Warning: Serious Issues at UNO Dental - San Francisco I had a full completed root canal procedure at UNO - that resulted in months of constant pain, bleeding, and swelling despite two emergency visits. The tooth completely fell out on December 21st while I was at dinner on Haight Street--just 4 days before Christmas. And every single time I left their office. I never got a follow up. Call to see how I was doing... not even to this day, I immediately contacted UNO Dental for emergency care. They offered one appointment at 1 PM on a Friday during my work hours. When I explained I couldn't make that time and called back, I received zero response--no callback, no text, no follow-up care whatsoever. It's been over three weeks of complete silence. Adding insult to injury, I was pressured into a payment plan of $6,000-$7,000 that wasn't clearly explained. I'm still being billed monthly for a tooth that fell out due to what I believe was inadequate care. Throughout my experience, there was no follow-up after procedures, dismissive communication, and a fundamental lack of patient care. The timing--right before the holidays when I couldn't eat properly--made this nightmare even worse. I'm pursuing complaints with the California Dental Board. My attorney is drawing up papers and other complaints to take them to court. I wish this were a small claims matter, but unfortunately the damage is far more than $10,000. I have been a patient of the Uno Dental San Francisco office for the past year and a half or so and up until the past 6 months I had no complaints. The visits were long and expensive but this is dental care in San Francisco so nothing entirely unexpected. Within the last 6 months the quality of care I have received has dropped dramatically. I used to call the office and would be able to speak to a real life receptionist who would answer my questions and schedule my appointments. Now Uno Dental is using some kind of AI assistant to answer all their phone calls and when you give your personal phone number to get a call back no one ever calls. The same goes for all email correspondence. I have sent countless emails with very few replies. The sparse replies I do receive, seem to be AI written and don't actually answer my questions about billing or scheduling appointments. I have been going through the Invisalign process and am currently on my last few sets of aligners. But during my last checkup appointment Dr. Kandar wanted to schedule a time to re-shape some of my molars to better fit the final retainer. During that appointment I asked for an outline of what that treatment would cost and a written summary of exactly what would be carried out during that appointment. I never received those summaries and when I called or emailed the office to request more information I never received any response. The communication has gotten so bad that I physically showed up to the office to speak with Dr. Kandar. After waiting almost 2 hours to even speak with him he was deflective and continued to try and avoid taking responsibility for all my complaints. We talked for probably 15 minutes and he assured me that he would personally email me back and speak with the team about the lack of communication I have received. That was 3 weeks ago and I have still not heard from him or anyone at Uno Dental. I get the sincere impression that he may be the only person working at the office and is just lying about having any sort of support team other than the useless AI receptionist. The bottom line is that I would highly recommend NOT doing any business with Uno Dental. They do not communicate effectively, they make patients wait egregious amounts of time, and are not upfront about treatment costs. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. I went to UNO Dental for a routine cleaning -- and left with 5 ground-down teeth, thousands in bills, and a crown that already fell off one month later. At my very first visit, I was told I had "a lot of decay" and needed to act quickly. They pressured me into immediate treatment without fully explaining what was wrong or why. Over the course of five or so separate appointments (spanning more than 30 hours in the chair), I ended up with 5 crowns, multiple gingivectomies (gum cutting), scaling and root planing procedures, and charges for "core buildups," nitrous, photos, and more. After charging me over $10,000, they gave me another bill for $6,000. The $6,000 bill was Supposedly a mistake, and once called out, they retracted it. The worst part? The permanent crowns had barely been in for a month when one popped off while I was simply flossing. My gums have not even fully healed from all of the treatment and a crown has already come off..... I'm in pain, I can't chew comfortably, and I'm genuinely afraid of what lasting damage may have been done to my teeth and gums. I trusted this office because I didn't know better. They had me sign consent forms every visit, once the assistant (not the dentist) had explained the plan. I didn't even realize how aggressive and excessive the