They have trampolines, floor mats, a vault, bars, balance beams and everyone's favorite - a foam pit with a trapeze to swing into it.

My child was so discouraged she no longer wants to go. Maybe another class would be a better fit, but I think the overall atmosphere is not a good fit for us. We're looking to have fun while learning new skills, and it seems that others have Olympic ambitions and the serious attitude that comes with it. Perhaps this place is focused on their star programs and not everyday children who want to have fun while learning the basics.

There's a real sense of people pulling for each other and looking out for one another. Also, we keep the mats very clean.

With the help of his coach, Julia Mills, he has broken out of his shell and is now comfortable fencing on his own at various tournaments. The coaches here are always willing to take time out of their lessons to give direct guidance to the students. There are numerous events that are sponsored here and the main weapons are Epee, Foil, Saber, Hema, and even light saber battles. This is a great group of people running this organization and they are super helpful with deciding what weapon and path you should be taking. Your primary weapon choice is made after your first couple of lessons trying out various weapons. I highly recommend this fencing club!

I have to admit, when I saw a groupon for "Lightsaber Fencing", I wasn't sure what to expect, but I…read morethought it would be interesting. Turns out I was right! Royal Arts hosts several forms of bladed combat instruction - including Olympic fencing (one of the owners is a former Olympic coach!), saber, epee, heavier historical weapon combat, and now, yes, Lightsabers! No, we haven't cut our limbs off. The students train with weighted PVC weapons, and safety equipment is provided, including gloves, chest protectors, and fencing hoods. So far we've gotten a great deal of group instruction on stances, grips, and movement, with personal attention from the instructor or his assistants when needed. Oh, and students also get a certain amount of sparring time - that means getting to hit each other. :) (Making "Swoosh" noises is optional, but recommended!) In addition to classes, Royal Arts also features open gym time and 1 on 1 instruction sessions. Just call ahead to see what is available!
