I commissioned upright garage door services for replacing a metal strip on our garage door that got bent when the garage door wasn't properly closed. I had an appointment in no time, the time frame for arrival was reasonable, and the employee showed up on time. They quickly figured out the problem and recommended replacing the metal strip with one that would reach from one side to the other and informed me that it was a commonly known problem with that type of garage door. The metal strip got ordered and about two weeks and another appointment later, the garage door was professionally repaired to a reasonable price and in a short time. He recently installed a new garage door opener mechanism for me, and as part of his work, he did a basic overall inspection & tune-up. He's a very colorful character, too. If you hang around to help/talk with him, he will absolutely talk your ear off! He & Juanita are the first to admit it, so I'm not talking-bad about him, just warning you that you or someone else's presence can make the difference between a 90 minute job and a 150 minute job. So our garage door opener went out..well not completely but it was acting erratic. We had a Home Depot Chamberlain and we were replacing it with the same. So we called around asking about installation prices ...that's how we talked to Larry. He told us those openers were crap and would continue to break but he'd put it in if we wanted. He suggested we get a Genie PRO (not the one sold at Home Depot or Lowes). It was considerably more expensive so we had to think about it. We decided to go for it. We brought a belt drive, internet based opener. Mike installed it with no problems but when I went to download the app & add the opener, it wasn't loading on. The bracket connecting the J arm to my garage door ripped off a chunk of metal. According to YouTube it was an easy fix, but since I don't have the tools, it made sense to leave it to professionals. Searching Yelp for any kind of repairman depresses the hell out of me. I quickly lose faith in humanity and end up paranoid that everyone is out to upsell and rip me off. Luckily I came across Upright pretty quickly and although I only actually read their single 2 star whiny review, they totally lived up to their 5 stars on both service and price. I called 4 places, texted/emailed photos for an exact quote and came back with a pretty big range of $25-150. The $25 one seemed like bs and wtf $150?! The expensive one was really highly rated too, so always be sure to get several quotes to factor into your decision. Upright came in the middle with a quote of $78 for parts and labor, but I was sold on them from texting with the lady on the phone (Sorry I don't remember your name!). I already had a $25 operator reinforcement bracket from home depot, and really only wanted a quote on labor, but she said their parts were less. She gave me pricing on a couple options for parts, and I also believed her when she said they won't try to sell me on unnecessary repairs or maintenance. They're a small family business so I couldn't get an appointment till the next day, but not a big deal. I was given an hour range for the appointment and Ryan showed up exactly on time at 1:30. He went over both options again, but suggested the cheaper $5 repair since this wasn't a heavy steel door + their standard $68 service fee, which is around what all the other companies charged for labor also. So they ended up slightly less than the quote. Yay! His $5 fix with a perfectly cut slotted angle secured at 7 points works so much better than the original bracket held by 2 screws. And they saved me $20 by not using my home depot buy. Love that they went out of their way to save a customer money and only do what was really needed. Labor also includes quick service check, so he lubed up the wheels, or rails, I dunno which... But now my loud ass garage rolls quiet like a ninja! Another plus is that their free estimate actually is free. Hopefully you bookmark this and will use Upright in the future, but if you insist on wasting time researching other companies - heads up that a lot of the "free estimates" they offer are total bullshit. They'll charge a service fee that you can apply all or partially toward the repair cost IF you use them. If not, you're out that money. I noticed it in a lot of the bad reviews of other companies, and the not really free quote was never mentioned until I specifically asked. read more

Great Job on the Garage Work. Our garage coil had snapped about maybe 5-6 months ago and I was procrastinating on getting it fixed. I was also doing some major garage cleaning anyway so even if I had gotten it fixed, we had no garage space for our cars. So after months of "tidying up" it was finally time to get the garage working again. I called around to several companies first for estimates on the job. When I was first quoted $220 from a friend of a friend who didn't work for a company, but just said they would fix it, I thought it was too excessive, but after calling around I realized "whoo that's about what everyone charges." Anyway I tried 3 different companies and Upright was the most reasonable. I called to make an appointment and their receptionist was great! She was so friendly and booked me in right away. On the day of the scheduled appointment, two men showed up and they got right to work. I let them do their thing which took about maybe 40-50 minutes ( don't recall). When they were done they even mentioned that they had done some extra work ( like readjust my motor ) - the previous guys had done a faulty job apparently - which I thought was kinda neat and no they did not charge for it. Overall they did an amazing job on resolving my garage dilemma and I would highly recommend there company to anyone dealing with garage issues. read more

I called Ryan, the owner/operator. He contacted me back within less than 30 minutes. Due to schedule conflicts, he was extremely accommodating, as well as very professional and reassuring.
