Lately I've been the go to person in my family for babysitting. Because of this I've been spending…read morea fair amount of time at this playground and I'm a huge fan, here is why: 1. Its free! and the best things in life really are. 2. It's enclosed! with metal bar fencing that doesn't resemble a prison and yet still has the same effect. niiice. 3. There is an old steam engine which is the feature of the play equipment. I sure there's some sort of history lesson in that...yay! the park is educational as well!! 4. There is a bathroom with a change table and its clean enough that you can use it before you get absolutely desperate! 5. There are park benches available within the fencing and outside too, so if you have older kids with you too they can run around on the grassy area. 6. I was a kid once, and my folks used to take me to this play ground and I thought it was awesome. 7. There are BBQ facilities, so you can have a gathering there and keep the kids occupied while everyone else does adult things, like drinking beer! only kidding guys, this is a dry zone and that would be slightly irresponsible. 8. There's car parking so if you do have a picnic you don't have the lug the basket halfway to Antarctica. 5 gold stars for a free family day of fun.

I spent hours and hours of my childhood in this playground. Steam Roller Park isn't huge, but what…read moreit lacks in size it make up for in variety and proximity to candy stores. It's an ideal place to take the kids if you're out shopping in Stirling because there's enough equipment and hills to occupy the small ones while you socialise or relax on the benches. You see family gatherings and events in the rotunda or at the bbq and benches of this park all the time. Parking's good and immediate as the park shares with the community theatre across the way, there's a drink fountain and public toilet on the same premises. I was particularly fond of climbing up on the steam roller and playing driver when I was a lad, but the rest of the play equipment is great too. Lots of variation and challenges for kids to tackle.

Actually, I remember…read morefinding out able the place because of a map that I had picked up at a restaurant we had visited. Yeah, this place was okay, it was fun when I was a kid, but when I walked past it years later I have to admit that it wasn't all that great. Still, as a playground, it does have some charm, and does bring back some memories.

They have the longest slippery dip in this suburb and that's just not fair for some of us who would like something similar in our backyard. Welcome to adventure land. If you can't make it to St Kilda playground, this is kinda mini (double mini version) of St Kilda. A long slippery dip awaits you and it stretches all the way down. I've seen many parents enjoy a fun ride down the slide with their kids in tow. Huge wooden timber fort awaits you in this slippery dip as you call out your mates to join you here. You'll also find a horse riding swing equipment, fantastic swings, flying fox and wait for it.....a long suspension bridge which will guarantee hours of fun, giggles and a bit of butterflies in your tummy! Plenty of benches and plenty of picnic spots to throw a rug here. The only downside I found was the council should have planted more trees here as it can get pretty hot during summer and you don't want to end up with a toasty butt on your way down the slippery dip! Overall: I heart Dunstan Playground.

There is so much that I love about this playground. I love that the playground itself has shaded areas built into it. I love that there's a variety of equipment for different ages. I love that you can almost launch yourself off of some of the slides. I love that it's fully fenced. I love that there's even a ramp onto the playground for those children who need wheels to get around. I love that apart from the ramp there's still about four different ways to actually get on to the playground. Can you tell I'm excited? BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!! I love that there sheltered table/chairs AND a working drinking fountain so close to the playground. I love that there's a basketball hoop not too far away. I love that you can have dogs in the park (but not in the fenced off playground area). I love that there's a BBQ! I LOVE IT!!! SO why didn't I give this a five star rating???? Because there's no toilets :-( This IS a destination playground for me because I don't have to drive far to get to it. I would however, prefer to have toilets at a playground that I drove across town to get to. This is a wonderful place....a 'must play' playground. *Dogs allowed (not in playground area)* *WORKING drinking fountain* *Sheltered table/chairs* *Fenced playground area* *Basketball hoop*

However it is where the Aldinga Community Centre is. There are toilets, including disabled ones, and water available. There is a kids playground on one side and a tennis court and a garden, presumably for the community centre. Around the far side near Ryan Avenue there is a dog agility course with tunnels and things to run up and hurdles. It's cool, even without a dog! There's also dog bags available on the fence. Over the Stewart Ave side there is a dirt BMX track and also a large skate park facility. Plus all around the oval area there are fitness stations. Looking by the size of them they are made for adults, way too high for kids. There is also a nice bright playground looking structure my child ran to saying "another playground!". I looked at it kind of confused for a minute then told him I thought it was actually part of the fitness facilities and not a kids playground. Lots of poles and climbing things but really high. Although they then had a couple of little ride on spring pieces of equipment in the same spot as well. There was also shelter and at least one BBQ I saw. Plenty of parking on site too. A good place for a day out with all aged people, but bring extra stuff like scooters, skateboards, balls, etc. to make it even more enjoyable and not run out of things to do.

Alec Johnston Park is one such park in Hahndorf the helps the Main street immensely. With all of the shopping, eating and drinking options along the Hahndorf main drag, you really find yourself drawn toward this park, which sits roughly in the middle of the shopping precinct. The big plus for me is the public toilets. Although I use needing to drain the snake as an excuse for refilling the tank at a pub, others may be struggling. Some times it is useful to take a load off and drop a load too! It is a pretty simple park, with a brook running down one side and some grass areas for staring at the clouds. I like to look for severed body parts and boobs, but if fluffy bunnies and kittens are more within your imagination zone.....boring, but ok.

The park like environment was very pretty with plenty of picnic seating, toilets and shelter. The actual play equipment was definitely tired and only suited to older children. The height of the platforms on the climbing equipment was of particular concern with no safety rails and no sense of the drop beyond in multiple directions. While the playground was fenced to maintain the safety of young children, the equipment was not suitable for their use. One of the two swings was also broken. It is disappointing that younger children are not catered for in this otherwise delightful setting.

Like so much of our public land, the Uraidla And Districts Soldiers Memorial Park is on land donated to the community many many years ago. The big difference about this park is it remains community owned. The main positive of this is, unlike other public spaces, the park can not have sections sold off of it to generate short term income for the council of the day. The park is truly multipurpose, incorporating football, netball, tennis and cricket, as well as many community events including the annual Uraidla and Summertown Show and Sustainability Fair. Also, during bushfires the adjacent RSL building serves as a Country Fire Service command centre with the oval being used by emergency helicopters and vehicles. As one of the only 'bushfire safer' refuges in the area the park is of great emergency response significance. All of these groups activiely work together to keep the park maintained and functional. Sections of the park are also available for hire by the public for events and weddings, as are the show buildings, including the main hall and kitchen. The grounds themselves are well maintained (as they aren't dependant on the council) and are always undergoing improvements where ever possible thanks to the time donated by enthusiastic members of the community. Thanks to this, there are few places better to be in the Adelaide Hills on a summer's day than under a tree in the Uraidla and Districts Soldiers Memorial Park.
