I regret that this has taken me so long to do. But FINALLY, I am writing this…read more On 9/4/2025 I had a horrific fall. My husband called 911 and although I was in agony I was aware how great the ambulance people were: Amazing, and once we go to Stony Brook U Hospital everyone was terrific. I asked people their names but sorry to say I can't remember them. I will say PA Kathryn Walton was amazing. She did an awesome job stitching up my laceration, and she was so kind, professional and comforting. Dr. Brian McMahon was THE NICEST doctor! He took such great care of me. He was so considerate and I knew I was in great hands. I can't say enough wonderful things about these two physicians. Additionally, Everyone I came into contact with was amazing........nurses, aids, transport people, Xray and Cat Scan techs. I had a very long recovery, and thought about how fortunate I was to get the exceptional care that I did from all these people. God bless them, and Thank you to all of them. This was an experience I will long remember, especially because of the care I received.

I feel bad for the patients who think they are getting #1 care here and don't know that there is better. If it's your only choice bc you couldn't get into a better residency, I'm so sorry - the match is rough. Or as a patient, if you live in the beautiful Three Village area and need to come here, I hope you have a simple illness, like an uncomplicated pneumonia. Otherwise, it would be in your best interest to receive care elsewhere where the physicians are more curious and strive for better quality care from the top down. One recc, if you have a loved one who is hospitalized for more than three days, get the monthly parking pass. In order of satisfaction from top to bottom - elevator system - concessions on first floor like Starbucks - first floor entrance security people - monthly parking pass available - case managers - neurosurgery team - nurses aids/sitters - ED resident - food ordering system - nutritionist - first floor check in clerk - attending hospitalists - GI team - Radiology support - Electronic medical system Good luck! You will need it.

On the day of everyone was equally kind and professional. The admitting front desks were quick and easy to check in with. Every nurse at every step was so kind and reassuring. They were very careful and followed all procedures to ensure I was the right patient receiving the proper procedure. Even the transport staff (I think one was Jose) were so kind and did a great job keeping me calm by kindly making small talk. Nurse E. Wolff was wonderful and advocated for my wishes for me so that I could relax for the procedure. She checked in with me about directives id verbalized earlier to ensure I was receiving the kind of care I had asked for. The radiologist/tech Andrew S who operated the Fluoroscope was also excellent and kind. He made sure to add as many warmed blankets as I needed to stay comfortable in the cold room before the procedure and was obviously beyond competent and skilled at providing the imagining. Dr Benjamin Raj and Dr Giovanni Santoro had wonderful bedside manner. They were both extremely professional and informative while keeping me reassured and calm. Both were so kind and did an excellent job. The recovery room nurses were also very kind and helpful and great at their job. Overall the staff exceeded my expectations. If you need a procedure at this hospital I hope some anxiety is alleviated knowing that the staff there is kind and helpful from a human to human perspective but above all competent and skilled at their professional roles.

It's an experience that took me five years to talk about because of how traumatic it was. The treatment I received by the ER staff could be compared to a horror movie. I would rather die than be treated by St. Charles again...that's the level of bad I'm talking about. I can't believe such sadistic people work in Healthcare. That's a thought that keeps me up at night. I would never say that every doctor and nurse at St. Charles is bad. I'm sure a lot of caring people work there but not the people who treated me. I know a lot of people in Healthcare and I respect them and admire the work they do but that was not my experience at St. Charles. I don't know who is responsible for hiring but they need to re think their choices! Hands down the worst experience of my 57 years on this earth. Go to St. Charles ER at your own risk. Don't say you weren't warned!

Guess I had no choice, surgery is T -3 days away! I was greeted by the most pleasant front desk staff there ever could be and the inside is brand spanking new with ample seating. If you come with a wheelchair it is easily accessible with automatic entrance doors, large door openings and spacious exam rooms. I bring my loved one to lots of appointments in a wheelchair so I am always hyper aware of this. This appointment was for myself but good to know if you need accessible accommodations. Anyway, I was seen by the most thorough PA, Elina, and she really went over all my medical history with a fine tooth comb to make sure there were no surprises on surgery day. I've only gone under the knife once at a different hospital, but it was nothing like this. They took blood work and did an EKG on-site which was nice, I didn't have to go running to a lab and have extra turnaround time. Having surgery is stressful enough but this was really a pleasant experience. I hope I never have to come back, but I do feel they took the time and had my best interests in mind. Kudos to Stony Brook Medicine!

I was expecting to die fairly soon, I moved to Arizona to be with my son and daughter-in-law to die. I did find a new doctor at the Mayo Clinic who found my NY diagnosis was a bunch of bulls**t. I had been diagnosed with an incurable blood cancer, the treatment was basically blood transfusions, I was prescribed a medication (Danazol) which caused paralysis in my legs, hospitalization for 3 months, then rehab for 4 month, I had to learn to walk again. My doctor in Arizona diagnosed me with kidney failure, started me on dialysis and immediately I began to feel better, before this diagnosis I was in a wheelchair because I was too weak to walk, couldn't drive, it was hell. After the new diagnosis my life changed significantly. HORRENDOUS FRONT OFFICE! This is a review of her office and…read morereceptionist as well as thoughts about the doctor. Today, I called the office to see if I could get an appointment for my daughter who is experiencing a lot of discomfort and cramping and had been in this condition for about a week. My regular doctor in CT was on vacation and the receptionist there, after listening to what the problem was, recommended a doctor in Bronxville that she uses personally. I called and spoke to the receptionist, explained fully that my daughter had a hormone inplant in her arm for over a year with no issue, however, that in the past week, had been in discomfort and that before we get her back to school, I wanted to have her see the doctor to rule anything alarming. After a big wait time, I was informed that they wanted to speak with my daughter before confirming an appointment as she is over 18. Okay, I get that, however, I needed to know if there was a chance to come in and get seen so that my daughter doesn't get her hopes up and then doesn't get to see anyone. I was told to hold on while they conferred with the doctor. I wait on hold and the receptionist says, ' Dr. K doesn't specialize in that, you'll have to call the hospital and they can give you a list of doctors to try'. WHAT?! Who said anything about a hospital? When I said as much to the receptionist, she repeated what she stated. Trying to give her the benefit of the doubt, I asked if there was a miscommunication - my daughter is in pain, not a hospital, I need to know if there's a way to see the doctor? She didn't respond. I can't believe that a doctor would refuse a patient in pain AND refer the caller to a hospital. SOMETHING wasn't communicated to the doctor, or is that doctor so unconcerned? I was stunned. I thanked her (for nothing) and then hung up. Reading the reviews on the doctor herself, perhaps it was a sign to stay away. I'm going to save you the trouble of speaking with an inept front desk. I will never recommend this office and I'm going to tell my regular doctor's receptionist how awful this went!
