Both are warm and cozy, easily sleep 6-7 people (two bedrooms, plus pullout couches and plenty of extra space. Both have a fully-stocked kitchen (plenty of plates, cutlery and pots and pans). Wolf Pack Place includes a wood-burning stove and a hot tub (!!!). The rates are extremely reasonable for the amount of space and the beauty of the location. We went hiking in the woods, walked down to the lake (about .25 miles) down the hill, and relaxed in the cabins. Note: no TV, no wifi and cell phone coverage is non-existent. This is a GREAT spot to get away from it all. Approximately 2.5 hours southeast of Kansas City, so it's particularly great for an overnight or weekend trip.

All of them have a large fire pit area , hot tub, board games, and one of the larger ones had a wood stove to boot! They even supply wood!!!!! Grandkids love the board games , large area outback to play yard games and , of course, the hot tub! Easy set up to keep eye on the kids! It's very close to lake Pomme de Terre, where you can go fishing, boating, jet skis. I can not imagine doing Easter any other way! We've talked about taking a few weekend trips out here because we love it so much. We live three hours away and the drive out is beautiful in spring! The Knolls is situated on a hillside giving the individual condo units beautiful lake views. There is even main channel lake views from the tennis and basketball courts. Individual Condo Units can be rented through the property owners directly, VBRO, Home Away, or through the Knolls main office. I highly recommend contacting property owners (like Alison N.) directly or using Home Away or VBRO. I have stayed at the Knolls many times and each time I enjoy myself more and more. Chances are they either don't answer the phone, or you don't have cell service. Then, since it's connected to 'The Lodge,' guests assume it's an extension of the office and try to enter through there, resulting in our family's cabin stay being repeatedly interrupted by lost strangers. When we asked to tour 'The Lodge,' we were led through a messy hall via the storefront rather than through the front door, and the AC wasn't yet set up-an hour after check in, mind you, smelling like mold. The toilet and outside patio were not cleaned and required to be brought to owner's attention to attend to. As we were making our payment for our stay, suddenly there was an added $80 charge-children were now being included in the pricing although it was made clear to us on the phone during reservation that children under a certain age were exempt. This was rectified with much reluctance. When we asked if there was anything we should know about the stove or oven, response was "It's a stove and an oven." When in fact, it would have been very useful to know that one of the burners did not function, and neither did the stove fan. What's more, above the stove and counter is a steel guard for the fan with sharp corners that failed to have guards/protectors on the edges. The fire extinguisher is expired (May 2018) There was a mouse! Multiple calls were made to owners that were never returned. There is a broken electric outlet upstairs with a piece of metal jammed in it. The grill was rusting off and barely balancing on the stand. Surprisingly the pool was nice and clean throughout our stay.

But my kiddos needed something NORMAL before school started up. We couldn't POSSIBLY cancel our annual summer vacation! This trip we stayed in Lakewood Resort's newest unit, just above the office. Wowza. Jacuzzi, in-unit laundry and a super secluded view of their alcove of the lake. A very nice spot. Our favorite unit. Coming from a college town where tons of protocols are done, a couple things rubbed me the wrong way. But ultimately, I felt safe. If you have kiddos who love outdoor swimming pools, this is the resort to stay at! My four year old has a phobia of not seeing his feet in the lake water. He will choose the 'blue water' over the 'brown water' any day of the week. This pool boasts a lake view. You also have the pool to yourself almost all day everyday since a majority of the folks that stay here go out on the lake each day. Talk about a great socially distanced week full of swimming and family! This was our third stay at this resort. The staff is friendly. The property is well maintained. The location is convenient and near a lot of great spots. There's internet in each unit. There's a lot to enjoy at Lakewood Resort.
