We attended an organized family camp over Memorial Day weekend. There were lots of activities planned but one day of rainy, windy weather did affect some of the activities. Things we were able to do: Horseback riding, climbing the Tower, swinging from the Tower, arts n crafts, family olympics (really fun), nature hikes, swimming, archery, and kickball. The facility has a skate board park, sand volleyball court, canoeing, horseshoe game, soccer goals, baseball field, and several different types of cabins. We ate our meals in the Richie hall and the food was pretty good considering we were camping. At the campfires (2 of the nights), we watched the camp counselors perform skits and songs that required audience involvement. This camp can be what you make of it. We had a good time but there was some waiting in line which always sucks and the water in the lake is really dirty, but it is in any lake I suppose. It sounds like we did a lot but in reality we did just about everything offered and were still bored some of the time. The camp staff was very good, taking interest in every kid and every family. They sat with the families at meals, talked to the kids by name, and went out of the way to make sure the kids got the best experience. This camp was very affordable, too. Many of the family camps I researched were over a grand for a week and this one was 3 nights, costing right around $400. For a family of four, 7 meals each, a cabin, and organized activities, you can't beat that price. Most importantly, we were able to spend quality time together, away from all the distractions a city can bring. read more
