Park City's Main Street Trolley is a blessing to those of us who look up at the steep grade of Main…read moreStreet in Park City and do not relish the undertaking of a hardy walk up hill. So the wise city fathers (and mothers) decided to dedicate a trolley just for getting around town. Park City's downtown lists 64 buildings on the National Register of Historic Places. The town does boast a racy past and its rise to international resort status began during the 2002 Winter Olympics. There is a lot of dining here in town, which is where it is nice to have a free trolley to hop on after a big dinner and some fine wine. www.Utah.com said "Park City is rumored to have more restaurants per capita than any other city." There are over 100 restaurants to chose from in this small resort town. Which is why I got on in late September 2020. I was even surprised to see it operating since my hotel told me it was out of commission due to Covid. But on Sundays, at least when I visited, Main Street was closed for a type of street fair and, lo and behold, the trolley was running! Very happy too, because by riding it up and down, I got a great overview of the town and figured out where I wanted to go and which yummy places I might eat at. The ladies driving the trolley that day were very nice and courteous. They seem to have that valuable knack for working with the public and answering the same ole questions from tourists like me. But be advised: due to the pandemic, City Hall is considering suspending the trolley service amid a set of broad transit cutbacks recently proposed. "City Hall has proposed a dramatic reduction in transit service for the winter as officials prepare for the first full ski season during the spread of the novel coronavirus. There are expectations across Park City that tourism numbers will drop sharply during the ski season, leading to the blueprints to reduce transit service by 35% across the system," said a story on www.parkrecord.com. So, should you visit this charming mountain town and if the Trolley is running, jump on board for a respite from the big hill and a great ride too! 5 YELP STARS.

And not nearly as crowded either, I was going in and out of downtown on a weekend and there was plenty of seating each time. Ticket machines at every station that take credit cards no matter how far out and helpful staff / conductors with pleasant attitudes. Downtown "free fare zone" where you can enter and exit with no ticket is very small, but it does save you a kinda long walk in the cold going between the Intermodal station (Greyhound / Amtrak / Frontrunner) and the courthouse / library area of downtown.

In front of us I have a cool seating area with benches that have four levels of seating for taking group pictures. It's actually a really great idea and kind of awesome. I've been here before and I will say they run things so well. Well staffed with staff who really aim to do their jobs well. E have come through customs here, and it was a seamless operation. As stated in the review on United, the KTN number need to reflect on the boarding pass to bypass the BS long lines, removal of shoes, and outer clothing, etc. Explaining the deets to this soulless soul, was worse than returning to the kiosk to add the pre check. I removed my shoes, because I was pressed for time, and I also informed her of the tablet I had in my backpack, which is another additional step that had to be done in standard lines, which got my held up, and rechecked again. Annette did not want me to place my bin of belonging in line of the other bins, but she never came to my section to handle my bins. Even my iPad that had to be scanned separately returned before my shoes. And my bin with my shoes was place there BEFORE my BODY went through security. And BEFORE my backpack was scanned the first time, and my bag and iPad was scanned for the second time, and this golden girl Annette STILL WAS NOT PLACING MY BIN WITH ONLY MY SHOES ALONE IN THE LINE TO BE SCANNED. ARE YOU F-ING SERIOUS. I missed my flight for this incompetent outdated TSA agent. She def need to be replaced, or either reassigned to a complete different department, like the check in kiosk, that don't require any lifting; just touching some buttons, or answering a phone.

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly…read more We just returned from a Murdock Group Tour we booked for a Royal Caribbean Cruise traveling from Rome through the Eastern Mediterranean. The highlight of the trip was to be a visit to Israel. There were two groups sponsored by Murdock Travel on this cruise: 1) Our group, which was hosted by BYU professor Anthony Sweat, and which consisted of approximately 80 people, and 2) a "Gentri" group, which featured the singing group Gentri, and consisted of approximately 400 people. The GOOD: My sincere compliments to Dani Edmunds (Murdoch's Tour Director for our group) and Anthony Sweat, who both went above and beyond to make the trip enjoyable and educational. Our trip was to include a 3 day / 2 night land excursion in Israel, with hotel stays in both Jerusalem and Galilee, and which was, quite obviously, the reason that we all had booked this Murdock Tour. The price for this Israel portion of the tour was $599 per person. The BAD: As we were approaching Israel's port of Ashdod, the ship's captain announced that, as a result of the developing Israel/Palestinian hostilities, the ship would divert to the port of Haifa instead. All tours of Israel were to commence from there. We did land at Haifa and each passenger cleared Israeli immigrations in anticipation of an early start of all shore excursions the next day. During this process, the captain made an additional announcement that it had been decided by RCL that the ship should leave Israel and all Israel land excursions were therefore cancelled. To RCL's credit, in the same announcement it was clearly stated that all charges for those who had had booked the ship's excursions for Israel would be immediately refunded. In addition, without being asked, RCL credited $250 per cabin as partial compensation for the inconvenience and disappointment for this unanticipated change in their schedule, which was certainly no fault of RCL's. The UGLY: What was to happen to the $599 per person that we paid directly to Murdock for our Israel Tour? Had we booked something similar through RCL, it would have been immediately refunded. I asked that question of our tour Director, as I'm sure others did, and was told that Murdock management was looking into it. (Note: some of Murdock's management, including Larry Gelwix -- founder of Columbus Travel -- which merged with Murdock -- and host of his long-running "Getaway Guru" radio show -- were actually on this cruise.) To my knowledge, no general announcement was made to either of Murdock's groups that any refund was under consideration. It's almost like they are hoping the question will go away. Given the multitudes of hotel rooms not occupied, of meals not served, of busses not needed, of local tour guides not used, etc., etc., certainly Murdock's unrecoverable costs for the planned Israel Tours is minimal. Naturally my question (and that of many others) is what happened to our money? To-date, a week after the cruise has ended, we have heard nothing, not even a whisper. Poorly done, Murdock. You are better than that, and your customers deserve better than that. We're still waiting...
