I didn't realize just how lucky I was to have a room in 16North. The staff is truly amazing. They have been extremely compassionate, attentive and understanding with my situation. I have screamed when the pain shoots through me and cried yet they were still very compassionate with my situation and still helped me while smiling. They have listened to my concerns and have ensured that they were addressed. Although all of the staff that have been assigned to my care have been truly amazing and compassionate, I want to thank the following people: Kathleen B, Luisa, and Kate. I want to thank the 3 of you from the bottom of my heart. You really helped to make my stay a lot more bearable. Also thank you Stony Brook hospital for having the foresight to hire staff that truly care for their patients. Today is day 6 of me being here and I think that I wouldn't be able to handle being in a hospital bed so long without you all here helping me. I really appreciate you all.

Now they have sent her home and we are hopeful she recovers better there. Not sure the doctors and specialists knew how to treat her ailment which is lung, heart, and breathing related. When we visited her there I did find the nursing staff to be very kind, professional, and considerate. Oh, and the food she was given for meals were mostly horrible. Not acceptable at all. If possible I'd steer clear of this hospital if you can.

Was recently a patient doing a short stay there for a needed procedure. They were very friendly…read moreprofessional and easy to work with right from the start when they booked the appointment. On the day of everyone was equally kind and professional. The admitting front desks were quick and easy to check in with. Every nurse at every step was so kind and reassuring. They were very careful and followed all procedures to ensure I was the right patient receiving the proper procedure. Even the transport staff (I think one was Jose) were so kind and did a great job keeping me calm by kindly making small talk. Nurse E. Wolff was wonderful and advocated for my wishes for me so that I could relax for the procedure. She checked in with me about directives id verbalized earlier to ensure I was receiving the kind of care I had asked for. The radiologist/tech Andrew S who operated the Fluoroscope was also excellent and kind. He made sure to add as many warmed blankets as I needed to stay comfortable in the cold room before the procedure and was obviously beyond competent and skilled at providing the imagining. Dr Benjamin Raj and Dr Giovanni Santoro had wonderful bedside manner. They were both extremely professional and informative while keeping me reassured and calm. Both were so kind and did an excellent job. The recovery room nurses were also very kind and helpful and great at their job. Overall the staff exceeded my expectations. If you need a procedure at this hospital I hope some anxiety is alleviated knowing that the staff there is kind and helpful from a human to human perspective but above all competent and skilled at their professional roles.

I am a chronic pain patient who was bed ridden at 36 years old. I unfortunately can't even walk all to the bathroom without intense pain. *p.s don't get back pain, let alone 2 of them 8. Days apart.* the heavy medication I am on now barely covers the stuff I'm dealing with at home. So whenever something goes else happen I am a screwed unless I want to be embarrassed by a hospital and treated like trash. I thought this place was different. The first. 2 days my pain was treated accordingly. On the 3rd today they explained I needed off of IV meds. Once it was actually explained I was fine. But I needed them to find someone oral regimen that would help with my pain. They have not done so. Instead I'm on day two of hysterically crying, no sleep. Waiting here until get approved by subacute rehab if I even do. I'll be here another 2 days in pain with nobody helping. I don't need strong medication, I just need a medication that works.

Sat in the waiting room for 1/2 hour with no other patients in sight. Was taken to a cubicle to see a doctor and waited for 2-1/2 hours with not a doctor coming to check if your dead or alive. I can understand there are other patients that need to be seen also, but have some kind of communication. Left us there and never even checked on us. Literally, only person that came by was the cleaning guy sweeping the floor and actually made me lift my feet so he could clean. Seriously??? Wound up walking out at 1:30 in the morning without ever being seen. Horrible place.

