There is a beautiful outdoor seating area that's been really well landscaped and put together. Lots to look at while you wait for your coffee. There is also a lovely bright converted upstairs with lots of seating and some comfortable sofas to boot. I really love the decor here. It's country style, but fresh and clean. It's a pleasure to dine here. Their menu has a really good selection of eats from sandwiches to full cooked lasagnas, you won't be left wanting. I decided to go with the Tuna Melt. Other members of my party also opted for sandwiches, the club sandwich looking particularly lovely. While I enjoyed my tuna melt, I was expecting a little better. The melt looked great on the plate (see attached picture) but looked more like mini pizzas to me. I think next time I'll be sure to ask for it as a sandwich instead. The club sandwich looked fantastic and the portions are excellent value for money. It would be a really great rival spot to the nearby Bective for evening food. I can only imagine their upstairs looking super romantic with candles and fairy lights. Why should you dine here? Support local businesses! I've seen the sign out on the main road (which would be easy to miss) every day as it's on my commute to work and yet I've never been in. So this worked out well. What a great hidden gem, loved this place. If you're looking for it, it is opposite the attendant-less Maxol garage, down the side of the used car place. The décor has all the hallmarks of a trendy contemporary coffee shop/deli, nothing too original, but to their credit they have distilled the design to the best elements of it and then executed the layout very well, so it's a nice place to be. The staff were great too which I love as there is little to endear a place to me more quickly than nice people working there who are nice, not through customer training but because they are just good folks!! The food when was great, a wide range of mouth-watering choices are clearly displayed across the huge menu..... which is the entire back wall of the place. It has been painted in blackboard paint and the menu chalked up in big clear writing. The prices although on the higher end of average aren't extortionate by any means so I wouldn't call it cheap eats but you get top quality food and service for just north of average price. The coffee was great, which is an essential element for me and the last thing I ate was a scone..... as we were there so early, it was freshly backed and still warm from the oven......................... so so good!

It's a quirky cafe with flower painted walls and wooden tables outside, so you can sit with a coffee and watch the happenings on Thosel Street. I visited early on Sunday morning, 13/08/2017, and it was wonderful as the cafe and street were nearly empty - most of bustling Carlingford seemed to still be in bed. Within an hour everywhere was bustling again, so it was lovely to enjoy the initial peace and quiet. Two friends and I took a table outside in the cool morning sun and ordered three veggie breakfasts and coffees. My veggie omelette, filled with tomatoes, spinach, mushrooms and cheese, and served with toast, was pretty good. The others ordered brown and soda breads with poached eggs. Everyone enjoyed their food. Service was a little slow and there was a slight mix up in our orders - I was initially served brown bread not the white toast I'd asked for and my friend the opposite - but we swapped our bread so all was fine. All in all, an enjoyable experience and next time I'm in Carlingford I will return to try some of the delicious looking cakes they sell.

It's a very small cafe in a very small seaside town close to the Irish border and it's just a two minute walk down the street to the seafront and the mostly pebble beach with great views of the Cooley and Mourne mountains. The cafe was busy although I'd imagine it's the holiday periods and Sunday tourist trade that allows it to survive. I did look at the small harbour to see if the ferry boat was crossing from Warrenpoint in Northern Ireland but I couldn't see it. I think it's called the red star line run by a private family for most of my lifetime - a unique experience if you ever get the chance but it's possible that the relatively new Carlingford ferry has stolen much of its trade.