treatment was until I later looked up my records and compared my experience to others. And what I found? Dozens of similar reviews. Other red flags: * I was in the chair for 5-7.5 hours at multiple appointments. * They often prepped more teeth than they originally said, sometimes mid-visit. * The dentist himself said contamination occurred during one appointment and warned the crown might come off (which it now has). * They had me write a 5-star review in exchange for a free whitening before my treatment even began, and then after I wrote the review, they said that to get the whitening I also had to refer another patient. * The entire front office and hygiene staff is just one person handling everything. * I told them that the nitrous oxide was making me nauseous and they did not take me seriously at all, nor did they even explain the nitrous to me before they gave it to me, and I almost passed out at one point before they finally heard me that the nitrous was affecting me negatively. The dentist said it was because I ate food before my appt... but at my prior appt, the staff member had told me that it's recommended to eat before the nitrous... * The treatment was extremely painful * Multiple times I showed up on time for my scheduled visit, only for them to tell me they didn't have time to see me at my scheduled time and I had to reschedule (they told me this AFTER I had already showed up) I feel sick knowing I may have lost perfectly healthy tooth structure for no good reason. This has been an extremely traumatic and expensive experience. Deeply disappointed by my visit. Despite explicitly declining X-rays, they performed them anyway with an unprofessional assistant who struggled to operate the equipment. The appointment was plagued with serious issues: - Assistant required several attempts for each X-ray, significantly extending the visit and exposing me to unnecessary radiation - Assistant's dangling jewelry repeatedly contacted my face and eyes during treatment which is unprofessional and unhygienic for a dental practice - Standard appointment unnecessarily dragged on for 2.5 hours - During whitening, chemicals were spilled on my lip causing a blister - Billed insurance for surprising services never discussed nor performed to claim insurance payments (like "nutritional advice") - When confronted about these charges by email, they made false claims about coverage and are still billing $100 - They use an AI bot to communicate who overly explains over very long emails that are impossible to read, and they do not return phone calls Most concerning is their pattern of dishonest practices, which aligns with other reviews I've found online. They apparently offer whitening discounts in exchange for 5-star reviews to bury negative feedback. Be very careful with this practice. Feels Like a Scam -- Pushing Expensive, Unnecessary Procedures Sure, the tech is modern and everything runs through text. But behind the sleek interface is a clinic that seems more focused on pushing overpriced treatments than actually helping patients. I went in for tooth sensitivity. They cleaned HALF of my teeth, then sent in a receptionist (not even the dentist) to quote me $7,000 for a root canal -- without explaining if I really needed it or what my insurance would cover. They wanted a 50% deposit upfront, before I even had time to think or get a second opinion. Oh, and they had me sign waivers and pushed a payment plan right away. Huge red flag. I've had a root canal before. They don't cost $7,000. Anywhere. They told me they'd reimburse what insurance covers -- which sounds nice, until you're stuck fighting to get your money back. I told them I wanted a second opinion. They still hadn't finished my cleaning. My new dentist called multiple times to get my X-rays -- no response, just the same useless AI receptionist. When I texted Uno directly, they replied fast -- but asked me to sign another waiver and pay $30 just to send MY X-rays. Seriously? New dentist checked out the tooth, took X-rays, did the right tests -- and confirmed I didn't need a root canal at all. Saved me thousands. Update-- I moved to a new dentist who had to re-take the x rays that I PAID uno dental for because they were taken so badly that it was unreadable. Not only does uno dental charge for medical records-- they don't even know how to take proper x-rays and will sell them to you anyways. I know this is true because the x-rays taken at uno dental do not show the one actual cavity that I do have-- which makes sense because out of the 6 cavities they said I had, the only tooth with the actual cavity was never found or mentioned. Amjad Kandar at uno dental told me all 4 of my straight wisdom teeth needed to be extracted due to cavities, he also tried to get me to fill 2 of my lower molars which he stated had cavities. After my new dentist took proper x rays, it was found that none of the 6 teeth Amjad Kandar tried to treat even had cavities- they are all healthy teeth. Either he did this because he's too unskilled to properly diagnose a cavity, or he was being deceptive. Either way, both of these reasons are extremely concerning. TLDR: He quoted me ~$1000 per tooth after insurance for simple composite fillings on teeth that DIDNT EVEN HAVE CAVITIES-- he would have drilled and extracted healthy teeth if I didn't get a second opinion. The dental assistant at uno took 15+ minutes to take useless x-rays that had to be thrown out, meanwhile my new dentist was able to take accurate x-rays in under 5 minutes. If you're going to take a long time to do something, at least do it right. Don't go here unless you want to be charged a hefty premium to destroy your healthy teeth, have your time wasted, and be under the care of unskilled workers. read more

