What I discovered was missing was the knowledge and the education around how I could have a deeper relationship with myself. Sounds a little cliche right but the truth is, I didn't know how to love me. Growing up in an environment where I had to take care of other peoples needs before my own, no one really taught me that I had myself to take care of too. Coaching and the Coaching Institute helped me re-parent myself. They taught me the manual to my mind, they taught me about my emotions and as a result of bringing unconscious patters of destruction to my conscious awareness, I have no gained more choices and deep sense of strength that I didn't even know could be cultivated within me. The trainers are all so warm, caring and meet me where I am at with no judgement. I've never found a school or tribe who gave so much love and chocolate away and for once in my life I finally feel like I belong and I am home. Thank you TCI for all that you do and helping me deepen my connection with life, with myself and the people I love. I will be forever grateful for the changes I have witnessed within me and I have you to thank you it. We have one life and no one really knows what will happen when we leave this planet so we better make the most of what we have, take responsibility for ourselves and make sure we leave the world a better place when we go. Australians seem to have this funny aversion to talking about mental health. I've never quite…read moreunderstood it. We pay hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars each year seeing personal trainers to get our bodies in shape, beauticians to make our skin glow and mechanics to make our cars run better. Why isn't it socially acceptable to see someone to help you understand your brain and the way in which you interact with the world? I figure I've got an advantage over most people in that I spend a lot of time thinking about thinking and that I pay someone on a regular basis to help me overcome mental limitations, focus on areas of personal development and get through times of high pressure. Whether you're going through a particularly emotional or stressful time, struggle with a painful past (let's face it, most of us have childhood "stuff" that needs attention) or need someone to help you interpret the way in which you see the world, I urge you to seek out the people who have spent years learning how to help you do it. Your GP should be able to give you a referral and you may qualify for medicare rebates, which means it needn't be a huge expense. My psychologist, Jenny Makros, works at Living Potentially Psychology and I recommend her highly for her professionalism, good humour and kindness.
