Nurse, Monti, was more concerned with the amount of opti-foam, tape, gauze bandages,etc.,being used then in my husbands leg issues. It appears that the medical supplies used in his care were provided by Bayada, at their expense as per their agreement with our insurance company and that should not be an issue we have to deal with. Then, to our amazement, we received notice from our insurance company that they had been billed for those supplies. In the end, my husband was discharged from Home Care per the 'failure of patient to comply with education for care'. Guess that meant we used too much in the way of supplies Bayada supposedly provided. Bayada also provided both Occupational and Physical therapies which were excellent. Our suggestion is that Bayada remove from service to clients personel who lack the skill needed to interact with patients. The nurse assigned to my husband's care should be where they start. We have had experiences with other Home Care services and have only good things to say about the care received. In the future, we will not accept services from Bayada should the need arise.

However, since the new director has been hired, food has improved dramatically, activities have been expanded and staffing has increased and also improved. The PCU staff care about the residents and are always smiling. They show empathy and interest in the residents. The loving care my mother received, and the companionship my dad was given, in mom's final days was touching. My dad enjoys going to mass daily and participating in activities. This is not an easy decision and is made for many different reasons depending upon the family's circumstances. But, at St. Mary's, I know my dad will have good care, companionship and medical attention should he need it.
