Friday, October 19…read more I decided to take my toddler to the biggest bounce house in America -which is located directly next door to the raceway -boy oh boy was it super fun for a toddler in admission adult admission together it was $26 to enter the toddler session bounce house - The bounce session lasted for an hour with other toddlers with the same age range- after bouncing I purchased a T-shirt from my toddler the T-shirt was $10 -I also purchased a bounce house big America bounce house ball for my toddler which was four dollars - My little guy had an amazing time and I was happy because he was happy the big house the big bounce house America travels -they set up at different locations and they just happen to choose the Millington nearby the raceway- oh by the way, they will be in town for three days so 19th October 20 and October 21 - oh yeah you do a put on a wristband when you pay so that way you can utilize the bounce house for the rest of the time after your session ends

I checked their website which was current and informative, and learned we could attend an early morning church service trackside. Curiosity often gets the better of me, so for Father's Day, we all went to 8:30 church service by the ministers from God Speed, who are also drag racers! It was a service rooted in love and friendship- very "love thy neighbor", which was a pleasant surprise. We enjoyed the drag racing and time trials of the fast cars, too. My six year old son was blown away by the speeds reached on the quarter mile- upwards of 210 miles per hour! Parking was free here, and concessions only included one "grandma's greasy spoon" kind of trailer, but bottled water and breakfast biscuits satisfied our family. This whole place has a gritty but friendly vibe- I recommend going to a race here if you haven't yet.

The fire department has an old aircraft they practice rescues with but otherwise this airport was a ghost town. Stopped in here for a few days on a cross country heading back to Colorado. After flying from Monroe, Louisiana direct it was nice to sit and plan our next leg. Unfortunately weather moved in and we were stuck here for several days before we could continue west so Springfield, Missouri. With the holiday weekend we parked ourselves on the ramp and had to wait until anyone showed up to fuel and leave. Unfortunate but the tower was open etc. Just no ramp services from any FBOs to help. Even the adjacent flight school wasn't able to fuel us. Odd. Quiet ramp so as long as it's a non-movement area feel free to park basically. We found a pile of chocks for the aircraft to make it secure. Didn't see any anchored ramp tie-downs either. A common trend on this lengthy US cross country. FBO had parking directly behind but no crew car available. Uber and Lyft don't exist and most taxi services wouldn't pick us up because we were "so far out of town." Eventually we hailed a police officer and they took us to the nearby Hampton Inn for the night. Seating inside but not a ton. Water. Coffee. We ended up ordering Domino's one day before flying out and they'll deliver to the field. Plenty of spots to charge an electronic EFB or other electronic devices. Clean bathrooms and steady WiFi. They even have seating outside the FBO for watching aircraft on the ramp. If you have to divert this is a solid option. Not a king in the ground though so be sure to pack for a lengthy stay.
