Over the years, I've met with a few therapists. A couple were great while others were meh. A doctor…read moreprescribed a couple helpful medications, and emphatically insisted that I talk with a therapist. After searching on-line at the American Psychological Association and WebMD, and was impressed with Dr. Winters' Psy.D. degree, licensures, and background. A Psy.D. is similar to a Ph.D. in psychology (clinical psychologist), but the training is more focused on therapeutic techniques rather than research. All of my appointments so far have been on-line. Wasn't sure I'd like that, but it's just fine and I like not having to leave my home! Like many other independent therapists, Dr. Winters does not deal with insurance billing. You have to submit your claim to your insurance provider. What has been so great about my experience with her is that she often explains how your biology influences behavior and mental health conditions such as ADHD and dopamine addiction, eating disorders, depression, etc. Dr. Winters possesses expert knowledge , and cites long-term research studies that prove or disprove common assertions about many conditions. She knows to look for the size of the study group, how the study was conducted, and whether the study was short term or long term. Many of us who find therapy helpful (life saving), will understand the great relief about going from believing there is something wrong with you to understanding the underlying reasons for behavior and feelings. For example, if you have an introvert persona, don't beat yourself up because you are not an extrovert. There are some great things about being an introvert! Different, not less than. Dr. Winters is the first therapist I've had who stresses the importance of good nutrition, exercise, spending time outside every day, and staying hydrated. And when I follow through on those things, I feel better! Areas of her expertise include eating disorders, and depression/grief. There are some medical conditions that you must learn to manage rather than expecting that you will be cured one day. Depending on individual situations, this can be a hard thing to accept, but once you do, you gain in-depth, non-judgmental understanding that leads to self-acceptance. One technique Dr. Winters employs is cognitive therapy - becoming aware of thinking patterns and learning to think differently. I'm so grateful for her guidance and the work we have done together. She is compassionate, highly intelligent, and makes great reading recommendations that have been very helpful to me. I am highly recommending Dr. Krysta Winters to anyone who feels the need to talk with someone and get some help.

Don't get your kids evaluation done here! They do not spend time with the kids they spent more time…read moresocializing with the parents than analyzing/observing my child. If you're on Medicaid they probably will try to deny you. I took my 6 year old daughter here for a evaluation. The evaluation lasted about 20 mins and 15 of that was spent talking to us (the parents) and 5 of that was actually watching her play with a bag of cars. This is where I really got a red flag, when my daughter was playing with the cars she lines them up by style, color, etc very specific I asked the doctor why that is and his response was well "kids with adhd tend to play with a lot of different toys get bored quick", which can be true but what did that have to do with how she lines her toys up and plays? The man was at least 60 years old very old fashioned he kept talking about his granddaughter and how she has adhd and I felt like he kept comparing my daughter to her he just continuously talked about it and at the end of the appointment he says he doesn't think she has asd because she "responds very well to her name etc" after that I instantly knew I wanted another second opinion when I left. I recommend going to Easterseals and they care about your kid they actually spent at least a hour of 1 on 1 time with my daughter and another hour talking to us. As I suspected my daughter does have ASD and was diagnosed. Do not waste your time @ hopebridge.

I worked for this company in the summer of 2024 as an RBT. I had some issues with my BCBA at first…read morebut after having a what I thought was a genuine conversation, things seems to be going better. I had to find another job when my client kept repeating cancelling sessions. (One time they cancelled a full week at the last minute each morning.) This was not the company's fault so I didn't take it out on them, however, my bills require money. I actually ended working a one MONTH notice -- instead of 2 weeks -- and thought I had left on good terms. However, over the past few months, any time I saw a job post (online) and I would apply -- I wouldn't hear back or it would be days later that the case is no longer or most recently, "posted in error". Then I remembered during my "exit interview" I left some HONEST but less than positive feedback about my BCBA and the fact that no one from the company conducted an in-home assessment to know that the client's home had and infestation of... "pests". During that phone call, the coordinator I spoke with said, "we've haven't had any complaints from our other RBTs" and I responded, "well, it's not like ya'll reach out and ask us 'how's it going with your BCBA?'." I have no ill will towards this company but it is very disappointing to be treated this way when I only spoke my truth and I do want to let others know about my experience. (This was for the Atlanta, GA location.)