My first appointment was great! They didn't have time to do my cleaning, but rather evaluated my mouth by taking x-rays, which the technician was very gentle with. She also made me feel comfortable and relaxed by cracking jokes with me and just overall being friendly, polite, patient and nice with me. The doctor then came in and measured my gums which was a little painful, but that was mostly my fault because I had poor dental hygiene and routines regarding flossing and brushing. During that process he expressed to me the meaning behind the different measurement numbers and what the outcome may be regarding the measurement of my gums. The dentist went on to take a digital copy of my mouth with a new device that I had never seen before but helped explain the circumference of my teeth and mouth. The concluding diagnosis came out to be that I have gum disease. The doctor expressed to me that we will have to do a deep cleaning which may be very painful but they will do their best to make it as pain free as possible. We booked a follow up only a week later, which I was surprised they had availability so fast! During my second appointment we did my deep cleaning. First, they numbed up my gums with a gel which helped with the numbing injections. The only painful part of the cleaning process was honestly the first three injections on the top right part of my gums. He went on to the left side of my gums and I barely felt the injection on that side, but still tensed up because of my fear of needles. I guess due to the intensity of the treatment, my body began trembling and shaking so I thought I was cold (even though I was wearing my warmest clothes). They had a heated blanket prepped and ready at the foot of the chair and the doctor helped put it on me before proceeding with my left side which really helped me realize that I wasn't necessarily cold but just slightly nervous and tensing/stiffening my body. Once I realized this I was able to relax. The whole process took less time than the X-rays and initial examination of my mouth. He also had a new device that sat comfortably in my mouth which helped keep my mouth open AND suck the water out at the same time resulting in less hands in my mouth at one time! I was very impressed with the technology they had! Overall, the staff are extremely caring and compassionate about their patients and have a high quality and assurance towards your comfortability and knowledge of your dental hygiene! The dentist kept on apologizing and expressed that he was trying to be as gentle as possible. I honestly felt very little discomfort and felt the energy in his hands of true compassion and care/ passion for his work towards wanting to help people make a difference in their lives through dental hygiene. This was reaffirmed when the doctor personally called me after the weekend to check in on how my teeth and gums were feeling and if I had any additional concerns. It has been a week since my deep cleaning and I have started a new routine with my dental hygiene. I floss every day as soon as I come home from my day and now brush at least once a day if not twice. My gums no longer bleed when I floss or brush and are not as sore afterwards. Also, my teeth were super white after my cleaning which I have been trying to maintain but am starting to notice some coffee stains. I am excited for my next office visit with them but am a little nervous because I will be getting a wisdom tooth extracted. I am not nervous about the extraction process but more so of the at home after care I will have to do. I am confident that my experience during my extraction will be as painless, compassionate, and comfortable as my deep cleaning was! None of the other offices, with their high reviews can be equivalent to the exceptional customer service, kindness, empathy, patience, and flexibility of Dr. Aghiad/Dr. Anjad and their team. From the moment I got in contact with UNO DENTAL, Alex was amazing at answering all of my questions which was make it or break it for me at that time. Upon my appointment arrival, I was greeted by Val who was so welcoming, and friendly. She escorted me to my room that was all set-up just for me and a warm blanket as I am always cold. That made me feel at home and comfortable right away. I then met with Dr. Anjad who was kind to go over a few things with me and then with