I never thought I would have to say this , but today as an older person. I was discriminated against by of all people a woman of minority color. A minority knows what discrimination is and today this woman was mean to me because of who I was. I waited in line like every other customer to get a package and a change of address form. She did hand me the change of address form and told me that I needed to go home and fill it out and put it in the mail. I also told her that I had a package to pick up. She asked me if I had the tracking number and the date it was delivered. I told her that I did not have the tracking number but the tracking information informed me that it was being held at this location and I needed to pick it up and it was delivered on Oct 1st. She looked looked me straight in the face and told me my package was sent back to the sender without even knowing the tracking number and I asked her if she was sure that is was sent back and I had to asked again if she would go and check to she if the package was still on site because the website with the tracking number said it was being held for me at the this post office. She told me to go to the back of the line . I was shocked. If I the roles where reversed and I told this woman of color to go to the back of the line and refused to get her her mail.- it would be discrimination. The woman then told me that she would have to go downstairs. to get my package. I just stood there because I waited in line patiently like everyone else for my turn as a customer in line like everyone else to get my mail only to be told that I need to go to the back of the line. I did not know what to do. This lady embarrassed me more by singling me out in front of everyone in the lobby out and telling me that I need to go to the back of the line and belittled me like I was not good enough to even be a customer. The woman then looked at me straight in the face in front of everyone and told me point blank to get out of the line because I was holding up the line of customers. I am not ashamed of who I am but I have done things that I am deeply ashamed of before and will take them with me to my grave God created me this way and I am a Homo Sapien just like this women is a Homo Sapien. So why did she feel like she had the right to discriminate against me because of who I was because of my color of my skin, looks, or age. I do not know but no one deserves discrimination. I do not know what I did to her to make her be mean to me. Discrimination or hat is awful. I have been bullied and spit on before but today I expected more from a Federal Agency the boast how everyone is treated equal. I wasn't treated equal and I was not even treated like a customer. had a legal right to to my mail. I had to get out of line so I would not be deemed a person causing a problem and go to the back of the lined. When my turn came up again to get my mail, the woman of color saw she would have to wait on me and she walked off and hid and refused to wait on me. I had to wait and wait till another post office clerk to come to the counter to help me and the new clerk again told me that my mail was sent back if it had been delivered on Oct 1st and again asked me for a tracking number. She was not too willing to go downstairs to get me my mail either. It was like I was on trail to get my mail and I was having to almost convince the federal employees and beg them to go and check to see if my mail was their at their location.. She then begrudgingly went downstairs to see if my package was at the post office. She was a least nice enough to go downstairs even if she was doing it unwillingly. She at least waited on me instead of refusing to wait on me like the other clerk did and she did not tell me to go to the back of the line or to get out of it. After a few minutes, the second clerk returned with my mail and a package. I did not like how this post office made me feel stupid, bad, and singled out because I just want to get my mail. It was bad enough I had to dive almost 20 minutes for my mail to be treated so poorly. I have a legal right to my mail and I thought it was against the law for a post office employee to refuse to deliver me my mail and hold it. I should have never been treated that way and the second clerk also kind of gave me an attitude for me wanting to get my mail but she did help me and was nicer that other attendant who flat out discriminated against me in front of strangers and was not embarrassed by it. I am not a federal employee and I can not go downstairs and get the mail myself. It is against the law, but the post office clerk can refuse to wait on me and get me my mail and another clerk can resentfully go. If you really hate people that much where you going to refuse to help them because you are prejudice against old white women or have resentment going downstairs to get a package for a person who has to pay taxes for your paycheck.
