Every time I come here it's a disaster. The last time I came in they locked the door early before closing time. Today there is one person working the window when there's a line of people waiting. The workers don't care and ignore the customers. I had a passport appointment and the woman at the window is doing every job. No assistance to help with the line from the back. One separate worker took two men's questions and then said to the rest of us that she's "not working the front". We are supposed to arrive 10 minutes before our appointment and end up waiting 30 just to find out "their camera is down". That's so frustrating since folks took the time off work to come complete these tasks. Find a different location for your mail needs. This location is understaffed and unbothered. read more

I only go here when I am chauffeuring a non-driving friend around town. He likes this USPS to get his monthly Money Orders. When I go inside with him, I grab a sheet or two of those expensive Forever stamps. Our recent visit, my fried experienced some drama getting his money order. He told the clerk his amount needed and she repeated it to him. However, after she swiped his debt card she realized she accidentally did it for $52 more. She quickly apologized and got her supervisor to assist her in correcting the problem. It took a variety of steps, but they got it corrected. He got his money order for the correct amount and they gave him cash back for the over-charge. Good customer service. After they got my friend taken care of, it was my turn to buy my Forever Stamps. I am one of the last people who still sends greeting cards and I do my best to match the stamp to the occasion. My friends always comment on how my stamps coordinate with the card. read more

This is going to sound crazy, but I LOVE this post office. I don't understand those who say that parking here is hard. There are a ton of meters and they are rarely taken. I always manage to go during the day vs. before or after work, so I'm sure that helps as well. The employees at the UCity Post Office are so nice and have gone the extra mile for me many times... once when I needed some customized stamps for wedding invitations, and another when I had a lost package. The woman I was working with looked for it for almost 20 minutes and was able to hand it over with a smile on her face. I have had nothing but friendly, joyful encounters with everyone here. Never thought I'd be happy to go to a Post Office since they're always such a dread. So glad we have this gem in UCity! read more

this is a disaster that keeps getting worse. Inthe last 2 months I have not received: my validated property tax receipt, my validated personal property tax receipt and my December gas bill. My January gas bill arrived on the day it was due. and this is all I know of for sure. What can be done? I live in University City near St Louis. I know. Five stars for a post office seems kinda crazy, but I swear, I was delighted by my visit to the U. City post office (which sounds incredibly lame, but it's true). I can easily walk to this post office from home and it's in the U. City Loop. Stars for convenience. They have a lovely variety of stamps (unlike Kirkwood's "would you like flags or bells?" selection). Stars for decent merchandise. The fella working the counter was really pleasant and wished me a great evening, even though it was only 9am... but hey, he smiled and acknowledged that I exist, so stars for that! Short lines. I live in U City and generally I am a big U City booster, but this post office is the worst. I have been told it's a training center, but Sweet Jesus, I hope not. Ever seen the movie Brazil? It's just like that, every comic parody of the unhappy post office employee can be found here at the front desk along with long lines and busted machines that never seem to work. To make matters worse, the line in front of you often can be filled with WU foreign student mailing home stuff and requiring a dizzy list of paperwork, that often is not in order. My advice, either use the Richmond Heights office or the Clayton office. read more

The people here are (generally) nice, although they all seems really unhappy with their jobs. The service is slow, slow, slow. In general, it's understaffed and the people are lazy because they hate their jobs. There will oftentimes be a line of twenty people long needing to ship something and one-two people on deck with a third person standing there refusing to take anyone unless they are picking up/want stamps. Pro-tip: WUSTL's post office is a few blocks up the road. Go south up on Big Bend, take a left into Snow Drive, the building is in a building to the left of where you enter. Park furtively in the parking garage, they won't catch you in ten minutes. There's hardly ever a line and the people there love their jobs. read more

