Most teachers are inconsiderate and unsympathetic and egotistical. Bullying is rampant. It's incredibly cliquey with any non-white non-straight non-athletic and unconventionally attractive girls being excluded. Teachers turn a blind eye to bullying. Tuition goes up every year with several other expenses, like over 200$ for a retreat where students are fed chicken nuggets. No heat yet detentions are given to girls wearing pants or sweaters to be warmer. Stealing is rampant. School lunches are over priced. Some students show up drunk or high and teachers do nothing. Ursuline has been a transformative experience for our family. Both our daughters attended Ursuline, one graduated, the other is a junior. Our older daughter flourished there, found a love of science that she is pursuing as a pre-med major. She earned nearly $600,000 total in academic scholarships that she allowed her to afford to go to a prestigious university that we otherwise could never have sent her to. It has given both of our girls an outstanding education, provided them with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in college and beyond. They offer appropriately challenging coursework, and provide an appropriate amount of homework, skipping the all-too-common busy work for home that most schools give. The modular schedule gives girls the chance to learn to manage their free time and get the bulk of their homework done before leaving school. This reduces stress for both the girls and for the entire family. Our daughters learned how to go beyond news headlines, and even the body of news articles to find primary source documents to either verify, refute or contextualize a story, essential for becoming well-informed citizens. I find our family dinner conversations fascinating, and despite 10 years of university training, I learn so much from our daughters. Ursuline nurtures girls to become their best selves, academically, spiritually, morally, and emotionally. The school culture is collaborative, rather than competitive, encouraging all girls to be their best selves. Through their scripture and other religion classes, they've studied the Bible deeply, and learned about Christianity and Catholic teaching, so that they might truly be disciples of Jesus, in word AND deed. My daughters are two of the nicest, kindest people I've ever met, and I believe Ursuline played a big part. This can be seen in how Ursuline girls conduct themselves at sporting events with tremendous school spirit, dignity and grace, and the gracious way they treat girls from other schools, showing good sportsmanship. Parents will also appreciate the strong community atmosphere that brings parents together. I have really enjoyed getting to know other dads through their Dad's Club of the Ursuline Parent Association. I cannot recommend Ursuline highly enough. It is one of the best college prep programs in the state. I have to agree with some of the other reviewers. Bullying is tolerated and it is a very cliquey environment. I know a few of my friends who are also not happy here. It is not a supportive environment and nothing like what you see on the tour. I was so excited to come to this school but really regret my decision. I also recently spoke to an Ursuline grad who is in her 20s who said her Ursuline experience was truly awful and had a negative impact on her throughout college. read more

I would not recommend this school. This year, the school is led by co-principals after an abrupt departure from the principal in the summer. The co-principals do not offer the support or leadership the school needs to move forward. The Dean of Students is not respected by students. Our daughter is very unhappy here. There is also no sense of differentiation between the middle school and high school. If your daughter wants a true middle school experience Ursuline is not for her. The middle school girls are exposed to too much from the older girls. During Open Houses Ursuline girls are impressive but when I look at my daughter's social media accounts I'm shocked by what Ursuline girls post. I graduated from Ursuline a little over a decade ago, and while I can't shed light on the current student experience, I doubt that it has changed drastically since I was there. Ursuline was a wonderful experience. The academic rigor kept me challenged and prepared me well for a competitive college. It was also an incredibly emotionally supportive place and a second home to me while my mother struggled with cancer. read more

As an almost alum of UA, I would like to firmly say to all parents thinking about sending their daughter to this school to PLEASE RECONSIDER! While Ursuline has a strong academic curriculum, it severely lacks a proper educational environment. The extreme stress placed on students by the faculty is vastly detrimental to the mental well-being of adolescents. The counseling office focuses solely on the college process while completely neglecting the mental and emotional health of the student body. Many current students have confided in me, as their senior, about the horrifying lack of sleep they suffer, the emotional anguish they experience trying to achieve perfect grades, and the physical illnesses they suffer from overworking themselves due to the high expectations of their teachers. An example would be when my friend was asked to move a major surgery by her chemistry teacher so she would not miss class. Surely, while no school is perfect, there must be a better way to give a young woman an education without leaving her mentally and emotionally scarred during her adolescent years. In closing, please DO NOT send your daughter to this school- you will be doing her a great favor. read more
