I stayed at home waiting to meet with them, and they never showed. No call to cancel either. We were going to call back and reschedule, but I was driving through Eureka a few days later and one of their workers in a Hamanaka truck blew through a stop sign directly in front of me, nearly hitting me. Unreliable AND dangerous driving? Screw that, we'll find another company.

The process and the results were again fantastic! The initial bid price was reasonable in our assessment and with a comparison. The final price was exactly the initial bid price with no uplifts, change orders or other surprises, despite some adaptations needed. The materials were all top quality. The equipment included scaffolding with some well-done ground-level engineering for level and stable footing on our sloped lot. The preparations included much masking and some disassembly of gutters and downspouts, all of which was done with skill and patience. The painting itself was all beautifully done with proper equipment and skilled technique: siding, windows, doors, gutters/downspouts, decks, deck rail and fencing... Wow, it all just pops it looks so nice, and now with another ten years or more protection from the elements. The crew was professional, courteous, safety-conscious and efficient. All comments, requests and observations that we made were accepted and acted on with no hesitation. Glenn Hamanaka, his manager James and the whole crew were a pleasure to interact with. Working with Hamanaka Painting for this challenging house-painting job was a very positive experience, once again. We are satisfied beyond expectations with the results. By the time I went with Tino, identified and incorporated all the details required to do the job (exterior-repainting) correctly. He recognized how truly thirsty for paint the wood was and recommended more than usual gallons needed to do the job right and hit the southern exposed, moldy side heavy. He invested the extra time to prep the rusted nail heads that would have continued to bleed ruining the new paint job. He re-caulked the window seals to prevent water damage. He identified the work that was necessary before painting which my carpenter accomplished. I had several color choices printed out using Sherwin Williams Color Visualizer program (hint- if you use it take your house photo on a gray day). I had narrowed my color choices and asked Tino's advice. So many painters don't like to give their opinion but Tino has a good eye. I wanted the new colors not to be the basic safe two color house. Something a bit more daring that would stop folks in their tracks to appreciate the color pallet on the house. Tino is honest and knows when pastels and warm colors are clashing, when trim should be tamed and eves accented. Together we nailed it! I am so happy with his work. It was accomplished within 5 days! My home is no longer dying of thirst, thanks to Tino, it is now cheery and crisp! Sunshine Painting is affordable and well worth the investment.