I'm so glad this is the post office that's closest to my home now! I love it! The people are super friendly, the on street metered parking isn't that bad, and I almost never have to wait for long! I also love how many stamps they carry. I recently got the harry potter stamps! HARRY POTTER STAMPS = FANTASTIC! I write a lot of letters to my friends so it's nice having stamps around. I also don't like the boring forever stamps (bells, flags etc) so having a place that sells me harry potter or pixar stamps is really awesome. I needed to mail a letter to china (one of my college friends is living there) and I didn't know what sort of stamp to get. The person behind the desk was really nice and told me I needed to write the address in english (even if it was already in chinese) and that they sold international one-rate stamps. I bought some and they're ROUND, like the earth. I know, I'm way too excited about stamps, but it is what it is! read more

I've had two experiences with this post office. Neither good. First: I mailed a huge package from California to St.Louis. After two months or so I still hadn't received anything. I called the office multiple times looking for my package, no one knew anything. Then a few weeks later I get a sticky note on my apartment building saying the package will be shipped back to the sender in a few days. Keep in mind, I had not received ANY SORT of delivery or attempt-of-delivery notification before this. Second: I was expecting a package on a Saturday, that I NEEDED to get on that saturday, but the sender messed up the delivery address. So I really just needed them to hold the package for me so I could come pick it up, because obviously it wasn't getting where it was supposed to go. I got told multiple times there was nothing they could do, there was nothing I could do, there was nothing the sender could do, there was no amount of money I could pay to change anything, the package was just gonna get delivered to the wrong place on Saturday. No suggestions. No help. I literally got hung up on. Seriously? I'm pretty sure it saves them money to not ship that package the rest of the way. Then I called the smaller post office that University City was going to deliver my package to, that was going to finally deliver the package to the wrong address. I got told "sure, no problem, we'll hold it for you." The whole conversation took 3 seconds. Not sure what kind of business they're trying to run where their customers have absolutely no control over their mail, but they won't be getting any sort of business out of me if I can help it. If most of their offices are like this one, no wonder the USPS is having issues. read more

I finally resolved, today, to stop returning to this post office. The staff I have encountered range from impersonal to rude -- when they ask you (verbally) if your package contains any liquids, perishables, fragile items, etc., and you say "no", you should not have to endure being *barked* at to "answer the question on the screen, not to me". They also sell really poor quality (and overpriced) mailing tape, which they now force you to buy if the package you are trying to mail has even the smallest amount of duct tape (they said they wouldn't mail my package otherwise). This is *not* an *official* policy that I can find on the usps website (although it is listed in the holiday mailing tips). I understand that it's not ideal from their perspective, but it was an emergency and I ran of mailing tape. I have previously mailed packages with duct tape at this post office and others without issue, so it seems to me that this "policy" of theirs is more of an excuse to sell their terrible quality mailing tape. As if that weren't enough, when I asked to mail my re-taped package in "the cheapest way possible", they tried to mail it express instead of priority. Ridiculous. If you can, go anywhere else. read more

I have been going to this Post Office for the past three years because it is the closest location to my apartment, and every time I go there, I swear to myself that I will never go back. But for the convenience, I would not. There is only one time when someone hasn't been either affirmatively rude to me, or misinformed me regarding postage. I have lived in three other cities in the US, all over--the midwest, the south, and the east coast. Never before, and nowhere else (including elsewhere in St. Louis) have I experienced such poor customer service at a US Post Office. The last time I was here, I came in on a Saturday morning, believing that the office opened at 8:30 AM. I did not see hours posted anywhere, and it was 9:45 AM. The door to the post office was open. I entered. The teller windows were all ajar, though not fully opened, and a woman was behind the counter. I said, "Excuse me?" politely, at least ten times. I informed her that I just wanted to know what time the post office opened. I received no response. The woman literally pretended she could not see or hear me. Horrible. read more

Hello I stay in the neighborhood and everytime I go to this post office I receive aweful customer service. I had a encounter the other day where the person working the front desk was searching for a package of mine, and inorder to find it she needed my address. I just moved into the area needed a moment to think of it. She commented by saying wow you can't remember your address? Very unprofessional and when I talked to her supervisor, he told me he was going to check in the back for my package and call me. The employees at the post office are rude. Not just a little rude, but even worse than airport employees. No joke. I saw one employee get really snippy with a poor guy who was standing there with a big stack of packages. There was a nice lady once, but that was a few years ago. Also super slow people who drag their feet. Mail is often late or not delivered. Mail has been skipped on a Saturday, then delivered in a Sunday. I often get the wrong mail, so I wonder how many pieces of my mail are going to other houses. I don't expect perfection, but this is terrible. read more

