Stay away! Thomas was timely until he got 50% of the cost of the job and then he became a ghost. He told me 10 separate times that he would be out to work on our fence and never showed up. He finally showed for 2 hours and then again, never came back. He has every excuse under the sun on why he could never show up. I finally fired him and hired another company and they did the job in 3 days. Paid him $4400 and he has yet to return my money, so will have to pursue legal action. I strongly discourage anybody from working with Tom Underwood, Underwood Fence. My wife and I hired him for a semi complex project, which he estimated would take a couple months to complete. Over 1yr later, and we're still only 3/4 of the way done, and 40% over budget. Tom & team have disappeared for weeks on end, with no notice, usually returning to work for a day or two, when he wanted to get paid. Even when the team did show up, it was usually past noon - sometimes as late as 4pm. Over the last year, Tom's equipment has broken down several times, and he got his excavator stuck 8 or 9 times - one time requiring a professional wrecker to come out and extract 3 pieces of heavy equipment he got stuck. On a couple of occasions, to keep the project moving I personally rented equipment. All the more insulting ... the team constantly left tools & trash scattered across the property. I had burger wrappers, bottles, and all sorts of other trash everywhere. Over the last 3 months, Tom has apologized for not taking the job seriously; promised to show up the following week and then completely no shows without giving any indication of why...and he's done this 6 times. I've heard from 2 different people he's sub-contracted with, as well as a couple of people on his team, that getting paid by Tom was an absolute nightmare. We filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and not surprisingly, it went un answered. read more

Thomas and his entire crew were very professional throughout the entire process. They built an exceptional 6 foot privacy fence and finished up within both time and budget. Thomas was very informative and it was clear even before we chose to have him complete our project that he knows what he is doing and is very good at his job. We could not be any more pleased. It took two weeks for a response that they would paint my fence and didnt show up twice when they said they would. That should have been my clue. They showed up at 9:00 at night to touch up my house and ask me how the fence looked. I said we will see in the light. told me about the paint on the house and over spray because they were running out of paint. I pointed out entire areas if brown paint on my light house. I pointed put they painted the lighter trim the color of the house and it had to be repainted. I have a brand new house in a subdivision with HOA. This will void my warranty. The panel is splotchy. But when they should up and just started painting things, I came out and saw the goobs of paint on my house. I cleaned it up and Tommy apologized. He had his guys fix it. I went to the otherside a d splats of fresh paint were on the house so thick. I smoothed it out. The trim paint was now on the brown fence and paint spilled on my grass. I have dogs. The other side had dried and I cant get the runs off the cement siding. They made it worse than before. I blew up. I said I was deducting $200 from the quote because I will have to hire someone to sand the paint drips and repaint the siding. Plus I have to now buy the stain the cover up the blotchiness and the light colored paint they got on the fence. They said it was $55 a gallon and the cost of a licensed and bonded painter is a lot on a house that is less than 5 months old. I said it may not matter to them but it does to me. So they raised the price $200 from original quote after I told them I was deducting $200 tohire someone to fix their mess. I paid it and they left. I came inside emailed their company and wrote this. Made appointment with Underwoof Fence on June12. They never showed. Made appointment for June 14th. No show. Made appointment again for August 17 at 5:30 pm. Did not show but texted and said he would be there tomorrow morning at 7 AM. Still no show. Disgusting. read more

I had a fence put in by this company back in December of 2017. I thought the job was ok until about a month ago until I started to notice boards were not nailed in. I reached out to the company, didn't hear back until 2 days later. He told me he would come by that week to take a look but never showed up. I reached out again a week after that and no response. Then I reached out again another week after that and let him know that I had to nail more nails in myself and was going to write a review. His response to me was Ma'am I'm sorry we are extremely busy it's not the importance of the duty it's the number of dutys to do. I'll be by to see you tomorrow. Oh and guess what??? He never showed up. First of all I shouldn't have to nail boards into a new fence myself after paying for a service that is only 3 months old. Also some of the boards are split so not sure how good the quality of the wood is. read more
