Problems with work carried out 27/03/2015 by UNIBLAST.
Problem 1 - No notification of start date.
Neither the tenants nor myself (the landlord) were notified as to the start date of the sandblasting. This rendered us unable to suitably prepare ourselves and also made us unable to notify the neighbours in advance so, they too, could take the necessary precautions.
Problem 2 - Workers not wearing safety equipment.
My tenants partner, who was home at the time, noted that the workers weren't wearing goggles or masks and were, instead, improvising by using their coats/jumpers pulled over their mouths/noses.
Problem 3 - Area not properly sealed.
My tenants partner first noticed Uniblast's workers when the air in the house was filled with a fine dust. Upon inspecting the outside, she noticed the workers had started work without laying down any ground sheets, without properly boarding up the windows, doors and letterbox. Worse of all the sheet they did have up had at least one large hole in it, rendering it useless.
Problem 4 - Sand inside house and neighbours houses.
Upon completion of the work, the interior of the house was left with a very thick layer of fine sand and dust on every surface both upstairs and down. Tenants suffer from asthma and, due to a huge health risk resulting from Uniblast's poor workmanship, have been forced to find alternative accommodation. Neighbours called round with a letter stating they have had to clean both the interior and exterior of their home.
Problem 5 - Sand outside of house.
Due to no ground sheet being used, the front garden now resembles a beach, with window growers full to bursting with sand. No attempt was made by Uniblast to clean.
Problem 6 - Damage to house.
The main rubber seal surrounding the front door has been blasted away, causing the whole door to now be loose. The rubber seal on the upstairs bedroom window has been partly blasted off.
Problem 7 - Damage to vehicle
My tenants partner, whose car was parked outside the property, received damage to the paintwork of her car, which, to date, she has spent £10 on rectifying.
Upon contacting the owner of Uniblast to see if they would rectify the aforementioned issues, we were met with hostile and abusive language. read more
