There's even a FOLSOM RODEO where I can watch kids ride precocious sheep: "MUTTON WRANGLING!" THE SETUP I value my local friends who show me all the neat markets and antique faires that highlight some of my favorite shopping past times. FOOD HOT SPOTS! But anything pertaining to FOOD has my primary attention! * From Pizza, to Chocolate to Ice Cream shops, if you tastes run along the sweet and quick & easy, you'll find your "poison" along Historic Sutter Street; * But if you're looking for classy Steak Houses or awesome Seafood Restaurants, same place - it's here! * Of specific interest to me is Hop Sing Palace also on Historic Sutter Street: it is my all time favorite Chinese Restaurant in the entire Sacramento Valley! PRODUCE I've learned to go to the Farmer's Market in the Historic Sutter District (at the foot of Historic Sutter Street), and here you can find just about anything! Early in the Spring you're basic fruits and veggies. Later in the Fall, more seasonal faire. My buddy, Master Yelper Eric S., even showed me where to pick out the pumpkins! THE LOWDOWN So much to write about, but suffice it to say that Folsom is a growing community with a lot of stuff for you! It's always helpful

This practice is also a violation of the Uniform Commercial Code of the United State of America because you are making landlords pay for a service they are not using. SMUD which provides electricity and P, G & E which provides gas also bill tenants directly without getting landlords involved. She also thinks it alright for the Folsom police to not site my former tenants for doing $10,000 worth of damage to my property letting dog hair destroy my air conditioner and the other tenant turning off the outside water killing the entire yard and two large trees. Her response "Well you should not have rented to dog owners." Hello, 60% of tenants now have pets so 60% of my market is eliminated by not renting to people with pets. Moreover, people without pets are strongly recruited by landlords and they end up renting brand new houses which my two rental properties are not. She also expressed no concern for the fact the City of Folsom did thousands of dollars worth of damage to the cooper pipes in one of my rental properties because the city added a chemical to the water that destroyed cooper pipes. Her total insensitivity to small, elderly, retired landlords is just appalling.

But I really wanted to see Folsom and while on the way to Folsom Lake State Recreation Area with friends, we noticed a sign for the Folsom Prison Museum. Naturally, curiosity won out and we took a much desired detour. Despite having checked online and learning the museum is closed for the foreseeable future (likely budget related), we still decided to drive onto the prison campus anyway to at least see the outside. Mission accomplished! Not only did we find the museum and snap a bunch of fun photos but we also ended up meeting two of the friendliest prison guards imaginable (please note: they're also the only prison guards I've ever met, but still!). They generously took the time to share stories about the prison's history, current conditions, and even fun trivia like the fact that all California license plates are made here at Folsom. Incredible! Oh! I also got a Junior Correctional Officer sticker, how fun!!! Their kindness and willingness to chat really made the stop worthwhile, even without stepping inside the museum. Which, by the way, the museum is the old warden's residence! While I'd love to return if the museum ever reopens, I'll definitely pass on the chance to spend a night here as an official guest. Still, for a quick, quirky, and historic stop, Folsom Prison delivered.

Officers are pulling over certain individuals for window tint violations while clearly ignoring many others who appear to have far darker tint--some looking like 5% or 3%--and are allowed to continue driving without being stopped. If window tint enforcement is going to be taken seriously, then it must be applied equally and fairly to everyone, not selectively based on who officers decide to target. I have personally witnessed officers pass by numerous vehicles with extremely dark tint and make no attempt to stop them, while other drivers are pulled over for the same alleged violation. This creates a clear appearance of bias and discriminatory enforcement. Under California Vehicle Code §26708, window tint laws apply to all drivers equally. Selectively enforcing this law against certain people while ignoring others undermines public trust and raises serious civil rights concerns. Racial profiling--whether explicit or implicit--is unacceptable. California law recognizes this as a serious issue: California Penal Code §13519.4 requires law enforcement agencies to prevent and address racial profiling through proper training and accountability. Government Code §11135 prohibits discrimination by any state-funded agency, including law enforcement, based on race, color, or national origin. When officers "pick and choose" who to stop, it sends the message that enforcement is not about safety or compliance, but about subjective judgment and bias. That is unfair, unprofessional, and damaging to the community's trust in law enforcement. If Folsom Police Department intends to enforce window tint laws, then every driver should be held to the same standard, not just certain individuals. Anything less is unequal treatment and contributes to the very concerns about racial profiling that California law is meant to prevent. The community deserves transparency, accountability, and fair policing--not selective enforcement. Until these issues are addressed seriously, it is hard to have confidence that traffic stops are being conducted lawfully and without bias.
