Harlingen Airport…read more This is the AA operation run out of the Harlingen, TX location and well, just be prepared to wait. When you arrive at the airport and head to the check-in areas you see all the other airlines with their people diligently accepting luggage, printing boarding passes and all the other airline things that go on. The American Airlines counter: not so much. Apparently this is a shoe-string operation where the people who run the counter are also working as the boarding agents at the gate, and probably cleaning and directing airplanes on the tarmac which means: You gonna be standing there like a chooch waiting around for one of them to show up so you can check your bags. There is even a sign om the counter that "bags will only be accepted 2 hours before boarding" but the reality is, they will show up eventually. Save yourself time and aggravation: go to a better airline.

They have the airport decorated with a lot of art sculptures. They also have a few shops in places to grab a bite to eat. The rental car area is very easy to use. It's right by the luggage pick up and you check into the desk and walk right out and pick up your car.

I had a confirmed reservation for a late-night pickup at the Harlingen airport. For nearly two full weeks leading up to my trip, I repeatedly called this location -- at different times of day, including the hours I was specifically told to call -- and no one ever answered the phone. Not once. I finally got through to an employee (Carlos) and very clearly explained that my flight landed at midnight and I would need to pick up my rental after hours. I was told -- confidently -- that arrangements would be made and someone would be there. Based on that, I moved forward trusting that commitment. My flight actually landed early, and I arrived at the counter at 11:46 PM -- before my scheduled arrival time -- only to find the location completely closed, locked, and unattended. No note. No instructions. No attempt to honor the reservation. I was standing in an airport late at night with my daughter, with no transportation, no support, and no way to reach anyone -- after spending weeks trying to prevent exactly this situation. I had no choice but to scramble and secure the only vehicle available from another company, which cost me over $100 more than my original reservation and forced me into a larger, unnecessary vehicle. This wasn't a simple inconvenience -- this was a complete breakdown in communication, accountability, and basic customer care. What makes it worse is that I was directly assured this would be handled. That assurance was completely false. I have still not received any response from Enterprise regarding this situation after attempting to contact them numerous times. I would strongly caution anyone relying on this location, especially for late arrivals.

And you can to keep your fan on "constant". Which is a huge pet peeves of mine. This place however, it's an older property but man older sometimes is better. Close to the hospital and a gym, which if I was the gym I'd work out a deal where you can workout across the street as a part of your stay. Seriously consider doing this. Your hotel gym is...
