Nikki's was dead on, there was little to complain about really, but then nothing to write home…read moreabout either. The décor was good, but didn't really feel like it was making the most of the architectural space. It was clean but not spotless, nor was it dirty as such, although given at the time of our visit it wasn't flat out busy, the tables could have been cleared more promptly. The food was the same, decent, nothing to complain about and does exactly what it says on the tin, without really reaching to surprise or impress. The only area that was genuinely lacking was a bit of friendliness and warmth/good customer service at the till, being asked for your order in clipped deadpan sentences interspersed with talking to other staff members isn't great. All in all it's a place I'd be happy to go back to, and the sort of place that although not stellar as I mentioned doesn't have any critically bad points. It did seem like the kind of place you could go back to on another day and the experience though a range of small incremental improvements be closer to a 5* visit.

Expect the unexpected. That's one of the things I've learnt while visiting places and writing these…read morereviews. I was taken completely by surprise that such a lovely restaurant would lie in the centre of Ballynahinch, I was even more astonished at the service that was so well provided, and I was utterly stupefied by the delicious food that was set in front of me after all that. Unexpected doesn't quite cover it. Cafe Rossi is a chic bistro situated on Ballynahinch's Main Street, which, on this occasion, was the location for a scrumptious lunch. It's divided into two sections - a chilled out, relaxed area for breakfast and lunch with comfy sofas and coffee tables, and a more elegant area for fine dining in the evening. Upon our arrival, my sister and I were quickly shown to our table and provided with menus. There was a decent choice, and it did take me a while to pick (unusual, I know), but I eventually settled on the Famous Rossi Burger, whilst sister got a chicken wrap (it had a fancier name than that, but that will suffice for the meantime). We didn't have too long to wait at all, which was rather impressive, and rather fortunate, as both our tummies were playing melodious tunes with their rumbling. One bite of that burger, and I was in heaven. It was quite possibly the best burger I've ever tasted, and had a spicy kick to it, which went down an absolute treat. The huge side order of criss-cross fries = also delice, and I instantly knew that I wouldn't be able to finish the whole lot (isn't that always the way?). The sis enjoyed the wrap thingamajig, and also staring at the "hot waiter". Apologies Mr Waiter for my gawping sister. She just doesn't know when to stop... With no room left for afters, I paid the bill and departed, feeling very satisfied at finding such a lovely little restaurant. My sister, on the other hand, was feeling incredibly satisfied that she'd had some poor, undeserving waiter to drool over. I guess it was a win / win situation then? (For my sister and I that is, not for the my sister and the waiter...)

It is a wonderfully spacious little restaurant that has a lot of room to cope with a large amount of diners. The ficus here is on good solid home-made favourites. My most recent trip here was after a cemetery Sunday, and my whole family enjoyed they food. My brother's goujons were crispy and tender, my fathers's steak was cooked perfect, my mothers gammon has a delightful glaze and my plaice was truly delicious. We didn't have the appetite for deserts but the menu were very tempting. All in all i have only good things to say about this place, so keep up the good work!

I ordered through a hatch to a face I couldn't see, just a voice, as the cafe seemed closed to sitting inside. The flat white was one of the best I've had. I must add that my 5 stars are based on just on one single coffee on a first visit standing on a street, on what turned out to be one of the hottest days we've ever had in Northern Ireland, 29c. It is unheard off - for the last 8 weeks we've averaged about 16c and usually cloudy every day. The service was swift too, the coffee seemed to appear in a nanosecond. The cup was biodegradable and the plastic lid recycle able. So while it's only a delicious coffee - to make coffee this good shows a passion and a love of food. I was staying in the Slieve Donard hotel. They had the gall to serve the worst coffee and worst breakfast food my family have had served up in a very long time - this was the view of 7 of us. The hotel's rotten 'free breakfast' was provided on foot of having paid £185 a night for a double room for two people (or twice the price of the hard rock hotel London centre in a current deal). I noted that most Donard hotel coffees were priced at £4 but having had their coffee offering at breakfast like their lousy food, I thought never again.

They were packed with people and have a fair amount of options regarding coffees and teas as well as different pastries and desserts. I ended up getting a san Pellegrino can and my fiancé ended up getting a coffee drink. We split one of the desserts and they where really good. The staff here was very friendly and they we busy too. It seemed like a good place to stop for a drink or to meet up with some friends. I bet if you needed to work remotely you could probably sit at a table order a few drinks and be good to go for a while.
