Thank you Southwest!

Harlingen Airport…read more This is the AA operation run out of the Harlingen, TX location and well, just be prepared to wait. When you arrive at the airport and head to the check-in areas you see all the other airlines with their people diligently accepting luggage, printing boarding passes and all the other airline things that go on. The American Airlines counter: not so much. Apparently this is a shoe-string operation where the people who run the counter are also working as the boarding agents at the gate, and probably cleaning and directing airplanes on the tarmac which means: You gonna be standing there like a chooch waiting around for one of them to show up so you can check your bags. There is even a sign om the counter that "bags will only be accepted 2 hours before boarding" but the reality is, they will show up eventually. Save yourself time and aggravation: go to a better airline.

We appreciated that! Shoutout to Laura Cavada @ Enterprise, Valley International Airport for doing what she could to make it right. Awful. Car was reserved via Costco travel; when we arrived at the counter following a long flight it wasn't ready. It wasn't ready an hour later. We were promised "an hour at the most, maybe less." Well into the 2nd hour and we are still waiting. Was just told "maybe 20 more minutes." Other people are waiting as well, but why accept a reservation you can't honor? We have only 3 days for our first vacation in years and we're spending the first 2 hours+ of it at the Harlingen airport. Do better!

The problem we had was with our rooms. We reserved 2 rooms & both had a strong mildew smell. We mentioned it to the front desk person & they acted surprised. Yeah, really surprising since they had a dehumidifier in the room! Front desk said they would talk to the manager about either changing rooms or giving a partial refund. We couldn't change rooms because they were completely filled. Manager said we couldn't get any form of a refund because we pre-paid through Expedia. My husband was ticked! Partially because I have asthma & he was concerned that the smell would cause me problems. Thankfully it didn't. To top everything off, the desk chair in the room was pretty ratty too.

The girl with the long hair at the front desk was so RUDE on the phone and during the encounter with walking to the front desk per her directive to exchanged the towels. I have never stayed in a hotel where it was both a burden and requirement to the staff to walk to the front desk for towels, and where it was such a hassle to the workers to physically hand in the used towels for the new ones at the front desk in the moment (one child literally waiting in the bathtub for a towel to be handed to them since we had to run down to the lobby for the replacements ourselves after trying to call the front desk for over 1 hour in the phone before giving in to physically walking downstairs). I would've resorted to staying in an Air bnb with this level of service where it's more beneficial to bring our own towels since it's such a burden to the staff to simply provide towels to customers in this hotel. On another note, the pool was clean and a pleasant time since we had the space to ourselves. And, the breakfast was your typical continental breakfast spread with eggs, potatoes, toast, bagels, fresh waffles to make yourself, cereal, fruits and some other things. We probably wouldn't stay here again, but it served its purpose for this trip.