Dr. Aghiad who I will never forget. He was truly incredible, not only answered all of my questions, but also addressed all of my concerns. Poor quality work and sketchy billing: Put in a crown, didn't work and last. Caused immense pain for months afterwards because the fit was incorrect resulting in excessive food build up between teeth. After numerous follow up visits Uno Dental was of no help and swore to no wrong doing. Spent subsequent years having to water pick 4 times a day for every single day, up until just 2 years later the crown fell out on its own. Horrendous, no refund has been provided either so if you're looking to waste thousands of dollars for a subpar service look no further. They also fought with me on numerous occasions re attempts at duplicate billing because their receptionist couldn't understand there were 12 months in a year and not 11 months. It was a last minute request on my end but they managed to work me into their schedule to ensure that I was seen and treated for my toothache. The facility is equipped with modern equipment and has a clean atmosphere to it. After taking some x-rays and a thorough examination, they gave me a detailed explanation of what seemed to be happening and potential treatment options. They were really good about checking to make sure I understood what was happening and could make an informed decision. UPDATE: Dentist reached out to offer me a refund if I took down the review. When I said I would leave it up, he reneged. He said since I signed some documents without reading the fine print, I'm to blame for my experience. That may be partially true, but everyone I interacted with during my care deliberately responded to my questions around insurance and coverage vaguely, which leads me to believe they do not have their patients' best interests at heart. The onus shouldn't be on patients to triple check that they aren't being deceived by their caregivers. Leaving out important details to intentionally misrepresent the truth is lying by omission. Clearly with the plethora of 1 star reviews I'm not the only one who feels this way. I hope they change their shady practices so that someone else who might not be able to afford $500 x-rays won't fall victim to this scam. ---- I didn't do my due diligence in researching a dentist and only picked the closest one listed on Delta Dental's search tool for "In-Network Providers". I'd never had a bad experience with dental care providers in my life so I was naive & trusted that all dentists on the system would be operating in good faith. TL;DR of the most egregious things, if you don't have time to read the following disaster of a story: - Recommended $1.5K+ of dental work for "gingivitis & multiple cavities". I sought out 2nd & 3rd opinions from other dentists who said my teeth were completely fine. - Endless fees: $300 appointment cancellation fee. $0.77/minute administrative labor fees. $25 to request medical documents you are legally entitled to. - Practice listed on insurance as in-network provider. They are twin dentists with the same first & last name. Only one is in-network. - Charged my credit card $112 for a "copay" without notice & billed $500+ for new patient visit where they did nothing but take x-rays when I came in for a teeth cleaning. This is the most dishonest dental office I've ever been to in my life. I emailed to set up a routine cleaning that was supposed to be covered by insurance which they said they accept. 1st red flag: a $300 appt cancellation fee, which needs to be canceled 72h in advance regardless of things like COVID. When I came in, they spent the whole time taking x-rays & then set up a follow-up time for cleaning. (Looking back, separating visits was probably a move to suckle more "copayments" out of me). During my visit, an alarming picture of my dental health was painted - I had gingivitis ("we have a $500 cutting edge laser gum treatment - your insurance will cover some!"), 2 developing cavities that needed immediate fillings ("no worries, we can get that resolved for you next week, 1 will be covered by insurance"). It would cost me upwards of $1K out of pocket. Multiple times I asked what insurance would cover & they assured me that some of it would be covered by insurance because they were in-network with my network's basic plan. Never did they say the doctor operating on me was out-of-network. Later I see a $112 charge to my CREDIT CARD that was not verbally disclosed to me during the visit, which I didn't expect because I didn't even get what I came in for! I then get billed $500+ for the x-rays that they forward to my insurance (but I ended up having to pay most out of pocket). I email about the $112 charge & the office responds they "believe they informed me during my visit" (lying through their teeth). I immediately visit another dentist, only to hear that my teeth are in perfectly healthy condition & finally got my teeth cleaned - no copayment needed. The new office calls to get my x-rays forwarded which I'm legally entitled to. They tell them I need to reach