Ok folks, get a drink...this is going to be a long one! (Part 1)
In September I took my daughter to V-salon to get a hair cut. We were new to the salon so we didn't have any particular stylist but my daughter requested some one who was good with short trendy hair styles. They recommended one that was known for that, and we went with it. Her first hair cut was excellent! We were very happy and my daughter was excited that she finally found someone she really liked.
Well that was the first experience and what would be the only good one.
About six weeks later I called and made an appointment to see the same stylist for my daughter to get a hair cut and color. We were running a few minutes behind because my daughter rehearsal ran a bit longer that night. When we walked in the door, we were exactly 8 minutes late. The lady at the front desk asked our name and said "you are late and she has to cancel your appointment." I just looked at her like you must be kidding... We are barely late? She said "no I'm not kidding." I then asked if she could at least cut her hair? And she replied "no." Now I am confused, we are booked for a cut and color, we are now just 10 minutes late and she wont even give her a hair cut that would only take a fraction of the time she was scheduled for? They refused. I was so angry, I wanted to tell them where to stick it but withheld, (only because my daughter liked her hair cut so much) and rescheduled my daughter's appointment.
Now they couldn't get her in with the same lady for weeks to come so we had to settle for two different stylists, the original to do the cut, and some one else for her color. I figured it would be okay because her hair was just bleached so they just had to do the roots, it shouldn't be a big deal.
Well the first mistake was that I did not go in with her, I had some errands to run and figured she would be okay.
The stylist decided to talk her into doing something completely different which basically was just a short cut to not put any extra time into it. Then the girl who did her color/bleach didn't bring it up enough, so the roots were brassy/orangey blonde which she admitted she needed to correct. She asked my daughter to come back in two days and my daughter explained she could not because her rehearsal schedule had doubled because it was the week before the play. I paid (which was my second mistake) and we left.
When we got home and into different light, I could see why she asked her to return, and agreed that we should go back since she offered to fix it.
I called to let them know that I did want it corrected (since it cost me $125) It should be right. I explained why we hadn't come sooner (her schedule was so tight there was no time) but after Saturday her play would be over and her schedule will free up. We found a date we could agree on and went in.
The stylist, myself and my daughter discussed what we should do with the badly bleached hair. and the sides of her head that were left uncolored. Yes, they left the sides light brown (her natural color) something the stylist also talked her into doing, (and as her mother) I would never approved!
The stylist said if she were to put bleach in the roots her hair may break (and gave me some other bull$hit) on why it turned orange. Basically she didn't put a high enough developer on it, I do know enough to figure that out on my own, though she never admitted that.
We ended up agreeing to put a completely different color on it, and just make the entire head auburn brown.
AT this point I left the salon, again to run some errands. When I returned and looked at my daughter, her hair was VERY bright, more orange than brown. The dye was all over her forehead, stained. She didn't put anything around the hair line so it was all over her skin! "Tabitha Takes Over" (Bravo) would have lost it! That's all I could think of...
When she finished drying and hair spraying her, she just directed me to the front desk and said "they will take care of you."
When I approached the desk the lady said "that will be $105." I was thinking to myself, wasn't I here for her to CORRECT the mistakes she made previously??? So I spoke up and said something before completing the check. They proceeded to argue with me that this wasn't a correction that it was a hair color. Now I am confused??... "Wait, wasn't I here because she needed to correct the hair color,"I repeated. They continually argued that we didn't come back soon enough and they couldn't do anything about the charges. I explained why we hadn't been in sooner, that is was impossible with my daughters schedule (the week before the play they rehearsed until 9:30 pm every night) and the only way would have been if I took her out of school, which was something I wasn't going to do. I got her in at the very first opportunity!
They absolutely refused to discount the bill or anything else. I would have been happy to pay something but $105 again, Really?? read more
