Personally, my wife and I are at the age that we don't use the park very often. However, when our grandkids were here this past weekend, they wanted to go to "that nice park" you took us to last time we were here (over a year ago). Millstone Creek Park offers a little of everything. Nice assortment of playground equipment; accessible; a variety of activities; sports fields; nature/wetlands area; picnic shelter and restrooms. Plenty of parking. My only suggestion for improvement would be the addition of a few more benches for the grandparents who bring their grandkids to the park.

There are always parts of the park that are secluded, even on busy holidays or weekends - it's easy to find a peaceful place to sit, paint, journal, or relax away from too much noise. There are many benches all over so plenty of places to sit in the sun or shade.

Spring Creek isn't paved (grassy and gravel) so it's nice for dogs' paws on a hot day. This is one of the quieter, better preserved metro parks. They have done a great job restoring native prairies here - we saw a lot of wildlife (herons, and many different types of birds) and there were even wild black raspberries or blackberries growing. There are lots of big open green spaces and more forested spaces, plus the lake. It also didn't seem quite as packed as other metro parks. I will say, like any other Columbus Metro Park, the "hikes" aren't hikes, they are walks. If you're visiting from out of town, don't expect a "hike" - it's just a nice walk in a park.

It is a relatively new park (about 5 years old) and has a somewhat non-traditional playground. The playground at Johnston-McVay is actually divided into two sections: * the upper section (closest to the parking lot) features the HAWK, a large wooden climing structure and some "roller slides". This area offers a lot of opportuity for climbing and creative play. * the lower section (closer to the road) has both traditional swings as well as a very unique swing that aloows up to 5 or 6 kids to swing togehter at the same time. My granddaughter and four or five newly found friends were swinging and singing a pirate ditty - pretending that the swing was a pirate ship. One of the nicest features of the park is that there are plenty of benches (some traditional - some large blocks of stone) for parents and grandparents to sit. The park also offers a nice mix of sunny and shady areas.