out personally to request them. To no one's surprise they say I need to pay $25 to receive AN EMAILED PDF of my teeth, citing things like "storage fees", "labor fees - $0.77/minute", etc. (to give you an idea of all the elaborate ways this place will try to nickel & dime you). THE ULTIMATE KICKER: I email my insurance asking - why does this dentist show up as an in-network provider when they state that they are out of network? They reply that there are 2 dentists with similar names - one of them is in-network, one is out-of-network. Upon googling them I find they are TWINS with the same first & last name. I cannot make this up. If this isn't the most ridiculously sketchy bait & switch operation in the world I don't know what is. In the initial inquiry I stated that I have Delta Dental, & they stated that it's an insurance they accept - they didn't think to disclose this information or set me up with the in-network guy? If you are looking for a dentist in the area, I've switched over to Yerba Buena Dentistry down the street. The quality of care has been exceptional, from the friendly office staff to the dentists, some who have been in practice for over 25 years & actually seem to care about your dental health instead of trying to scam you out of every last dollar. read more

I kept going because I hate change until they charged me 900 for a cleaning, exam and x-rays....$200 reimbursed from delta dental. so 700 bucks for something that a. few years earlier cost me 100 or so. Switched to a more reasonable "in-network" dentist located in SF, and is very clean, nice, great location. but isn't breaking the bank. The first cleaning and exam was ZERO dollars. And they pitched me a filling revision and bonding an amount that made me GIDDY it was so reasonable In comparison to Uno. DO NOT GO! I chipped a front tooth last week and searched online for a same day dentist appointment via OpenCare, knowing that my regular (& great) dentist would not be able to accommodate. I didn't give too much thought to which provider I would go to since it was a minor dent on the tooth, that had already been fixed multiple times. Basically the small resin composite just falls off occasionally upon biting on something a bit too hard and needs to be replaced. Usually 30mn top. OpenCare showed availability at 2PM, 3PM and 4PM at Uno Dental. I picked the 4PM slot, received a confirmation text and went on to complete their many new patient forms online. The Uno Dental assistant called me a few mn later to ask whether I could come earlier than 4PM. I responded I could do 3PM. She changed the reservation and sent me a text confirmation. Then 1 to 2 mn later, she called me again to tell me that finally I had to come at 1PM or they would not see me. It was already 12:30PM by then so I canceled my work meetings, jumped in an Uber and arrived right on time. After waiting for 10-15mn, they put me in the dentist chair while they were still processing the insurance info I submitted (Met Life). The chair was directly facing a large window at ground level with no blinds or curtains, meaning that people walking by outside have a direct sight of you laying in the chair with your mouth opened. Odd and a bit uncomfortable but oh well, I'm not here for long. The nurse, Val, took an X-Ray of my tooth (although I had told them it was not necessary - they just needed to replace the fallen composite - but fair enough, better be safe than sorry). The doctor, Mohammad Amjad Kandar, showed up a bit later and immediately tried to convince me that I needed to realign my entire jaw in order to prevent the issue from happening again, and handed me an Invisalign orthodontic treatment brochure to consider. I have visited many dentists throughout my life and am knowledgeable about dental treatments. I certainly do not need teeth realignment, but since I was only there for a short time I figured that the best thing to do was to nod and tell him I'd think about it. Now comes a text with the cost estimate for my appointment. $1750 FOR THE PROCEDURE, JUST TO REPLACE THE SMALL RESINE COMPOSITE!! This is the price of a crown! And since they are not part of MetLife's network, over $1000 come directly out of my pocket. I asked Val why so expensive, to which she mumbled back something about the higher cost of emergency treatments. It was NOT an emergency treatment, it was just a same day appointment! I was not in any pain, nor was there a risk for an infection or anything like that... At this point I just want to get done with it, I'm already in the chair, missed my meetings to accommodate the twice changed appointment time, filled their forms and had an x-ray done that I would need to pay for regardless. So I reluctantly approve the fees while hating myself for being in this situation, charged over 3x the normal price by a random dentist. The procedure itself went well overall yet also made me roll my eyes. Midway through, as they were spraying water in my mouth, it was sprinkling all over my face and down my neck to my shirt (no exaggeration). This had never happened to me before at any dentists, even as I went through far more complex and long treatments. The end result was good, the dentist did his job and fixed my mildly chipped tooth properly - One would certainly expect so for $1700. Finally their office called me today to schedule an appointment for realigning all my teeth. Since I don't need it nor have a million dollars I figured it was best to decline. read more

