Small town America - this is it! On a business trip across Kansas we had to find a stop for lunch. The were not a lot of choices but me manage to find The Pin Up Cafe inside of Bob's Bowling Alley.
This is definitely a throw back to yesteryear. Old fashioned bowling alley, vintage LP records covers on the wall. I did stop and think about when I was a kid, Saturday bowling was just like this!
My time in the military often led me to the base bowling alley for breakfast or lunch. Always seemed to get the best burger & fries at a bowling alley.
So this was our stop . . .
I ordered appetizers Fried Mushrooms, Fried Pickles, & Mozzarella Sticks - they were decent.
Everyone in the group ordered burgers 3 out of 4 ordered the extra patty. I did not! Unfortunately I did not take pictures of the burgers. I'll be honest we ate them but they were cooked too long and were way too thick.
I think a much thinner patty would have been the way to go. Granted I get it, this is a small town and we're just passing through but we enjoyed the meal and continued on in our journey.
Life is about the journey and finding places along the way to experience is what it is all about. This may have not been the greatest of food stops but it's middle America and I'm glad we tried this place out! At least it evoked memories of my childhood and what a joy that can be to remember the time that's has passed me by. read more
