Indian Stream is a terribly run facility. I have never had a problem with a provider but they can…read morenever keep their providers for long. I am a 55 year old woman who has been in and out of hospitals approxamitly 20 times in 2 years. I have been to 8 different hospitals. Because I was so sick I lost my full time job. I had a heart attack, phenomina, diverticulitis, 3 knee operations, Next week I have a double operation to remove part of my colon and an ovary, I have a pocket on my lung that will require them to break my ribs to remove it, I had suicide ideation between the medical stress and diagnosis of Bipolor, PTSD, and Anxiety which was another hospital stay. I have congested heart failure, diabetes, and high blood pressure. All of the hospitals have dealt with each other and with my financial difficulties. Indian steam was perturbed by my desire to switch to weeks medical because they have a better mental health plan which I felt I needed. Indian Stream told me I was not allowed to use their facilities anymore if I switched. The thing was, I was in the middle of planning a knee operation and needed my primary care physician's permission so I switched back and stayed for two more operations. When I couldn't go to Indian Stream I couldn't use their social workers either so everything I was working on was gone. When I went to schedule a follow up for my double operation that the hospital requested I was told by the receptionist that she didn't understand and wanted the hospital to call her directly because my request didn't make sense. Indian Stream's computer system is a nightmare. They constantly take old medications out and the next visit old medications are still there. I, as well as Indian Stream staff have been placed in collection on accident and they had to go and take us out. I have been in New Hampshire only 3 years and I have been on a sliding scale with them. 1st year on a B scale...$10 a visit. Second year A scale..no copay. This year B scale. I agreed to pay $25 a month..which in current situation I sometimes paid every other month. In September, while I was in the mental hospital they put me in collections. When I got out I called them asking for "A payment for deletion" a legal term where I would pay the bill and they would take it out of collection and off my credit report. They refused to do it. In June when I went I got a print out of zero balance...so I should have a $10 balance for that visit. I called, an they say $30. I talked to collections and they said you paid 2 payments in January..3 in April and 1 in July. They say we send after 90 days no payment but it was only 60. So, now the director of the financial office is saying they are looking at the begining ..3 years ago. How was I on a sliding scale, made payments and ended up with over $300 in collection? It just doesn't make sense. And of course their print out of services is gobbledelygoook. The director won't do payment for deletion. It's extremely trying when you are elderly and sick both physically and mentally and you are treated so poorly by the people who are supposed to help you.

Beware! Dr. Armstrong should be avoided at all costs…read more I had the awful luck of winding up in the Rumford ER with a severe migraine during a ski trip to Sunday River. I have suffered from debilitating migraines for over 8 years, and I have had a wide range of ER experiences. I can confidently say that, without a doubt, Rumford is the worst ER I have ever had the misfortune to enter. Despite the fact that I exhibited strong signs of dehydration due to nausea, the doctor didn't even order a saline drip until I asked for it. Even a first-year med student should know how crucial hydration is in treating a migraine. Throughout my stay, I was repeatedly ignored, treated as if my condition was unimportant, and finally accused of "narcotics behavior" because they wanted to give my bed to someone else. Dr. Armstrong didn't even bother to verify my treatment history before jumping to wild conclusions and utilizing unprofessional intimidation tactics, including threatening to call the police out of the blue. I have never once been told at an ER before that I had "been there too long." I think the length of my stay reflects on how poorly mismanaged my care was by Rumford's staff. Dr. Armstrong was rude, condescending, and even stooped to threatening me while I was laying in a hospital bed, crying in pain. My father called to check in and make sure I was getting proper treatment, and Dr. Armstrong actually hung up the phone on him! All I can figure is this area must be severely short on qualified doctors. I had to leave this place, make the three-hour drive home, and check in to a hospital near where I live. They admitted me for FOUR DAYS for the same pain Rumford had disregarded and mismanaged. AVOID this place at all costs, especially Dr. Armstrong! Drive an extra hour and save yourself the nightmare of a lifetime.
