    I have been a patient at this dental office since they opened. It's so sad to see the guest service…read moreget so poor. I have had services at community centers that have more customer service then This place here. Let's be completely honest, this place doesn't accept any Medicaid, they have a location in Texas and pretty much operates as a training school for dental professionals. No disrespect to the amazing community centers but it's not like they struggling to get insurance to pay them....Yet the level of service is so poor. Let's start with the old Japanese lady at the front desk. She is so rude to everyone. I'm sitting here and she is going on and on with elderly woman who cracked her tooth, basically clowning her about not being financially prepared for her crown that cost over $1200 Mind you I have had a crown myself and thishas been the worst experience with one that can't seem to hold up its end of the deal Maile is the best manager and does an incredible job but who wants to contact a manager for every problem that they have. Like I said the customer service staff is so rude. When you call this place you get an out of country phone line that is so sweet but your concerns will never be addressed because they say they scheduling and send messages over that just never get executed. The people at the front talk crap and tell me you should ask for us directly. But even when you do 5/10 times they'll actually answer the phone. We pay so much for a dental plan, and services here, in my situation I have two private coverages and still pay an arm and a leg. On this island you can't get on a list that's open for new patients, unless you willing to wait 6 months+ then when you do get through your getting scammed and disrespected by the staff. The comment that set me off was when the elderly woman said, " I'm not really prepared for this so if they could call me" then the old Japanese lady said " well no one ever is!" The woman said" I'm on a fixed income so I'm just tying to figure out my numbers".. the worker should've shut up there but she just went on and on saying ya no one ever is, and well you just have to wait then, I don't know how important that is to you but it needs to get fixed.... The patient was asking for advice and the woman just gave the worst advice. Like she actually could've got the tooth extracted and it would've been half the trouble. the patient tried to ask but the worker chuckled and clowned her. So sad to see this happening. To think this worker is probably doing this to so many other patients, misrepresenting the manager and owner like that. She always has wise ass remarks an really rude comments. She's out of control. Unless you want to argue to up for a battle beware of this entitled employee. On a side note the girl with the glasses is always trying to do the most for the patients and really can bring the best out of this place. Aside if the old haole dentist who rather be golfing the other staff are so compassionate. But a couple crappy people really ruin it for everyone. Intimidating your patients isn't a good look. I hope the owners see this and fix that work place. It has so much potential and the good ones are what keeps me coming. But the bad ones really ruin it. I can't with Dr Ellis, Sheryl and jasmine they need to retire But shout out to Dr Bonnivie, Jody, Maile, and all the haole girls who hold down professionalism in that place!!! I'm only here for you

    I've been a patient for a couple years at kona coast dental and had no problems. Their website says…read morethey accept kids over one so I booked my son's appointment with them at one years old this year when he had turned two. Dr. Ellis saw my son when he was one, no problems. This year however when I brought my son in for his two year appointment, Dr. Ellis took one look at my son and told the hygienist "I don't do kids." The hygienist stated "well you did last year, it's in the chart." Dr. Ellis responded saying "that must be a joke. I don't do kids. I've never done kids. Is he even going to open his mouth? Did you get in there? I'm in the middle of a root canal." The hygienist was able to look at my sons mouth and do a quick exam before he came. After a couple seconds of trying to take a look at my son's mouth he stated "well that's all I can do" and left. The hygienist was very nice and informative and she seemed shocked that Dr. Ellis would act like that. She could have been the actual dentist in my opinion. But Dr. Ellis was very rude and unprofessional and also, who leaves their patient in the middle of a root canal?? The staff was friendly and nice enough to give me the phone number to an actual pediatric office who can actually handle kids. I just figured since I had no problems, my son shouldn't either. But parents be warned. Dr. Ellis does not do kids. I cancelled my next appointment with this office and was able to book an appointment with another dentist for myself and my son for next year. So long KCDC.
