I have been a member of this credit union for about a year now. I opened the account because it's…read moreclose to work and it was recommended by a co worker. On Friday I asked my boyfriend to make the 35 minute drive from our home to deposit $100 into my account. He had to go inside the bank because there are no ATMs outside that he could make this deposit through. Anyway, he walked inside and immediately all eyes were on him. No one greeted him just stares. He went up to the teller explaining that he would like to make a deposit into my account, he had my info in hand. Rose , the teller told him he could not deposit money because he was not an account holder. My boyfriend went on to repeat himself that it was a deposit and again Rose told him he could not make a deposit. Confused he simply said ok thank you. Moments later I get a phone call from the teller and she says that a man came in wanting to make a deposit into my account. She was shaken, her voice was cracking, I agreed and said yes. She said she did not allow him to make the deposit even though she said he did want make a deposit. I asked her why she didn't "allow" him to. She said " I dont know why, I didn't know what he wanted well he did say he wanted to make a deposit but but but he didn't have any cash in his hand." RIDICULOUS!!!!!!!! So, I am warning all other people who do not look like Rose to beware she may not grant you banking services because she doesn't know why. I KNOW WHY!

I have lived all over the United States and banked with regular banks as well as credit unions and…read moreuniversally they had predatory practices. I have now banked with TMTFCU for several years and have been pleasantly surprised that their policies are very straightforward and they practice their policies. They always process deposits before debits. If the account becomes overdrawn, the customer is given 24 hours to bring the account current. They go out of the way to work with you if there are problems. An overdrawn account gets one overdraft charge regardless of the number of checks processed. This bank is so far above every other bank I have dealt with over my entire fifty years of banking. I cannot say enough good things about this bank. They are very customer oriented.

Save yourself the hassle of doing business with Thomaston Savings Bank. They dropped the ball with…read moreour new home build and mortgage in MULTIPLE ways, and are holding us to a higher standard than both their online banking system, and their customer service department. Our issues arose from a "back-end fee glitch" (their words) that appeared on our mortgage statement. I called Thomaston Savings Bank to clarify what amount to pay (as our payments were variable) and paid the amount I was told a week before it was due. Unfortunately the amount I was told to pay by the bank representative was short $120, (which was our estimated escrowed taxes). I didn't know this until another representative called me on the 31st of the month to report the short payment and ask if she could pull the remaining funds from our savings, which I of course gave permission and thanked her for alerting me. A few weeks later I found out that mine and my husbands' 15 year perfect credit score had dropped 130 +/- points due to a "late payment" to Thomaston Bank. We paid early, but since it was short the $120 which was paid at the end of the month instead of the beginning, the whole payment was deemed late. I thought this would be an easy thing to clear up since the issue arose from a "backend fee glitch" with the bank's website appearing on our mortgage statement, and then the teller giving us the incorrect amount to pay when we called to clarify. I was wrong. Thomaston Savings Bank is refusing to remove the late payment from our 15+ years of perfect credit. They are claiming it was ultimately our responsibility to pay the correct amount DESPITE it appearing incorrectly in their portal due to the fee "glitch", and additionally being told the incorrect amount by their representative. Another kicker is that they are claiming they did their due diligence by alerting us via postal mail of this issue. We were having our mail forwarded due to being in the process of moving and getting a mailbox installed at our new build. Thomaston Savings Bank apparently does not forward mail and does not alert their customers of this fun fact. They have it on record that their warning letter bounced back to them 10 days before our account was going to be delinquent. Not a single person called to tell us that they had our mail, or that the bank doesn't forward mail. They also refused to meet with me in person to discuss the issue. Completely unprofessional and unfortunate. We wanted to go with a local bank for our home build and now will take all subsequent business elsewhere. Save yourself the headache of doing business with this bank.