I've lived all over the country, in cities and rural places, and let me just repeat this: this is the worst post office in America. The employees are rude--if you died in front of them, they would be unfazed, and then just annoyed. EVERY TIME we hold mail at this post office it gets messed up. They either don't hold the mail or we just don't get our mailed delivered for days (a week in one case) after the hold has expired. Everybody acts as you owe them $100 bucks (except one big lady)! The lines are always long and they don't even care about that. Even there're 10+ people inside, only one window is operating! It is difficult to have mail forwarded correctly. This post office does not ensure the carriers do their job, and carriers often seems to be substitutes. Mail does not get forwarded as requested and is periodically delivered when it is to be forwarded. In 2016 I called the post office 3 times during the "forwarding" period and finally made a personal visit to the postmaster but it did no good. This year it is starting out the same way - mail not being forwarded as requested. Last year the excuse was always "the substitute didn't know". My opinion is that they are inefficient and just do not care whether the service is good or not. After all, they are government employees and I guess they can't be fired. If this were a private business they would go bankrupt. read more

They speak with you as if they aren't even at work as if you have the nerve to actually be visiting this location to get mail delivered or to purchase stamps. The nerve of us all!!! LOL!!! I have some mixed reviews of this post office and the overall service. What happens routinely is that the mail gets delivered to the wrong address and neighbors run around delivering the mail to neighbors. I have done it many times, and it's not just next door --sometimes it is the right number, but wrong street. They did misplace a registered piece of international mail, for which they left a sticky noted on my door, and blamed on the country of origin (since the mail obviously arrived to create a sticky delivery note this logic didn't quite work). A few weeks ago I got an email confirmation that a priority mail package was delivered (with a nice touch of being so precise as to state: left at the doorstep!) while the package was nowhere to be seen. However, when I called the post office, a very nice woman, I believe a supervisor, told me that the carrier could not complete her delivery that evening because of an encounter with an unfriendly dog... We had a nice chat, were both happy the carrier emerged unscathed from the encounter with the dog, and my package (fortunately, nothing urgent), was delivered (indeed to my doorstep) the next day. OK, so they are working with a reduced staff, but that doesn't explain the TERRIBLE service, not at the PO itself (those ladies are usually pleasant enough for govt workers) but by the carriers. Today, once again, a package (actually two packages) that we knew should have been delivered today (Amazon Prime two day guarantee, sent UPS, transferred to the local USPS yesterday ... thank goodness for online tracking!) were not delivered with our regular mail. Had to call the PO, wait on hold until they called the mail carrier, and then he has to drive back and deliver what he should have delivered the first time around. This is a regular problem on our route. Mail undelivered, wrong mail delivered here, carrier walking across our lawn and through our gardens to cut a few steps off his walk to the neighbor, etc., etc. It will never get any better but someone should be made aware so I will continue to complain. read more

I have lived all over the US and had postal workers that I have loved. This post office is really bad. The workers are INCREDIBLY rude - I have brought in letters to the folks who are sitting doing nothing at the counter (honest - they were chatting it up and doing nothing) and I was rudely told to "put your letter in the box, I ain't gonna touch it - its got a stamp on it". One day I brought a package in with a prepaid label on it. The worker refused to scan it (again they were just sitting there chatting about their weekend plans). Apparently the package did get on its way, but no scan was made of it until it reached the destination. It was a business package, sent priority mail, and it was very troublesome that I wasn't able to assure my customer that the package was on the way. The workers do their utmost to try and irritate customers, display a real apathy for "quality work" and work against the customer, whenever possible. Don't even bother coming in here - take your packages to Washington University or to the mail office at the Drugstore near the corner of Big Bend and Forest Park Parkway. That's what I will do from this point on. read more
