Enjoy your lower rates until you have an accident. After my accident I called American Alliance immediately, rather I tried to call. I was on hold for an hr. Finally a woman picked up and asked if I could give a recorded statement then put me on hold, again I waited well over 40 min with no response. This has happened a number of times. I was never able to reach someone. I called UAI to complain about the service and the woman told me that I was assigned American Alliance as my insurance carrier because it's cheap and I should accept the service. They'll happily take your money from you every month but when there's a problem they will do ANYTHING to not pay for that.. so even if you file a claim the same day you find out about the damage you better ALWAYS call the cops first and file a report even if it's a minor thing or an issue where calling the cops helps nothing.. NOT WHILE USING LYFT/UBER.. what??? Why would I change my policy and pay more for a "Lyft policy" that doesn't let me drive for Lyft?? Seeing as how most large insurance firms do not hold those policies, I was forced to go to this joke of a company. Please DONOT buy this insurance. They have been sending me renewal notices every 2nd day but never sent me policy document and/or ID card. I requested them to mail me copy of ID card many times and after multiple follow-up, I didn't receive it yet. The support staff is absolutely un-professional and never apologize for any delay. Despite of multiple requests to send policy document, I never received one. During pandemic I have struggling hard to get a print of insurance. I made a payment online 5 days prior to renewal and all I get is that the actual insurance company is reviewing document and will take 2-3 weeks to send the document. It's a SCAM. I received a phone call on 06/24/19 from one of their customer "CARE" specialists named JACKIE - one of the RUDEST and MEANEST people I have ever dealt with who shouldn't even be assigned to deal with their customers - told me that my policy, which was about to end in less than 30 days, was quoted BY MISTAKE; that they had ACCIDENTALLY given me a 9-month term instead of a 9-month term. During this 15-minute conversation, all that JACKIE had been doing is FORCING me to pay $228 upfront. She even suggested, in a very AGGRESSIVE manner, that I should borrow money FROM SOMEONE ELSE so I could pay them off to avoid any interests/additional fees and even threatens to cancel my coverage. JACKIE said to me that I shouldn't be upset over this (I dare her manager playback our conversation) because this is money that I OWE THEM and I don't have any other choice but to pay them off. I am not sure if she's just unhappy with her job but anyone else who can read this review will agree that this is not how you treat customers! 3.) THEY WILL CHARGE YOU FOR THE ERRORS THEY MADE! Since that I refused to pay them the $228 upfront, I received a mail from them on 06/29/19 "...a $31.75 late charge has been added to your unpaid balance as provided by your contract. To bring your account up to date, you must send us your check or money order in the amount of $258.97." So, on top of the $228 they're trying to charge me with because they made a "mistake" on my policy, they are also charging me a $31.75 fee because of my refusal to pay the $228 over the phone! I can't say much about United Auto Insurance other than I've been insured by them for five years and they provide me with the most affordable auto insurance. Fortunately, I have avoided any possible fender benders, head-on collisions, etc, that I could have possibly had the misfortune of experiencing in the past five years and am rewarded for being a safe driver with lower rates almost every six months. Yay for saving money! I have the option to pay for my insurance once every six months or make a down payment and pay once a month for six months. Usually, I take the former option. I have made most of my payments over the phone, though it is possible to process payment online or through snail mail. The only downer paying over the phone is the few dollars they tack on as a service fee; luckily, I am not too sensitive and have gotten over that fact by now. ;) If you're looking for low-cost auto insurance, give UAI a call. I had to take it to Kia for a smoke test because my check engine light was on, due to a leak in the seal of a valve hose that leads to my gas tank. In the process Kia tells me i have 5 recalls. So Kia fixed the recalls. Except the one in my engine passed. In the meantime United Auto gives me a run around about fixing the leak. And within a month my engine locked up. I had just left their shop not even 10 minutes prior to my engine locking up. I was driving from the service department to the finance department when my engine locked up. I wanted to discuss getting another car because i did not feel safe in my car. The owner told the service rep to leave me on the side of the road because we do not give loaners and we do not give rides! This actually a legal scam (think business). UAI found loophole that can provide a dummy insurance that you "pay monthly" just to have insurance in the system. But do not mistake this as a working auto insurance company. They will fight their own clients under their policy to avoid negative cash flow, as they did to me when my car was stolen; they sent a representative to prove me wrong (and they're supposed to be on my side), UAI will delay/ disregard any police report. A few major things and scenario involving United Auto Insurance (UAI): 1. If sign up with this company take your payment but will not support you. 2. If another driver under UAI hits you, forget about going through them. United Auto Insurance will delay/pretend and avoid that they received any police report. Since you're the one who needs the car repair, UAI expects that you'll just go through your own insurance (pay the deductible), and wait until the problem goes away while UAI will raise the premium of their policy holder. 3. I went to United Auto looking for another Insurance underwriter which was apparently closed. The girl ( Lisa ) for United offered to provide a quote, and asked what kind of Insurance I was looking for...to which I responded "Full coverage on a 2005 Kia Amante" Not being street smart on Insurance matters, I didn't know that although the vehicle purchased in showroom appearance & condition had a depreciated blue book value of $3200 ( being 12 years old) and if ever I incurred damages totaling more than let's say $7500 .....the other $4300 would not be covered and come out of pocket. Rather than advising me to take out a general liability policy to be compliant to laws and legally enable me to drive....Lisa wrote up the policy for full coverage ($824 annually) and advised me that first monthly payment due was $54.38....to which I responded "Nonsense, I'll pay the first 6 months up front"...she collects the monies, prints me my initial coverage papers and I'm done - OUT THE DOOR. Two days later I get two UNITED Auto Insurance envelopes.....both containing URGENT NOTICES to comply immediately with the remaining full balance of $375 or risk cancellation of my coverage. The second envelope demanded signature of Physician's release stating I was OK to drive. ( Previous stroke the prior year.....How do they get such info with HIPAA patient privacy acts in place? ) Return promptly or risk cancellation of Policy. Now I'm on the phone ripping Audrey at United a new one over the mishandled terms of payment thinking that this was understood upon remittance of $375 at their office window...I'm told NO....Unless expressly agreed to on the month to month installment schedule (For which they make finance charges from, the full balance applies) Lisa gladly accepted 6 months down; by-passing the whole monthly arrangement, cut my paperwork and sent me on my way thinking I was done for a 1/2 year when a premium would come due. So now I'm ENRAGED and call back asking what is involved with canceling coverage....Lisa answers and advises only a signature on their forms, and after a few days I would get a pro-rated refund based on how long I was covered which being 2 1/2 weeks one would expect to be equal to the monthly premium of $54.38 leaving me to expect a refund of $320.62. Four days later I received no such call and contacted UNITED.....AUDREY finally answered after being on hold for close to 15 minutes.....and states that the cancellation has been processed, but the amount has not been entered and it can take as long as 2-3 weeks before I can expect my check received in the mail. I called GEICO.....who gladly advised on a General Liability policy at $162 for 6 months.....which is now held up pending receipt of my refund from UNITED....which means no driving priveleges for 2-3 weeks. I would emphatically advise the public NEVER to have anything to do with UNITED AUTO INSURANCE period !! While it is reasonable to expect getting your business done on location at their window: 1.) The type of insurance needed was not tailored to my needs. 2.) Excessive follow up mail threatening immediate response or cancellation of coverage 3.) UNITED gladly takes immediate payment over the window, but takes 1 month to return a refund upon cancellation.