Looks out for their shady billing: Unfortunately Dr. Rodriquez left the office and what is left there now is a disaster. The new dentists got rid of a wonderful a competent staff that not only knew your name but handled the office procedures immaculately. Let's start with the fact that they are two brothers one a dentist the other one I don't know if he has completed a Dental degree yet. Calls I got: First call received claiming a owed $100 so I went to the office because I don't play with bills and they corrected there mistake. Now I receive a call claiming I now owed $200, and $12,000. They don't want to send me any billing to support their allegations. Unfortunately for them I know I paid all my bills to Dr. Rodriquez. The lack of dental experience compounded by the audacity to claim I owe 12k leaves me wondering whether they are scammers. My recommendation find another dentist I did. read more

Google reviews may offer a more objective assessment of Uno; just take what you read here with a grain of salt :)** After 5+ visits with Uno to deal with several years' worth of dental debt on my part, I've gotten a good sense of how they operate, and can say confidently that this is a *wonderful* practice. If you have any dental anxiety, whether it arises from fearing needles or pain or exorbitant bills, I cannot recommend them enough. It has literally been somewhat therapeutic for me to go to Uno, as someone who is dentally anxious; I am so much more relaxed in the chair than I used to be after my experiences here. The people who work at Uno are compassionate, patient, and incredibly ethical. They will not jerk you around or upsell you for a buck. They'll go as slow and gently as you need to feel comfortable (seriously). They're also suuuper responsive and available on short notice. Overall, so impressed and glad I found Uno. I wish I had read these reviews prior to scheduling. I too was a patient of Dr. Roderiguez and when I found him my search for a dentist was finally over. I told Dr. Roderiguez that I was not interested in extra services and he never tried to push them on me. I went to Uno Dental thinking they would be an extension on Dr. Roderiguez's practice. They are not. They will try and sign you up for every procedure they can get you to sign for. The forms they have you sign are given while you are in a chair in the middle of an exam, while Lauren the Office Manager (also engaged to the Dentist) stands over you waiting for you sign. I live out of state and came to them because I thought they would be professional and do honest dental work. They sold me on a lot of procedures that I usually don't sign up for, but finally figured I would try. They were inept at calculating the right final follow-up date, as a result I have to find another dentist to get finish my procedures. The worst part was Lauren claimed responsibility and then told me it was all my fault for not figuring it out the math on my own. They are unprofessional and take advantage of clients who put their trust them. Lauren is going to write a response about how she can't discuss HIPAA on a social platform and how everything is printed in bold writing on their forms. She is welcome to, because it has nothing to do with the majority of their bad reviews surrounding their ethics and professionalism. There is a reason they have an overall rating of three stars. Friendly Staff, Nice Office... That said, Uno Dental is tremendously incompetent with any and all insurance related matters. Despite having dental insurance, and being told I have coverage for the procedure that took place (root planing/deep clean) I had to pay full out of pocket. The procedure itself is 2-3X more expensive than what other dentists charge. Based on the other reviews here, it sounds like I'm not the first to encounter this. Don't trust them. read more

I normally wouldn't review based on a on experience like this but the unprofessionalism of this office's scheduling practices is extremely upsetting. I moved away from the bay area 8 years ago and was once a patient at this office back when Dr.Larson was here who was amazing. I have not been to this office for over 8 years. In the past few months I have gotten NUMEROUS texts and calls to schedule an appointment. I have replied to every text to take me off the list and have previously called, spoken to the front office staff, and asked to be deleted from their system only to continuously get calls and texts. The staff was very kind when I called but this practice needs to figure out their scheduling system because constantly sending desperate texts to old customers after they have repeatedly asked to never be contacted again is extremely unprofessional. read more

