Everything!! I've…read more been quiet for too long. Since January, Milner (Dad's prior assisted living facility) had targeted him for removal from assisted living to skilled nursing. Initial meetings indicated that Dad did not meet their assisted living standards. When we finally found out the issues, my sisters made corrective action and assisted Dad to understand what was needed to stay. Unfortunately this wasn't ever enough. When we met a need of Milner, the bar was continually raised. It got to the point where we got extra daily nursing assistance to do the job that the Milner staff was supposed to do, but they chose to ignore Dad's needs & questions. Since January, we installed a Ring camera in Dad's room that alerted my sister when motion was detected. We did this after my sister was berated by the nurse on duty when she arrived with cupcakes for the assisted living residents. We wondered if this nurse could treat a guest/family member in such a way, how was she treating the residents. Video from the ring camera was very enlightening! We addressed our concerns with Milner Management and was assured that things would be addressed. We later found out via our ombudsman representing residents, that the primary nurse in question was never disciplined. We also figured out via the video footage that Milner wanted Dad's room because all others were occupied. They figured he/we would be easy to manipulate and get Dad transferred to their skilled side and fill his room with more paying residents. Although they quickly found out otherwise, that we refused to be manipulated and fought for Dad's needs. We have since been to court twice, Milner lost in both cases in their attempt to involuntarily discharge Dad from assisted living. During Dad's stay there, we witnessed harassment, discrimination, isolation, targeting, bullying, elder abuse and lack of compassion for hearing loss disability. If you have a loved one there, get a ring camera. You need to protect your loved ones. We are hoping because we weren't easily pushed over that we can help protect other residents with no one to advocate on their behalf. We are escalating our reporting now to various state agencies to investigate what is/has been happening at Milner. We waited until now to expose our concerns after we successfully relocated our Dad to a more compassionate facility. We were afraid of retribution against Dad if we brought things to light any sooner. I can't believe Dad was the first case of targeting. If you have loved one there, be wary. They could be next. I only selected one star because this wouldn't post without something. But I don't agree to any stars.
