I arrived on time and was never greeted by the practitioner that I had been corresponding with. Never met them. - I was visibly upset, so I was paired with the first and currently available practitioner. Surprise uninformed pairing for both of us. - Apology sent from practitioner that never met me. - Provided my FSA benefit card and personal card for payments to my file. Was charged erroneously on personal card when instructed to charge my FSA. - Charged $115 per session, then $95, then $40 until my copay was met. My copay does not apply to mental health. - Erroneously charged $135 for $40 session. Refunded and account audit performed. - Practice realized account over charge errors and offers to write me a refund check that I am instructed to come by and pick up. - Choosing to continue to see current Practitioner because my experience with them does not reflect my experience with the administration of this practice. TL;DR: - Scheduling errors, over payment, and uninformed billing. - One-on-one care: By chance really, really positive and transformative care raising this experience to one whole star because this practitioner is a star to me. That's actually what happened to me. A professor of mine noticed that some symptoms I was exhibiting matched that of a fellow student who also struggled in the class. He suggested I seek a diagnosis as it could help provide me the necessary resources in college to overcome something I was up against. Growing up in the 90s, I, like many others my age, was told that we were just lazy, not trying hard enough, and that ADD/ADHD wasn't real and eventually I believed it. Now, a teacher of about the same age (I'm back in school thanks to the panny), is suggesting I seek treatment. So I started looking. I looked for months. Nobody had availability. I actually was about to give up when my partner came found Modern Integrative Psychiatry on Yelp. Normally they're crazy booked out, but thanks to whatever circumstance, I was able to secure an appointment with PMHNP Ashley Winn. I've been seeing her for around 6 or 7 months now and honestly it was the best decision I ever made. She makes seeking treatment painless and effortless. We meet remotely so even though I no longer live in the best city in the universe, I'm able to see her from campus, my car, or wherever I have access to the internet. It's been a great experience and I can't recommend this office or Ms. Winn enough. For those, like me, who may have suffered for too long without seeking treatment due to the stigma: give it a shot. I have private insurance through my job and everything is covered except my copay. The staff was so nice and offered drinks as soon as i came in. Now i love the recess drinks. The doctors all have made me feel comfortable and I've had the best visits ever. Even Pap smears are comfortable. I've never been to a doctor and felt so listened to until now and each and every provider makes me feel that way. I've also gone to the Williamsburg and soho location and enjoyed it at soho and how close it is to the train and stores. They also very helpful and accommodating. I've been late once at both locations and they were able to waive the fee for me and accommodate me to see the provider the same day at a later time. I didn't mind that after the travel to get there from the Bronx, especially when I'm normally on time. Lastly, since I've been listened to, I've felt much more comfortable during my monthly weight management appointments. I have lost over 50 pounds in a year with the help of the great providers and the referral to Nourish for nutrition. I can't wait to reach my goal of losing another 30lbs with the help of ask Tia.

After that appointment, communication became extremely inconsistent. I repeatedly attempted to reach out and rarely received responses. At one point, my account was deactivated without clear explanation, yet I continued receiving automated messages encouraging me to make appointments. Most concerning, my card was recently charged approximately $240 when my account was apparently reactivated, despite the fact that I never intended to re-enroll or authorize that charge. I had to request a refund for a payment I did not knowingly agree to. As a mature woman simply seeking straightforward medical support and continuity of care, this experience has felt impersonal, confusing, and financially exploitative. Rather than feeling cared for by a healthcare provider, I felt processed through an automated system focused more on billing and subscriptions than actual patient support. I understand that telehealth platforms operate differently from traditional practices, but basic communication, transparency, and informed billing authorization should still be standard. Unfortunately, my experience left me feeling frustrated and unsupported.

Yulim helped me expertly through my shoulder issues after surgery and that was also a great experience. Shaina was wonderful as well, helping me in the long prep for my shoulder repair. The waiting room is a hodgepodge of people. There were a few people just listening to music, shows on their phones but no headphones, so it made it kinda difficult to hear when your name was called. I wish there was someone to enforce that a little bit. But overall, average American, NYC healthcare experience here. Their use of technology is kinda low, so it doesn't seem to have all the techie bells and whistles of some other places.