Uno deserves another 5 stars. This a genuine family practice - between two equally skilled and cool brothers (twins) who compliment each other by working as a team on your mouth. Uno Dental took over the practice of Dr. Rodriguez last year and inherited all of his patients. When Uno's staff contacted me for an appointment for a routine cleaning, they were not upfront about their "fee for service" business model. I did not even consider that this is a business model that any dental practice uses, so did not think to check or ask. When I arrived for my cleaning appointment I asked if they needed to see my insurance. They assured me it would be taken care of and would handle it after the appointment, rushing to get me into the chair. During my visit, they tried to sell me on a "deep cleaning" and that's when I learned I would have to pay the entire amount out of pocket (100% of whatever they decided to bill) and that they were going to be charging me around $1600 for the deep cleaning and visit. I refused the deep cleaning, but got stuck with a $600 bill for what ended up being a routine cleaning, exam, and imaging. I've never once had to pay this much to see a dentist for a routine cleaning and check up before in my life. I left their office feeling angry, taken advantage of, and disappointed that the previous dentist would leave his practice to this business. Uno Dental are not in-network with Delta Dental PPO so I was only reimbursed a meager $143. Please be cautious of this practice, they are not honest with their patients and are using the former good standing of Dr. Rodriguez to their benefit and to scam new and returning patients. read more

We started coming to this dental office in 2002 when Dr Larson was there, followed by Dr Rodriguez, and now with Dr Kandar and his brother. We had a good experience with all of them. My husband is currently getting several teeth treated by Dr Kandar and only has good things to say each time he comes home from his appointment. Basically you feel that you're in good hands, in a clean and safe environment (we're both in the high risk group for covid so extra precautions are a must). Dr Kandar is very patient, knowledgeable and he explains everything in details before and during the treatment. You can tell that both brothers really love their job. This is a top notch office with great people working there. read more

This was literally the most unpleasant experience that I've had at a dental office. The cleaning was professional, but I had to pay $600 out of pocket for regular cleaning even though I have insurance. Never in my life. Plus they wanted to do a deep cleaning for $800 out-of-pocket on each side before insurance. They even had the gall to ask me for a $200 deposit just to confirm an appointment. It is a complete and total rip off and these people are trying to sell you shit you don't need. I am literally never going back everything that people say on the site is completely true. The staff was uninviting when you first walk in and continued to be rude the entire appointment. Unorthodox payment procedures. And a very creepy dentist. I'm glad I didn't read any of the reviews before I was seen on President's Day. I broke my tooth and my current dentist did not have an emergency service nor did they have a referral system in case one of their patients has an emergency. I live in the North bay and I didn't want to have to drive into the city but I'm glad I did. They were warm, friendly and incredibly supportive when the outcome was not what I wanted. And I can't imagine them being "shady" since it would have cost more to do the treatment on original assessment. They explained all the costs and the change in treatment plan. No hidden costs, so far. They even made sure my meter didn't expire! I hope my experience continues to be a positive one. read more

I've been going to the practice there for about 15 years. There have been 3 dentists, and the service has been universally good (there was one bad hygienist, but she only lasted a couple months. The current team is super professional and the cleanings are first rate. Also, over all these years, I have had great experiences with all my "major" events. I'm not even scared about needles any more. Looking through complaints, those seem to revolve around prices. The current Dentist took it over not long before COVID. Honestly, I'm not clear how they survived in the SF nightmare that ensued. I am less concerned about price. But if price is your main determinant then you should sort that out beforehand. To the extent the complainers equate price with bad service - I think they are misguided. I've never had a bad experience here. read more

This new UNO dental office makes patients pay up front and promises insurance will reimburse customers directly even when they know it's not true. I was a patient of Dr. Rodriguez and Dr. Larson, and when the practice changed to Dr. Kandar I was never informed the patient cost would change.
