I recently just started paying for my own insurance through the health insurance market place. Not…read moreknowing a lot about the health insurance world I chose a plan that had a decent yearly individual deductible. My plan is almost $400 a month. Having just moved to Ohio I needed a new Doctor for mental health purposes. The young lady that answered the phone could not have made me feel more like I had the plague once I mentioned I had Molina Health insurance, she indicated this was Medicaid and they don't take Medicaid. I said, I don't have Medicaid, I pay out of pocket every month for my insurance. Very degradingly she said "Molina is considered Medicaid" we do not take it". Oooof the anxiety the response gave me. So I asked if I could be a self pay patient, as I just need to see a doctor to get my mental health under control. She said we can't do self pay if you have Medicaid. I said I don't have Medicaid I have Molina. LordT if I could have only known that I would be treated like a leper I would have never mentioned my insurance plan. I really wish people were nicer in the office and realize that there are REAL people suffering from mental health problems. Being kind really goes a long way, you never know how your tone or inflection can trigger someone's mental health.

I was placed on the Ocean Side floor, which I knew right away I was on the wrong floor. I asked a few times to get moved upstairs where there was less chaos and was told "there's no rooms up there" Ok, fine I let it go and sucked it up, and then my last day leaving I was told there was no reason why I was on Oceanside the entire time because there were in fact beds on the 3rd floor. On top of all of that, my blood pressure was 160-180/100-121 the ENTIRE time while I was there and no one batted an eye ball. It took them 3-4 days to recognize an issue after I had to bring it to their attention that something needed to be done to help lower it. Throughout my stay, I was taking charge and advocating for majority of the patients who weren't being cared for correctly. I had rooms changed for 2 different patients while I was in there so they can be in my room and feel safe, not in danger being in a room with someone who has a history of violence and is 3 times their size. I also was hit in the head full force by another patient with a pillow case full of clothes that he carried around for HOURS. Again, no one batted an eye. Not one staff member did anything and all I got was an "I'm sorry Amanda" They had 2 violent patients who needed one on ones the entire time on the floor I was on, again VERY unsafe I also want to reflect on the fact that I was only pink slipped for 72 hours and was lied to about having to stay until Saturday until the doctor was on her way out the door. But I sucked it up and made it through because I was also told by your staff that if I cried or showed any sign of weakness I'd have to stay longer. My entire visit was honestly a complete joke. I did not see one counselor, therapist, or social worker other than to speak about my discharge to make sure I had a safe place to go home. They never even scheduled my doctor's appointment for follow up like they said they were going to, I did it myself. I had no mentoring, no one on one time, literally NOTHING and the only thing good I took from my stay was the Naltrexone I was put on, which my doctor could have done. Ive watched your staff medicate someone at 2-3am multiple times and when they won't wake up for breakfast because of the medicine, they tell them its their fault they didn't wake up and now they have to wait for lunch. They treat the patients like criminals instead of human beings that need REAL HELP! How you expect people to heal or get better in this type of environment is beyond me. You have group sessions consisting of coloring pages and UNO cards. NOT one thing in any of those activities pertains to anything mental health wise. You keep these patients in an environment where you have nothing but a hallway to walk up and down all day and MAYBE a gym to shoot a basketball for 30 minutes a day if they feel like letting you go outside. Imagine being locked in a "room" with people and only being able to breathe or have a little space for 30 minutes out of a 24 hours day. A lot of the things that go on in your facility are very unethical and not beneficial at all! With that being said, maybe you should look more at your patient success rate AFTER their discharge because majority of them are frequent fliers with still not one resource to help them, just a GPS bracelet and medications. I hope this reaches you and I hope that you can maybe take things into consideration and make your facility a little more helpful and beneficial instead of just collecting money for shoving medications down people's throats. Have a Blessed Day!

This place does not care about you or your mental health and doesn't do anything they say they will do. What they WILL do is screw with your medications, treat you like dirt if you are homeless, accuse you of being an addict with zero proof, waste your time and when your insurance money runs out tell you oh well, bye. THE DAS program is a joke and of you get LIsa as a caseworker look out. She is lazy, never shows up and will lie about you. Dr. Harlan is a quack.

The first psychiatrist was a male. He was filled with ego and made comments about my body and life. Told me personal details about his life no doctor should share with a client. So what happened when his male ego was bruised and he realized I was switching? He wrote nasty things about me on my chart, to my methadone clinic and to the other doctors. Ita obvious he was trying to cover his ass. Luckily I have a good relationship with my other clinic so they didn't believe his lies. I switched to a female doctor. At first she pushed and pushed and pushed to get me on a SSRI. I told her repeatedly no. Made me very uncomfortable. She is caring overall but struggled to speak English and couldn't use the computer programs well, as I saw during my appointments. I have gone through several instances of withdrawal. Due to their negligence. Recently it took me two weeks to get my prescription. Even though I went to my appointment. They schedule me every 90 days with the doc. Even though I'm in biweekly therapy and it should be less. Only On one medication now. The reason I'm leaving this review is for the people who need high levels of care. This place only wants your money! Karen At the front desk is the nicest!
