I've temped, worked at a teaching university, worked for a prosthodontist who lectured and held training courses for dentists from around the world. I'm still assisting and could get free or discounted work, but I choose to see Dr. Yokoyama. He was spoken highly of by dentists and I never heard anything bad about him in the dental community. I have referred many people to him. A former dental coworker and my boyfriend also go to him. The exam and cleaning yesterday were actually cheaper than they would've been at the corporate office I work for, and they still offer travel supplies if you like (some offices discontinued that). A dentist I had worked for had offered to do crowns to fill some spaces between some of my upper front teeth, but I wanted to be more conservative. Dr. Yokoyama did beautiful fillings on those teeth instead. My boyfriend had a tooth perforated during a root canal by a local (retired) dentist years ago, so the results of that were needing to have the tooth extracted and replaced with a dental implant and crown. An oral surgeon did the surgeries, and Dr. Yokoyama placed an implant crown that is cosmetically and functionally great. The front desk has always been responsive and accommodating to us. They get pretty busy (like all offices now), but even so, they are calm, professional, and friendly.

The quality of the cleaning was the best I've ever had, and they took the time to really understand my dental history and explain how to maintain strong dental health and an overall healthier lifestyle. Within my first year on the island, I cycled through too many dentist offices trying to find the right fit. Once I found this one, I knew I'd finally landed in the right place. Now my entire family comes here, and we all feel like we're on an optimal path with our oral health. Great value, exceptional care, and truly the best team on the island. Thank you!

This visit was misleading and damaging due to poor communication…read more My husband and I expected to receive exams and cleanings at the same appointment, we took time off work and drove an hour and a half to do so. Once we arrived, we were told that cleanings must be scheduled for a separate visit, which was not communicated in advance. I called to confirm beforehand that the office was contracted with Guardian and was told they successfully submitted claims with Guardian before. We paid upfront as required, but later learned submitting claims is not the same as being contracted. Our insurance reimbursement will be about 13% of what we paid, leaving us with hundreds of dollars out of pocket for a visit that normally costs us under $20. An incredibly uncomfortable position to be in when we were expecting close to a full reimbursement. While the doctor seemed competent and the staff was kind, the lack of transparency and communication means we will not be returning or recommending this office.

I had crown prep work done at a different local office that went terribly. I was flying out for a wedding 2 days after my front tooth temp crown fell of for the second time in as many days (and it never looked all that good to begin with). I was in pain and feeling real gross looking. I called Dr. Walker's office from a friend's recommendation, and was worked in for a late same day consult. Dr. Walker not only consulted with me, but he reshaped, polished, and permanently cemented my temporary crown (knowing how much extra work that would be later). I felt kind of silly being so vain, but he made me feel like it was just as important to him. The staff stayed late to make sure this was done with plenty of time for my trip. It looked AMAZING. Even people who I told couldn't believe it was a temporary crown. Other awesome things about this office: -Dr. Walker is SO good at numbing. I'm terrified of needles, especially in the dental realm, and it doesn't hurt at all when he does it. -Janet at the front desk is an angel. She always finds a way to work around my awful schedule and remembers details about things we talked about at the last visit. They have me as a patient for life. If you're tired to the big, crappy revolving door dentists on island, check this place out. You will NOT regret it.
