This event has been running for 25 years now, and is typically held at the end of May. If you're not ready to run a half marathon (like myself) then they also offer a 5K and 10K course. Cost is between $54 to $135, depending on when you register. Packet Pick-up: ~ At the Portland Running Company in Beaverton. Race Day: ~ 8am Start ~ On Century Blvd just outside of the stadium. I only ran the 10K and only saw data centers and farmland lol. But my friend that ran the half said that it became a bit hilly after the 10K mark. Finishline: ~ It ends back onto the playing field of the stadium, and along the outfield. A medal awarded at the end. Food/Beer/Live Music: ~ Burgers were provided by Helvetia Tavern and three types of beers from Rogue Brewery. Live music provided by Party of 4! Those guys were awesome! Overall, it was a good run in my opinion. Not overkill with hills but also not as scenic as I thought. Would I run it again? Yeah why not!

When the water is high in May and June is the best time to see the swiftlets gliding around the water as the fly towards the nests they have built on a nearby abandoned floating shed.. If you are new to kayaking this would be the place to start you have lots of local long-timers who have become experts willing to pass on their knowledge and the staff is friendly and helpful also. They have a small picnic area and a hiking trail (that was mostly submerged in the Columbia) and a small swimming area. 10/10 would recommend:)

Other than a more crowded location on the weekends, I have no no negative things to say about this awesome place There is a daily fee to park in their parking lot, but it's minimal for an all day pass ($3). You can also rent kayaks/SUPs from the Next Adventure location located at Scappoose Bay. There is also a place to load/unload and dock boats on a more long-term basis as well. The views of Mount Saint Helen's are great and you can see so much wildlife when kayaking around through the inlets. I've seen bald eagles, great blue herons, ospreys, deer, turtles and even a cow once! on my last visit, there was an abandoned ship in an inlet to investigate as well. You can spend time exploring the different in loads or the former appears on the banks or you can paddle straight to the Columbia for a more "action" on the water. If you kayak, this is a must-visit place in the Portland area!

And even though I was farther along in my knowledge then when I signed up in 2019, I still learned a ton. Alexis was our guide and she was always ready, willing and able to answer any questions we had. And we had a lot of questions. Alexis knew what she was doing and gave her knowledge freely. The views were spectacular. The campsites both nights were right on a lake. The hike was hard but doable for this 65yr old. Highly recommond.

I recently had Independent Marine Propeller change the pitch and service my propeller. I had…read morealways felt that I was slightly under pitched and there were vibrations that could not be attributed to the shaft or engine alignment. I consulted with another shop and they felt the pitch was correct and just needed to be serviced and balanced. I told them to note the overall condition of the prop for my own records. When I picked it up their comment was "its all OK now" no further information. The prop was better and I continued to use it for another 50 hrs keeping close track of performance. I still felt under pitched and the vibrations were reduced but still evident. Independent was recommended to me by a friend. I visited them and they were genuinely interested in helping me get what I wanted. I eventually took my prop to them and after a good amount of discussion we decided that changing the pitch by 1.5" would be best. My first impression when I picked it up was that it looked like a little Jewell. The quality of the finish work was of the highest quality. I put it back on the boat and took it out for testing. My immediate impression was how silky smooth it was. It also performed perfectly. I was able to achieve the desired speed at a lower RPM yet still able to just reach red line. I just returned from cruising the San Juans with varied sea state conditions including 40kt winds with 4' seas. I could not be more satisfied with their work. I can happily endorse and recommend Independent Marine Propeller for all your propulsion needs.

Plus we are baby boaters and have bumpers down both sides of the boat so we don't hit stuff. These guys tried 3 times and it's now we have a Beautiful, easy to get on/off cover. And it's not their fault, like I said, the bumpers are a pain to get canvas around, and there's a weird slope to the boat. They engineered a wonderful cover. I really appreciate ALL the time and energy the crew took, even to picking up the boat and taking it to their shop! They were not going to let this one get the best of them!
