Terry was actually the first local here that made me feel welcome and greeted me with a smile. She's the best. The mail service in general can be a pain, but Terry tries her best, and the other lady with blondish brown hair. I don't know her name. They aren't the ones who decided not to have mail delivered to our residences, so everyone needs to just take it a little easy on them when it comes to that. Just get a P.O. Box like the rest of us.

If it is UPS or FedEx, I have it sent to my street address, if USPS, I have it sent to my PO Box in EH. I had a recent order from a vendor that they stated would be sent UPS, but they ended up sending it USPS. Upon receiving a tracking text message from USPS that my package had been received by the post office and was "out for delivery", I went to the post office because I understand the no street delivery policy, hoping to just retrieve the package while it was still on site and before it was returned. I received the text message at 9:23 and was at the post office within 10 mins of receipt of the text. When I arrived, I could see one postal worker scanning the packages received by them for today's delivery. I explained to the woman who came to the window what had happened with the shipper and asked if she could help me out and retrieve my package from the pile that was literally within 15 ft of where we were talking. She rather rudely explained that they have a "no street delivery" policy and that even though I was standing in the lobby, with a valid tracking number and within eyesight of my package, that she would be unable to give it to me. I understand the delivery policy. I always confirm with the shipper how they are sending my packages to comply with the delivery policy. What I don't understand is the level of absolutely atrocious customer service, or the shear level of what amounts to just plain laziness displayed by the workers in this post office. Sadly, it seems to be the MO for nearly all postal workers. Miserable government employees who act like sheep and are incapable of individual thought. But, I guess that explains why the USPS is essentially a failing business. I gave a 1 star review because the system would not allow me to give 0 stars.

Shockingly rude "service" on Saturday, May 30, 2020 at around 11 am by an individual named…read more"Crystal" (no last name provided because "I don't have to"). I was dropping off two large, very heavy postage pre-paid packages. I asked the gentlemen behind the counter if I could leave the package without having to wait on line (absolutely no social distancing was being observed). He said yes and told me where to move the packages. I then asked for a receipt when "Crystal" intervened, rudely, demanding that I wait on line. She then further demanded that I move the packages to a different location. I mentioned I was told to put them there and that they were heavy. She responded "well, you brought them in, and you're going to put them on the scale." I objected to being told to move the packages twice and then was told by "Crystal" that "I am in charge and you will not be served in my post office." Though I had done nothing wrong I offered an apology just to get the packages in the mail. To no avail; I was told to leave the post office. I nevertheless waited on line, thinking, mistakenly, that this would blow over. When my turn came up, "Crystal" instructed the employee at the counter not to serve me. I was forced to go the East Hampton post office, lugging the packages again, in mask and gloves. When I mentioned what had happened, the employees in the EH post office were shocked. I hope the postmaster of the Wainscott post office reads this. He should know how the staff that is in charge of the post office treat the public.