Guess I had no choice, surgery is T -3 days away! I was greeted by the most pleasant front desk staff there ever could be and the inside is brand spanking new with ample seating. If you come with a wheelchair it is easily accessible with automatic entrance doors, large door openings and spacious exam rooms. I bring my loved one to lots of appointments in a wheelchair so I am always hyper aware of this. This appointment was for myself but good to know if you need accessible accommodations. Anyway, I was seen by the most thorough PA, Elina, and she really went over all my medical history with a fine tooth comb to make sure there were no surprises on surgery day. I've only gone under the knife once at a different hospital, but it was nothing like this. They took blood work and did an EKG on-site which was nice, I didn't have to go running to a lab and have extra turnaround time. Having surgery is stressful enough but this was really a pleasant experience. I hope I never have to come back, but I do feel they took the time and had my best interests in mind. I used the SB Midwives to have two successful VBACs and my babies are healthy and happy and most importantly I felt in control of every decision made. They made me feel like a rockstar. Shout out to Eva, Heather, Kristen, Goldie .... these women were essential to helping me through it all. I wish more first time moms would give midwives a chance. Birth matters and how we are treated during the process is especially important. In addition, the NICU staff at SBUH is amazing as well. My first VBAC baby had a mandatory​ NICU stay because of a fever I had while pushing, and I couldn't be more impressed with the 100% private rooms, the open door policy, and the fact I was able to sit by my newborns side the entire stay and nurse her on demand.

I was expecting to die fairly soon, I moved to Arizona to be with my son and daughter-in-law to die. I did find a new doctor at the Mayo Clinic who found my NY diagnosis was a bunch of bulls**t. I had been diagnosed with an incurable blood cancer, the treatment was basically blood transfusions, I was prescribed a medication (Danazol) which caused paralysis in my legs, hospitalization for 3 months, then rehab for 4 month, I had to learn to walk again. My doctor in Arizona diagnosed me with kidney failure, started me on dialysis and immediately I began to feel better, before this diagnosis I was in a wheelchair because I was too weak to walk, couldn't drive, it was hell. After the new diagnosis my life changed significantly. Please, get a second opinion before taking Dr. Jain's word as final or I would actually tell you to find a different doctor and still get a second opinion

Something is up with their billing/coding department that needs to be reevaluated. My insurance is pretty straightforward & I'm not sure how one could screw it up. People going to this office type, especially, have enough to worry about. Patients shouldn't have to babysit their billing department to make sure they do their job properly. So to relieve the stress of dealing with NY Blood, I called my insurance company. The agent called on my behalf & made them fix their issues. I'm hopeful that they corrected their mistakes fingers crossed. So that's my suggestion, get your insurance company involved, or go elsewhere.

My regular doctor in CT was on vacation and the receptionist there, after listening to what the problem was, recommended a doctor in Bronxville that she uses personally. I called and spoke to the receptionist, explained fully that my daughter had a hormone inplant in her arm for over a year with no issue, however, that in the past week, had been in discomfort and that before we get her back to school, I wanted to have her see the doctor to rule anything alarming. After a big wait time, I was informed that they wanted to speak with my daughter before confirming an appointment as she is over 18. Okay, I get that, however, I needed to know if there was a chance to come in and get seen so that my daughter doesn't get her hopes up and then doesn't get to see anyone. I was told to hold on while they conferred with the doctor. I wait on hold and the receptionist says, ' Dr. K doesn't specialize in that, you'll have to call the hospital and they can give you a list of doctors to try'. WHAT?! Who said anything about a hospital? When I said as much to the receptionist, she repeated what she stated. Trying to give her the benefit of the doubt, I asked if there was a miscommunication - my daughter is in pain, not a hospital, I need to know if there's a way to see the doctor? She didn't respond. I can't believe that a doctor would refuse a patient in pain AND refer the caller to a hospital. SOMETHING wasn't communicated to the doctor, or is that doctor so unconcerned? I was stunned. I thanked her (for nothing) and then hung up. Reading the reviews on the doctor herself, perhaps it was a sign to stay away. I'm going to save you the trouble of speaking with an inept front desk. I will never recommend this office and I'm going to tell my regular doctor's receptionist how awful this went!

Turns out I was experiencing unexplained hemorrhaging supposedly unrelated to the c-section. Basically the calls to my Dr. weren't taken seriously enough for anyone in their medical group to tell me to go to get help. I wound up passing out at my in-laws house after losing half my blood supply. Thank God my husband rushed me to this hospital. The people that work in the ER and the ICU saved my life! I needed 2 blood transfusions. I just want to write a review and thank the people at this hospital publicly. I need to thank them for making sure I got home to my beautiful baby boy. To all the nurses I had in the ICU, you are all angels! Your bedside manner is impeccable and all of you deserve so much more praise than I can give you in this little review. Daniel, Carleene, Carla, and Michelle from the bottom of my heart, thank you....some of you even cried with me....thank you! To all the Dr.'s in the ER and ICU thank you also.
