion people leave without fines. I'd say depending on your charge there is a 90% chance you'll have the fine reduced if you plead nolo or guilty. If you ask for a ridiculous request the state rep will be sure to tell you and embarrass you in front of the entire court room. This court is here to collect funds so just be prepared to pay something. But I do suggest going to court to increase your. Janice of at least a reduced fine. They do accept credit/debit but no personal checks. Payment plans can also be arranged. They call defendants up in no particular order. I was in and out in just over an hour in a packed courtroom.
