Wish I could give more stars. Sheesh, what a phenomenal experience Improv 1 was. Jess and I decided for 2019 to challenge ourselves overall and this improv class found its way into our lives. Being introverts we were hesitant at first. Our first impression after we signed up was a phone call with the founder of Unscripted Productions, Will. He has great energy and just knew we made the right move after a five minute phone call. The class made us get out of our comfort zone, be silly, take on different personas, make lifelong friends and built trust all while being in a safe environment. Their Mission Statement: "Using creativity and improvisation to maximize human potential." Even sitting in the audience of the Newtown Theater, it was apparent how effective Unscripted Productions in general, and The Teachers' Lounge troupe in particular, was in bringing parts of human personality to the fore and holding everyone involved in the light, both spiritually and klieg. Will Dennis and his three companions were a high energy team involving the audience in their skits and even calling them up to the stage to join in the spontaneous merriment. Give them three unusual objects, moments in history or dialogue from Neil Simon plays, and they return with an hilarious sketch called out if their interactive imagination. It was all great! Although the evening began as a fundraiser for local candidates a week before the election, it quickly became an exercise in team building and support for the final get out the vote push, while it also showed another side of all of us who were ready for some fun after so many month of all too serious campaigning. Didn't know how funny those guys were! So, we raised some money, ate some good food provided by local restaurants and delis, and enjoyed an unexpectedly wonderful evening. With trepidation I enrolled in an improv class this year. Will, our instructor, was a master at creating the structure we needed to develop improv skills. Many of us had some anxiety as we learned improv. Will was deft at instilling confidence as we grew as an improv team. Will's positivity was essential to help us develop our improv skills. I just took the Level One improvisation workshop, and I really can't remember when I've had this much fun. I learned that improv is, among other things, a way to learn how to be spontaneous without worrying about the outcome. I also didn't know that improv is a team 'sport,' and learned that to really enjoy it, we had to get each other's back. After 7 classes, our very diverse group of students bonded. That was unexpected and totally awesome. Will Dennis is a gifted teacher, one who takes being silly serious. Most of us are taking Level Two next month. read more

Just finished taking my first ever improv class with Will and hopefully it will not be my last! This was a wonderful experience both to learn about the art of improv and to learn a few things about myself that I didn't know. Will is so talented in explaining the principals of improv and then using the games to help students learn the skills and really get the concepts. Will is the real deal. He is talented in many ways and he is a genuinely good person. One of the "rules" of improv is to make the other person/people look good. Will does that with everyone in the class. (I just took his first improv class). The other rules of improv (google them!) are rules to live by and I applaud Will in his work of spreading these positive approaches to life through improv. Will is funny, supportive, and extremely adept at teaching acting and improv! He helped us through the sometimes scary, but always exhilarating "high wire act" of improv, always providing guidance and support, so we always felt like we had a safety net ! I can't recommend Will highly enough. His Intro to Improv class was so much fun. He focused on easy-to-grasp, basic concepts and had the perfect games/exercises to practice the techniques. Will has been working with my daughter for several months and we couldn't be happier! He makes my daughter feel completely at ease during their coaching sessions. She's really able to move out of her comfort zone (which is what is sometimes required in acting and improv) and is able to focus on growing as an actor!
