This establishment popped up in a Google search for souvenirs and gifts. I think Google was wrong on this one. They have lots of clothes, toys, Mardi Gras items, glassware, and local artisan items, but no inexpensive gift items featuring Mobile or Mississippi. No one greeted me on the way in or way out. I walked down to Bienville and supported local businesses by purchasing souvenirs and gifts there. read more

I love this store even though I typically don't like to shop. Because Uban Emporium supports local vendors and contains interesting, varied and high quality products (olive oils, jewelry, soaps, pottery, toys, clothes, etc), shopping is fun and worthwhile here. I like this eclectic unusual store. It's a nonprofit that allows new fledgling businesses to get their foot in the door in the retail market. Primarily all the various products are locally made or come from local entrepreneurs, no big box store trinkets in here. Arts, ceramics, jewelry, fashions, dry goods, gourmet dog food, Mardi Gras stuff, etc. Wow! What variety and you can support local business and find extremely unique things as well. This is one of my favorite shops in downtown Mobile. It has everything that I love - well, material things, anyway. This is the place to go for local Mobile merchandise! They have local t-shirts, cookies and toile. We saw a cool black and white cutting board with well-known Mobile buildings on it, and matching hand towels. They have a variety of candles, soaps, lotions and salt scrubs made right here in the Mobile area. They have koozies, mouse pads and a cool coffee mug with the outline of the Mobile skyline in purple, green and gold. Of course, you can't have unique to Mobile without Mardi Gras, and they had a small selection of Mardi Gras items too, including a book on the history of Mardi Gras. In addition to Mobile merchandise, Urban Emporium has a vast selection of women's apparel and jewelry. They even carry a small selection of adorable little girls clothing. I spotted a necklace in the shape of Alabama that I not-so-subtly hinted to my husband would make a great birthday gift. If you need a snack, they also have local Gulf Coast honey, Bake My Day cookies, and Frios Gourmet Pops. This is the perfect little downtown shop, with the perfect name. Love this store! read more

If you are going to require customers to wear a mask, you should probably start with your employee who wasn't wearing one when we walked in yet insisted we do. She could not have been more disinterested in the people inside her store. Unfortunate that during this time when small businesses need our support that their staff can't be more helpful. read more

Great shop in Mobile on Dauphin St. Shop had a selection of locally sourced items we didn't see anyplace else & wasn't all full of only stuff made in China which is always refreshing. The woman working there has a plethora of great Mobile knowledge & it's clear she loves if here. She really shines a great light on the place & makes you want to do business with her. She gave us great recommendations for where to eat & what to see & do. We bought a great selection of locally made soaps & different creams that we can't wait to get home & use. read more

Urban Emporium is my first stop when I need to grab a gift or pick up a piece of last minute jewelry for an outfit. What I love about this gift shop, is that it has something for everyone. I have easily been able to find gifts for friends, co-workers, parents, and my boyfriend. Guests are able to choose from items such as candles and other home decor, books, clothes, jewelry, bath bombs, make up, pet supplies and treats, and even cupcakes just to name a few. I know I'm forgetting some things, but they literally have everything. If you're visiting Mobile and looking for a local souvenir, make sure to stop at Urban Emporium. Even the locals pop in to buy Mobile-specific home decor and t-shirts. On the second Friday of the month, Urban Emporium participates in LoDa Artwork. Last month, Urban Emporium offered wine and a free cheese tasting from The Cheese Cottage, which will definitely get a 5 star review from me once their store opens on St. Louis Street in the fall. The staff here is always friendly and welcoming and willing to answer any questions you may have about their items. I was looking for souvenirs for friends and of course a post card for me to add to my collection. This store is well organized and had a great selection of adult and children's items, candles, jewelry, mermaid tails and everything in between. They also had a ton of local artisan made items from what I could tell. The one shop keeper was really sweet and engaged me in conversation for a while about the mermaid tails. I didn't end up finding what I was looking for but, I really enjoyed browsing the store. This is a great place to pick up a nice gift and they did have their share of Mobile T-Shirts just not in the size I was looking for. If it is raining they also sell ponchos and umbrellas and you should grab one so you don't end up hiding under an overhang for a half hour like I did. read more

One of our most favorite places to shop in downtown Mobile Alabama. There are so many things to look at from women's & baby clothing, to shoes, to children's toys, to memorabilia about this great city - Mobile, to touristy items, books about mobile. Full disclosure, I work here and have worked here over 4 years. Before moving to Mobile I came into the shop as a customer. I was so pleased with the variety of merchandise they offered-at that time it was mermaid tails to evening gowns to dog treats. Less than a year later we moved to Mobile and after unpacking my home I made my way downtown to rediscover that fun shop. They had a Now Hiring sign out front and the rest is history. The Urban Emporium is a retailer incubator. It's a non profit dedicated to the revitalization of downtown Mobile. Businesses come and grow and go. Because of this the merchandise changes up and makes it a fun place to shop for unique fashion, jewelry and gifts. read more

Some amazing stylish clothing here. We visited from out of town and we hit the lotto finding this. Bought a gorgeous long sleeved blouse on sale then went back the next days and the group of us bought a bunch of sweaters and cute outfits. Love this shop. Quirky and there's so much here.
