I identified myself by my citizenship name when I spoke to a very cool and interesting border patrol agent called Michael last week, just in case he sees this and gets confused. Michael helped me find out which mile marker is at the checkpoint, heading out of Nogales towards Tucson on I-19, after an absent minded driver rear ended my car, while I was at the Border Patrol Checkpoint station. I had to file an accident report and Michael helped me. He was extremely kind and helpful and found the information for me. I thought it would be nice if his boss reads this, because he is the kind of border agent who gives agents a very good name. There are some surly people out there ... not very many and I know these people have their patience tested incessantly - I could never do that job myself and I am always glad we have tough guys and tough women who are willing to cope with what it means coping with - but it's always good to speak to the ones who are lovely people who simply know how to be friendly and human. Michael came from Las Vegas for the job - I don't know how to identify him other than saying that - so if anyone knows which Michael it was, please tell his boss I wrote this review or show it to his boss because Michael has a lovely attitude and a very nice manner and deserves his boss to know he does a great job of helping people. read more

Regardless of your political affiliations and whether or not you believe that these interior checkpoints actually help stop drug trafficking or human smuggling, I think we can all agree it is a huge inconvenience to have to stop in the middle of your trip on an interstate highway. Especially during holiday weekends with heavy traffic. However, I've never experienced any rude or unprofessional officers at this particular checkpoint. They usually seem to keep things running pretty smooth and efficiently. I've never been searched, though, so in truth my interaction with them has been pretty limited. read more

I pass through the I-19 checkpoint daily. The agents there do a fantastic job at keeping it moving fast and doing their jobs interdicting drugs and illegal aliens. a very minor inconvenience that frankly... only selfish idiots would object to. If the checkpoint wasn't there, we would most likely revert backwards to the days of overloaded vans of drugs and aliens driving all over the road and causing accidents when pursued or a tire breaks. A necessary part of living on a border. read more
