Wing Sing...well where do I start? I have been eating in this place for over 10 years, and despite…read morethe fact that it doesn't necessarily have the trendiness or, dare I say, 'ponceyness' of other Chinese restaurants, there is one things that just keeps me coming back for more; the food is absolutely SUPERB.
I'll be honest, I'm rather picky about my Chinese grub and I generally make my way up to China Town (Central London) for my food, however if you did want to pick something up from a local Chinese, well Wing Sing certainly will NOT disappoint.
So let's get down to the brass tax, you are reading this with the intention of finding about the food, so here we go! Firstly, I recommend a dish which is NOT on the menu, and even the fact that this dish is not on the menu, but they still manage to rustle it up, well that says a lot about Wing Sing. The Barbecue Pork Noodle Soup is like a main meal all in itself. When you hear 'soup' I know what you're thinking, a teeny little bowl with a few bits of vegetable floating around in it. No No No, the BBQ Pork Noodle Soup consists of delicious thin noodles, crunchy fresh vegetables and an abundance of divinely flavoured BBQ pork. The bowl is huge and soup flavour itself is so good you could just drink it on its own.
The Meats are all very fresh here, the chicken and beef is really good, but like most Chinese restaurants it's all about the pork!!! But each to their own, whichever meat preference you have you won't be displeased, and you can choose from an array of wonderful dishes.
I don't think you can ever devalue the importance of rice. I love rice, it's one of main dietary preferences, and I don't think rice can ever be devalued in any meal. Well, the rice at Wing Sing will blow your mind!!! I normally just go for a plain boiled rice, steaming, fluffy and scrumptious. I love egg fried rice, and that's great here too, but that's just my preference. The Chow Mein's are fantastic too, not too oily, and really nicely put together.
This is a family owned restaurant, a cute little environment, kind of like a little café. I guess you might say it has a rather quaintness about it. The service is fantastic and prices are reasonable.
If this hasn't sold it to you....then what will???
I really hope you heed my advice and visit Wing Sing soon, and if you do, please let me know how you got on!
Happy Eating!!!
