(At least not legally, financially or professionally.) My wife had the following symptoms - persistent cough, sore throat, mild headache. She had 2 negative COVID tests in the 3 days prior to our visit. And no fever or respiratory issues. The waiting room was nearly empty with one other group waiting. We waited in the lobby for about 30 minutes before going back to an examine room. We spent about an hour in the examine room - about 15 minutes waiting, 15 minutes with the doctor and 30 minutes waiting for the prescription after he left the room. His diagnosis was a sinus infection for which he prescribed antibiotics and rest. The clinic classified this as a "moderate severity" visit. For our 90 minute visit for a sinus infection, the bill came to $9,520.00 (That's not a typo. $9,520 for a 15 minute visit with a doctor on a normal weekday during normal working hours.) Had we not been out of town, we could have visited our regular doctor, but as we were in Livingston for a few days, we didn't have that option. We have insurance, which then discounted the bill to $949.85 which was passed to us as deductible. I can't imagine what someone would do without insurance. Even with good insurance, I am stuck with an almost $1,000 bill for a minor illness. And to top it off, when I called the customer service number to try to negotiate something (i.e. lower price, payments, etc.) the representative I spoke to was extremely rude and hung up on me mid-sentence when I said I did not intend to pay in full at that moment. Unless you are literally (and I don't mean that the way Tik Tok-ers and You Tubers mean it) in fear of your life, do not use Exceptional Emergency Center - Livingston (or any of the Altus Community Healthcare facilities). You will get mediocre care at best, but your bank account will never survive.

About four hours into the visit, I still had not received a CT scan or effective pain control. Around seven hours in, I went looking for the charge nurse because I still did not understand the treatment plan. Her response was essentially to tell me to file a complaint. I told her I wanted treatment, not a complaint process. While I was still in the ER, I called the hospital's patient advocate number. It went to a voicemail message stating that the mailbox was not monitored. The room itself was clean, but the equipment and care process raised serious concerns. The heart-monitor leads were visibly frayed and the monitor repeatedly showed a bad signal. An IV saline bag was connected, but when I later got up to disconnect it, I discovered the bag was still full and had apparently never been turned on. Communication was poor throughout the visit. I repeatedly asked what the treatment plan was and never received a clear answer. Near the end of the visit, I was given a powerful injectable opioid that finally stopped the pain. Shortly afterward, I was simply told I could leave. I do not recall anyone obtaining a fresh set of vital signs immediately before I was told to go, or any meaningful period of observation after the medication. The whole thing felt less like a proper discharge and more like "give the patient a strong drug and send him out the door." My discharge paperwork was also incomplete. I was given only two pages out of an unknown number of pages. The second page begins explaining that my labs showed no signs of organ damage and that the CT scan showed signs of something, but the explanation cuts off and no additional pages were provided. The paperwork also listed more than one prescription, but when we got to the pharmacy, not all of the medications documented on the discharge paperwork had actually been sent over. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this ER.

Ms. Yeates was very thorough--blood tests, chest x-rays, etc. All came by good, but then she took his blood pressure lying down, sitting up, and standing up. It dropped significantly at each change. No one else had ever done this. Now at least we have something specific to check out. In addition, they didn't take my husband's insurance so we had to pay out of pocket. Everything was just under $200. It would have cost us thousands at the ER. I've used this facility before, and I have always been pleased.

Everyday that I took it the swelling and pain went down. By the time I made it to the dentist for treatment I only had a bit of swelling and pain. The Dr knows his stuff! Price was very affordable with my insurance and the support staff were helpful and pleasant despite it being at the end of their working day. Highly recommend them!

The doctor is very personable and not an antibiotic pusher.
